Thank you Ralfy for continuing to put out these excellent reviews. Like others, I purchase most of my scotch based upon your insight and depth of knowledge. Your explanation of the history of the distilleries is as enjoyable as the tasting notes. I must admit, I smile with delight when my email informs me you posted a new review! Thank you again! Keep up the great work!

Ralfy i stumbled on you page a week ago and i have watched all your videos in one week.. best Whiskey review ever .Im all the way in Kenya,Africa and to be honest my whiskey mind was very closed as I have been drinking only Johnnie Walker and Glenfiddich due to lack of exposure .Thank you for helping me see the light

Ralfy, I have really enjoyed your mini series of regional reviews, thank you very much. I have just watched the latest whilst enjoying what was left of a bottle of blended scotch after using the greater part for your recipe for "Winter Scotch" I used Grants Family Reserve for the recipe because a local store within dog walking distance are selling it at £11.49 a bottle... shame I only had enough cash on me for 3 bottles! Looking forward to your next upload, cheers malty mucker ;-)

I'd love a short presentation on whisky archtypes. Being new to the world of whisky this would be most useful. I've pretty much based my whisky shopping on your videos thus far and have yet to be dissapointed. Thank you sir for the wonderful whisky related reviews, musings and ancient lore.

I've seen a few bottles of this very release around Chicago, and I've been sorely tempted. I'm even more tempted now. Of all the distilleries I haven't gotten around to trying yet, GS is at the top of the list (along with Glenugie, but that's never gonna happen...).

That was an excellent series Ralfy! Very informative! P.S: If you like A'bunadh I'd try to get a hold of the Yamazaki Sherry Cask (not the Sherry Puncheon although that may be good as well, I just haven't tried it!) It's a great big beefy sherry bomb, It has that same dried fruit like prunes, sultana's and the nuttiness and bitter chocolate and figs and mmmmm *is off to get a glass

Currently drinking a 7yo peated Official Bottling of Glen Scotia(Single Cask, non chill filtered and no colour added) at 45% which I picked up during a visit to the distillery, and have to say I'm very impressed with it

As always, great review Ralfy. In Argentina is hard to find single malts (at least where I live), so I've based every single purchase on your whisky advices and tips. I can't thank you enough!! What about "Malty Miystic Monks" for a malt-mention? Greetings, Nano.

This series of explaining the regions is fantastic, Ralfy. I have been following you for a while and thoroughly enjoy your reviews. Ever thought of writing a book about all this? Either way, love your style, great, no B.S. reviews. I enjoy all the extra information you give around the whisky, like pieces of history, information about the region etc. (by the way, ironic how my spell check told me I misspelled "whisky" and suggests "whiskey")

Thanks Jan Chlubna So I Googled Dewar Rattray Glen Scotia, and found it stateside in Chicago, in a shop that only does local pick up. Only a 2 thousand mile commute, one way, to get this bottling. Alas, too far. Although locally in my area, there are Glen Scotia whiskys, but not the Dewar Rattray.

Thanks Ralfy, Just picked up an independant bottler of this stuff. Happens to be a 19 yo too. I had a taste at a show, all great but this one was awesome Next weekend we will give it a go. 2 good friends and put it back in the vault. We will have a few other specials. I would like your opinion on Hellyers Road "peated' I smelt it from my friends glass!!! Sweet soft and peated. Another whisky buff dumped on it. I think it will take off. Maybe it has I can't find it anywhur except online. thanks

There is a 1991 version of Glen Scotia from a Swedish independent bottler called "Part nam Angelen" and its very good one!

Fascinating review once again! What are your thoughts on Kilkerran? I tasted one at George Hotel in Inveraray in April, and I remember a very young and reckless dram. Would you recommend the Glen Scotia 1999 American Oak single cask (if you have tasted it)?

Ralfy you should visit New Scotland/ Nova Scotia. The strongest man in recorded history, 7 foot 9 Angus MacasKill was born in Scotland and as a child moved to Nova Scotia in the Cape Breton region. Alexander Graham Bell the inventor of the telephone also lived in Cape Breton, N.S where the first phone call was made ever, there. Some Cape Bretoners' still speak Gaelic. Two other giants from this province of Canada, Anna Swan and Martin Bates married and had the largest baby weighing in at 22lbs.

~ Ralfy ~ I've been watching your videos and I've picked up that you've done some world traveling. It would be interesting if you would present travel advice based on your experiences in those countries on your website.

Hi Ralfy - have you had a chance to taste any of the newly launched official bottlings (10, 12, 16, 18 and 21 Year Old) yet? The design is hideous, but they seem to have gone for a craft presentation of what's inside, bottling unchillfiltered and at 46%...
@dvdbloke12 жыл бұрын
Hiya. Wondered if you have had a taste of the Glenfiddich 15 Distillery edition (51% - non-chill filtered) at all, and if a review was likely sometime in the future? Keep up the good work mate! ;)

long time viewer, first time writer. I must have seen hundreds of your videos, however I'm not much of a scotch drinker. I have to ask: how is it you come to the conclusion that some whiskies have chocolate, minty, or fruit notes? Chocolate or fruit isn't an input in whiskey (or is it?) so how do you come to these conclusions? It's very mysterious to me yet I find it quite interesting. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to 274 :D

2 Questions....but first I'd like to express my appreciation for your mini geography primers on regions of Scotlant. Y'know, I have a little Scottish in me from both sides of the family, and I don't mean that in a funny way. [Uno] My, but that's a dark colored whisky. Is that from the natural sugars in the casks? I would think that all distilled liquors are clear when fresh from the still. [Dos] What was the name of that indie bottler for this Glen Scotia 19yo?

Hello, Ralfy. Could this sophistic taste of Glen Scotia be compared with the Old Pulteney 17?

After reading up on Glen Scotia on various sites (including whiskyfun, thanks), consistency doesn't seem to be their strongest suit. I think I won't bother with it for now. I will be on the look out for the indies though :)
@porritt21512 жыл бұрын
Hi Ralfy, I know there are alot of dark flavours in this one, was there any mention of the addition of E150A? I would imagine not from an independant bottler. Do you think there will ever be a spirit you would rate 100/100; what would it take?
@shuboy0512 жыл бұрын
It's most likely the aging and the fact it was aged in a sherry cask (since the indis don't use coloring). I have to say it's a nice color.
@gijsl12 жыл бұрын
It might be the lighting, but that is some dark stuff! Is that purely by aging?
