I also love randomly putting paint to paper. I love that you’re also encouraging others to try it! I know it has helped me a ton and can be soo very useful, even though it might not seem like it. It’s also very therapeutic and meditative. Beautiful work! 👏

How exciting! I love a new pallette. I picked up some Rosa gallery sets, they were on super sale just before Christmas. 50% off! They are extremely similar right down to the pigments. I can't wait to see what you do with these.

Love to see White Nights getting some attention! Also nice seeing you getting the fancy gift set, regular sets come in white plastic boxes-- but have a lot of mixing space.

Beautiful set. Thank you for reviewing them. I’m not ready for professional paints but it’s still fun to watch reviews. I have considered trying their general use grade.

Until you put the dark splotch right in the middle, i believe it was the Paynes grey… it really looked like a blonde girl with blue eyes. One eye being covered by the hair.. her head is tilted off the the side. You even had a reddish color where her lips would be! When you started talking about how you wanted to do a blonde girl I wanted to be able to yell thru the screen and tell you that you already were!!! Crazy how our subconscious is always aware and one step ahead in a way… love your work! I’m just getting into art after spending a lifetime thinking I had no talent. Sad… so many years wasted but better late than never!! After 18 months of obsessing over anything and everything art… White Nights was a recent purchase for me, hence me watching videos on them… I absolutely love them!!! About to go swatch my second granulation palette now! Thanks for sharing!

In most European countries White Nights are not sold anymore because it is a Russian brand. I got them years back and I like to paint with them very much.
@araceligonzalezgarcia693411 ай бұрын
I'm sorry to disappoint you, they are sold in all countries, perhaps sales have gone down because there are very good offers, that very same set of 48 full pans, my art provider sells it for 118€, which is 30% less.

I have no problem getting them. I’m in Germany. They are easily available in the EU. Artists are not conflated with the current govt. This company has been in business for 120 years - back to Czar Nicolas.

I like to plop random watercolor paint colors onto paper, let it dry, then sketch/draw on it with graphite and sometimes a single colored pencil.
@windywednesday416611 ай бұрын
I do that, too... it lets me practice with my watercolors and then I Zentangle on top of them.

I really enjoy this brand. Made the mistake of leaving the palette on its side on a warm day and one pan melted from the honey and dripped into the surrounding pans. So don't make my mistake :)

Thank you for sharing your experience with White Knights. I bought this same set for Xmas. Thought you would like to know that amazon carries three different White Knights granulating paints. I bought two of the three sets (each set has 12 granulating paints). I really am enjoying these WK granulating sets. Would love to know what you think of them! PS: have been in deadline hell-am still catching up on your videos….Appreciate your continued inspiration❤

These paints are sooo pigmented, almost too pigmented. I don’t hate them, but don’t use them for my more serious work. I find that they can be overwhelming. Easy to turn to mud when mixing, and some of the shades are more opaque than I prefer, and they dry a little dull. My two sets are over 10 years old, so not sure if they are still the same, but I really like the plastic palettes they come in, so strong and sturdy, and the pan size makes them a very good value. Mostly I use them for “fun” stuff, where I don’t do much mixing, like making greeting cards, stuff like that.

So, Kimberly Crick has a great database on White Nights watercolor with a list of the fugitive colors that she has tested. She also has a video. I'll put the link below my comment.

48 full pans for $180 is not very expensive. That’s only $3.75 per Full pan. 🙂

If you don't think 48 colors is necessary, why get such a big set 😂. White Nights also offers smaller sets if you don't think 48 colors is necessary. The smaller sets are also on Amazon. Some people prefer to have more colors for a studio palette, which is why White Nights makes bigger palettes, and why so many brands offer many, many, single pigment and convenience colors. A bigger palette size also allows you to divide up the colors into multiple smaller palettes.
@opalmint11 ай бұрын
I am not saying that it is not ok to have this many colors. I am just saying that those watching this video shouldn't feel like they need all these colors. I am working on getting my Daniel Smith palette completed, and it's 48 colors. Also, my sweet husband actually picked this palette out for me for Christmas. I would have gone with a smaller palette, but he likes to spoil me.

I try not to conflate all businesses with governments. White Nights has been in business for 120 years, through all regimes supplying artists. They are not a munitions factory, but employ artisans. There are many Russian partisans & protestors risking their lives within the country ISO Ukraine. Boycotting something simply because it’s Russian seems to be a very blunt approach.

I bought a 24 pallet of white nights several years ago. I have a lot of professional paint brands…WN, Daniel Smith, Roman Szmal, Qor, M Graham, Holbein. Still, I sometimes teach for my White Knights. I’ve always been happy with them. I would definitely re-purchase though I know they’re made in Russia. I also have Paul Rubens, which I LOVE and they are made in China.

It seems the professional grade boxes say professional in them. Many of the Amazon listings are for the general artist grade (which seems to be better than most “student” grade paints).
@Red_Carnation10 ай бұрын
Nonsense. You obviously got no clue. There's no "grades" of White Nights. Nevskaya Palitra is the brand and White Nights is their professional line of watercolors.. They also have Sonnet which is more suitable for students. That's it.
@selahr.10 ай бұрын
@@Red_Carnation your attitude is unnecessary and unhelpful. Blame the manufacturer because they do make some boxes marked as “Pro” and some not. The latest box I bought has “Pro” added to area where the brand name and logo appear whereas my set before that doesn’t (and was listed on Amazon as “artist” grade compared to Sonnet “student”). Some of their products are labeled as being “Extra Fine Artist Grade” and some of these are labeled Pro and some aren’t (the box, not just the Amazon listing. For examples see the granulating set of 21 pans and the 6 tube urban sketch set).
