I am not asian. Lol. But I understand you, I am dutch and people tend to call me german just bc dutch sounds close to the german word deutsch. Second, they like to joke about the disasters that happened in ww2 while many died jewish people, black people, asian people. Hey Sherliza. I love watching your videos and this is just according to me. I grew up in China, and this is what I know about beauty standards there. There is a trend of admiring white features and eyes and hair colour among girls. People love to have mixed kids is Asian countries, usually with people from the white race. If we need to acknowledge that. This is due to colonialism throughout the world. If you look at the photos of royal women from Qing dynasty they don’t particularly look pretty now a days. Which is with most historical beauty standards, but the popularity or high nose bridge and double eyelids being a signature of being is something different because most East Asians do not have big eyes and high noses, but actresses to name the more famous and current ones like dilraba(From ethnic race in China), angelababy(1/4 European) shows that there doesn’t seem to be a trend line here. Of course beauty is very much subjective, but growing up in China this seems to be the idea. The same is for India, their obsession with having light skin and light coloured eyes. The whole rainbow seems to be shifting towards the more lighter spectrum. You can deny it, but the fact remains. It’s important to point it out so we can see that sometimes what we may think we believe is a choice is but a social construct. At the end of the day, do what makes you happy, but when people decide to lean the other way, we have to be more accepting. I just don’t think the world is ready for that.

Some people are just stupid and do it for the "aesthetic," but I think others genuinely hate their race/ethnicity because they want an "actual culture," like something to be proud of per say. I see this as snatching part of autonomy from someone because they belong to a group that has power of majority and give it to another group that doesn't have the power. I mean personally as a half Korean, my dad who is white knows Korean fluently, but due to family issues, I wasnt able to speak to him often as I was growing up, so I eventually forgot the language. A few years ago I was able to learn how to read and write in it, and now I'm starting to relearn the language, and it's a lot easier since I'm able to talk more with my dad now.

There’s a reason why those three countries are always thought of when the word Asian comes to mind. China, Japan and South Korea are the second, third and tenth largest economies in the world. No one gives much of a crap about Afghan pop or Indian cartoons as much as they do about K-pop or anime.

Nobody forgot it's context based. In uk,Africa and middle east the term asian refers to south Asians mainly. It depends where u are. It's not like every single person in this world belives there's 3 countries in asia no. Let's stop overreacting. Its all based on ur countries experience. In fact in the UK, people assume india,Bangladesh and Pakistan are the only Asian countries. Why doesnt anyone talk about that?
