Hi Mike, great to see it almost there at last! Never get tired watching these vids. Re external Rotor slot direction, at the risk of alerting the attention of the "INTERNATIONAL ROTOR SLOT DIRECTION POLICE" (IRSDP), we had similar conundrum very recently when fitting LOF supplied slotted discs, solid at the rear and vented at the front. We merrily slapped on the first rear axle right hand side with the slots flailing backwards (outer tip further back than at the hub) then when fitting the left hand side we noticed a sticker on the bag of this 2nd disc "fit to right hand side of rear axle" Oh bojocks, frantic searching of the internet etc and we came to the conclusion that we had the first rear solid one installed wrong.... (same instruction of the vented fronts and were consistent) Off it came after quite some discusion and searching, we accepted that the LOF instructions were correct and corrected it so all including the fronts are now flailing forwards. Fronts are straight inner vanes though same external contact machinings. Searching again tonight I find that its still all not that clear vs various manufacturers, a lot seem to flail forwards in the direction of rotation, but not all. (discusions of pad wear debris clearing, water clearing etc etc (Whether it makes a blind bit of difference, who knows?, though if internal vanes on vented are also faliing they seem to go in the oposite direction to the external machined grooved) Might need an video in itself to clear up! Oh for just plain old discs of old.... A link that neither confirms or denies which is correct : www.lotustalk.com/threads/brake-rotor-slots-forward-or-backward.463158/

Binge watching these ;-) Again, very informative and good to know as no doubt mine will need to be changed at some point. Sat for a long time and when it does go back on the road, the first port of call is the MOT place. I'll have to give the disks a scouse service on the way there!

@@BritannicaRestorations Sadly the business is now closed. Looks like they're selling of stock at the moment.

Maybe the days of the V8 are done? Most conversions here are GM LS V8 engines - more power and reliable!

Morning Mike, Have you ever been an instructor? Love the way you bring your audience into your videos, it's as if we are there. I ask because I'm a teacher who does the same with my class

My 110 I know im keeping forever, so I have a set of spare hubs which I make up as 'quick change hubs', with whichever set of rotors will need changed next (usually rust damage before wear limit reached), set of good bearings ready to be greased in them & seal etc. Makes changing a brake rotor semi outside far quicker, easier and cleaner if ive made up the whole hub assy indoors beforehand.

Very nice of you to copper slip those hubs so that the guy in thirty years time will have an easier job. In thirty years time there will be no one left who wants to work on Defenders so it will probable be you!
@BritannicaRestorationsСағат бұрын
There's nobody wants to work on them here full stop! Garages won't touch them. I wonder why folk buy them when they cannot work on them? A dream purchase turns into a nightmare!

@@BritannicaRestorations I will stick with my 70 series. Always wanted a Defender but I think one would drive me nuts!

I've stopped buying the sachets of one shot, they work out expensive, Morris K48 is recommended by Gwyn Lewis and Ashcroft for their H/D CV joints, it's available in cartridges (at least in the UK) and works out cheaper. It can be put through the grease gun for application and is great (being moly) for prop u/j's 👍

We cannot get that in bulk at a good price in Canada
