Love the Old Fashioned recipe. I too use simple syrup for all the same reasons. As another "touch", use orange bitters as well since it will play off the orange zest.

If you're using bourbon for your old fashioned, maple syrup is a great substitution for a simple syrup. Adds much more flavour, and plays great with the sweetness of the bourbon and the orange flavour from the garnish.

Thanks a lot for letting us have a little peak into what it's like behind the bar as well. I've always wondered what it looked like since bottles, tools and whatnots seems to disappear into this enigmatic void on the other side of the mahogany. I'll see what I can do to try to conjure up something tasty and hopefully somewhat inventive. Cheers and keep up the good work!

For an upcoming video you could use this distilled called Pisco, (Peruvian brandy). It's from Chile and Peru. It's very refreshing. The most famous drink is the Pisco sour, 3 oz of white Pisco (use a quebranta or acholado Pisco if possible), 1oz simple 1:1 sugar syrup, 1oz lemon juice. Put together in a shaker with ice and shake with one egg white. Serve in a short glass and top with a few drops of angostura bitters for decoration. Good brands of Pisco: from chile: "Control" or "Los Nichos" and from Peru: "Pisco Porton" is in my view the best Cheers!

Was lookin 4 Killing Eve The Twisted Obsession....last part...garnish w/grapefruit slice....just only need the peel itself....same w/Bluemoon...where u only use orange peel & not the slice....makes it 2 overwhelming that way...peel gives it just enough 2 not over do it....u would think they would no that by now...& stick it n tha drink itself...makes it way better when peel is absorbed n the drink instead of a slice on the rim...

Same with my Manhattans. You get a bit with the luxardo cherries as the syrup's already quite thick, but it's nice if you cut back on the vermouth just a tad and spoon in a little of the cherry syrup. :)

Coming from Wisconsin it's so bizarre seeing people make Old Fashioneds like this. Ours are very different: one sugar cube, 3+ dashes bitters (I go for 6-8 because I live dangerously but most find that sacrilegious), two cherries (always go for Door County cherries, they're less offensively saccharine than the supermarket neon red ones), 1/4 orange slice muddled in a rocks glass, always muddling the orange rind instead of the fruit itself. Ice, 2oz whiskey or brandy, finish with 7UP ("sweet"), Squirt ("sour"), or half-7UP and half-soda water ("press"). Garnish with a cherry and another 1/4 orange slice.

key west cooler margarita glass 10ml malibu 10ml vodka 10ml archers (peach schnapps) 10ml midori 35ml orange juice 35ml cranberry juice fill the glass with ice. add the midori and Malibu to a boston glass and simply swirl them together. Pour them into the margarita glass so that it fills the bottom thinner section add the archers and orange juice to a shaker (technically should just swirl and pour onto the ice but its easier to get the separate layers if you shake with ice) strain again as close to the ice as possible very slowly and this should get the separate orange and green layer do the same with the vodka and cranberry juice except this time pour the final layer down a bar spoon very slowly. should result in three separate layers of green orange and red. ive only been working on a bar for about a month and this is probably the most fun cocktail to make as the end result is satisfying and always gets a wow from the customer.;
