I love the Peat Smoke of Clan MacGregor . This is my go to Budget Brand . I drink 4:1 with Water . Your pallet will grow to love it .

Yeah, I was drinking Johnnie Walker Red like it was water. Then I bought a bottle of Clan McGregor during a budget crunch, and it tasted pretty good. Not sweet upfront, but in the aftertaste.

Love the channel! I decided to go into the cheaper scotches to see what they have to offer. I was told by a total wine employee that this was "basically an Irish whiskey" and that "if it says whiskey after blended Scotch then it's not true Scotch" then directed me to Bankers Club.... I asked "is this a total wine brand?" SURE WAS. I then asked him to point out a blended Scotch that doesn't say whiskey after it, he replied after looking through the blended area "well there's been allot of label changes lately". He added that "Clan McGregor was over priced @ $17 a half gallon but would be worth $14" haha. They always push in house brands everytime and it's frustrating, I want to explore new whiskeys. Listen to Daniel and Rex and not the total whiners

Bought that Spaniard when I was down for Somm 2 in November. It is pretty darned tasty! But I really enjoy a good wine cask. That one actually hits me with a bit of a peppery note. Not like rye, but in the way a rich, savoury red wine is peppery.

Came across the Clan in a bottom shelf review, tried it and it is now my budget go-to. I find some iodine-phenol in it, maybe that's just me, still, for about $12 a liter it's not a bad choice.

Those McClellan single malts are pretty good. I just bought my first Clan MacGregor and it is surprisingly palatable. I sense this will make a good Scotch and Soda. More to follow.

I'll have to try the McClellan Islay again. I was a lot newer to Scotch whisky back then, but all I remember is the funk. It was fruity and smooth, but funky.

Bought a bottle because it was $9 and am pleasantly surprised. It doesn't have a crazy amount of flavor or much if any complexity, but it isn't bad at all. I bought it intending to use it as a cheap whiskey for coke or coffee or whatever but I actually like it neat, though thats not to say I won't use it to mix drinks too.

Daniel is spot on, on his tasting notes for this one. Definitely better than J-Waker Red. There really isn't anything too pronounced in this. Not too shabby for a sipping session. Pretty good with a mild cigar too. I keep coming back to this one. On ice it's actually quite pleasant...

Frankly, Clan MacGregor is a lot better then I thought it would be. I expected it to taste like men's cologne, but it's a lot sweeter and smoother than I expected. The nose is nothing to write home about, but it tastes 'rounder' than Johnnie Walker Red.

DARN YOU ALL TO HECK! I used to drink Clan McGregor with a splash of ginger ale in college. Not because I wasn’t a whiskey drinker, but because it was soo horrifically bad. Since you’re saying it’s a’ight, I just might (against better judgment and every fiber of my being) go pick up a bottle and try it again after 8 years of avoiding it. It is only $8 here in Maryland, so I guess no harm done if I have to relegate it to my mixer/I’m-just-drinking-to-get-drunk whiskey.

Interesting. I had always wondered about this one. I still think I would take a Dewars 12 vs this as I see them close to the same price. Not the Dewars white label mind you, but the 12. So many people mix them up. Usually a Dewars 12 yr is about $18-$20 in my area. It is a nice, low budget Scotch too. Closer to an Irish in it's sweetness, and not nearly as smokey as some Scotch. Right up my ally as I love a good Macallen 12 or Glenmorangie. But they are getting to be $60/$40 respectively out here in South California. But...I might have to break down and try the MacGregor....if I can ever find it in a smaller bottle like you have. All I find is 1.75. =P Also @Darren Mconnel (not sure of spelling bud) Sorry to hear about your family member. Cheers bud! Surprisingly this isn't terrible, you say? I'm sold. I love me some blended scotch to sip, although I venture to bottom shelf territory very carefully as I burnt myself before. If your tasting notes are accurate I have a feeling I'm gonna really like this. It's price is 11-15 and 20 dollars nearby for 750-1000 and 1750 ml bottles. PS.: I think you can read the brand clearly on the cap so the sock is kinda useless anyway..

The greatest deal in whisky, and it’s not even close. I can get a liter for $12 and a 1.75L for $17. It’s smooth even neat. On the rocks, it’s scary-easy to throw back. Perfect for every style of drinking....neat, rocks, mixer...it overachieves in all three. I don’t care what your budget is,this belongs in your bar. The epitome of the daily sipper.
