Fruit, ripe red fruits, dried fruits, dates, plums, old leather, tobacco, cinnamon, oak, spicy
The taste:
Oak, spicy, tangerine, red oranges, dark fruits, cooked fruits
The finish:
Liqueurs, long

I kept my Glengoyne 25 unopened until a significant event occurred. This past August my granddaughter started walking, so I told her daddy (also a whisky lover) that her walking was a significant event and we must open the bottle!! It was/is magnificent!! As of Jan 2020 I still have 1/2 the bottle left, and will likely have some today, after watching this video again, but what a wonderful dram. I have two bottles of Glengoyne 30 in my safe, so I'm wondering what kind of special event it will take for me to open them!!

I enjoyed a bottle of the Glengoyne 21 with family over a week long holiday very similar impressions to the 25 you tasted here. Such a delicious dram and a great value for a 21.

Thanks for all the great videos. Question: Can you please comment or do a video regarding having multiple open whisky bottles. I am a new enthusiast and I'm concerned about having too many open bottles, not knowing how long open bottles will remain at their best.

This was an incredible dram. Unfortunately, you are probably paying extra money for the elaborate packaging, and prices for Glengoyne 25 have gone way up in recent years. The 21 year old is equally good and still affordable.

What is the difference between Glendronach 21 and Grangoyne 25? Which is better for you

The Glengoyne 25 is far superior. The glendronach is outstanding, especially recently as it was older than the age on the bottle! But truth be told, the Glengoyne 25 was supreme and world class. They're a lot more expensive now. But do try it.

@@Thori45 wow. Really enjoy it my friend and let it breathe and really savour it. Those who knew about it really called it the poor man's Macallan 25 because boy was it class in every way. Wish I had bought 10 more. The old style wooden box was just gorgeous. Now it's closer to £400 here and climbing

If you had to choose... Glenfiddich 40? Highland park 30 or glengoyne 25 ?

+Ricardo8388 Glengoyne 25 at £200 or Glenfiddich 40 at £2500. Not sure how you can compare these two. I had a Glenfiddich 38 year old recently and it was fantastic! It blew Glengoyne 25 out of the park, amazing stuff.

peanutbutterbummer Are you the type of whiskey snob who thinks quality is in the price? or are you the type of whiskey snob who thinks older is better? Let me tell you. The quality of a wiskey comes from the cask being used. 40 years in a shitty cask or 25 years in a nice cask -> I would prefer the 25 in a nice cask. Also Im not even a big fan of Glenfiddich who bottles everything at 40 %.. yeah the 40yr is 45/46 % ( if they bottled that at 40 they would be insane) But ive tasted all I found the 18 and 21 shit. The best one I found was the 14 yr old oak wood. So im sure I wouldnt apriciate the 40yr. Even if its tastey its not worth 2500 pounds. The price comes from being rare. Not from being the beste wiskey available. So Yeah you can compare them. I bet there are 1000s of people who if they had to choose between Glenfiddich 40 or Glengoyne 25 would pick the Glengoyne. I use Highlandpark to light my BBQ Im sure some people will pay lots of money for Highland park.

peanutbutterbummer Ow and btw I just saw they do bottle the 30 yr old and the 50 yr old at 40%. which is insane. Everyone knows 43/46% would leave room for adding a bit of water and open the nose instead of lowering the % under 40. If i payed 22.000 pounds for a 50 yr old I wouldnt want a wiskey bottled at 40 %.

Ricardo8388 I'm certainly not the type of snob who would say older is better, as I've had a few older whiskies which were not as good. Mortlach 25 year is no better than the 18 year old. Glenfiddich 18 is certainly not better than the 15 year old Solera Vat. Glendronach Revival 15 year old is probably better than both the 18 and 21. What I meant to say is how can you compare two whiskies which have almost nothing in common. They are from two distilleries with one aged an extra 15 years, and ontop of that they are in totally different price ranges. Why not ask, hey what tastes better Johnnie Walker Red Label or Port Ellen 30 year old. And getting back to the Glenfiddich 38 year old I spoke of. It was sherry cask, and it was bottled at cask strength, and it was indeed excellent.

peanutbutterbummer Well comparing a blend to a single malt is a bit stupid. But I understand your point. But the reason I asked was... A person who have tasted these 3 would be inclined to have a preference. So if you had to choose which one would it be. Maybe I should have edited that if price wouldnt be an option, but just wondering. Ofc there is no exact comparing. how can you compare a smokey wiskey to a non smokey ( peated or whatever). How can you compare a cherry cask to a port cask? I mean On what base can you compare wiskeys. highland vs highland? islay vs islay? I have the 15 yr old dronach and I really like it. Tasted the 18 a while ago and I liked it the same. Glen goyne is also cherry so Could I compare Glendronach to glen goyne? Or to benriach PX? I have them all.. Im just wondering what would you find a reasonable question? an If you had to choose between A B and C wiskeys. Should they all have the same flavor profile? same age? same region? Same wood?
