It's funny too that in the video of Mark Snow talking about how this song was created he mis-remembers the patch number as 126.

it's because Mark Snow's wife whistled along at the same time as the synth.

Adding some chorus (digitech Polaris foot pedal) to it improves it quite a bit.

What synthesizer instrument was used in all the episodes i can rememver as background music? The instrument sounds a bit like a reed instrument but of course creepy, dark. Was used when the characters were exploring
