I’ve come back to your video again and again over the last few years. A lifesaver. Thank you, Jim!

Jim, I can't thank you enough for uploading this video. I have a White model 2037 sewing machine I bought maybe 15 years ago and never really got into using before life got too busy and I put it away. Recently I dug it out to use it to sew masks. I was sooo intimidated at the thought of using it, because I just couldn't remember much of anything about how it operates. The screw on the needle casing was broken off from something dropping on the machine and we were able to get a replacement needle casing from eBay and my husband used a Dremmel to saw off the broken one. In the process of trying to figure out what the needle casing should look like (before we found the one on eBay), I did find a service manual online that is for both the 2099 and the 2037 models, so I think they are very similar machines, other than that the 2037 doesn't have any of the electronic features (e.g., there's no window that shows information about the various stitches, the needle down/needle up, the stop and slow buttons, and the variable speed control, the stitch patterns are numbered a little differently, etc.). But all the other "mechanical" type features seem to be pretty close. This video has been so helpful to me in remembering how to use this machine and a refresher on all the things it can do. I'm sure I probably have the original video cassette that came with it somewhere, but of course don't have a VCR anymore to play it. Thank you for taking the time to get this online!

Sue does an excellent job explaining the features of this machine, how to set it up, how to thread it and use it.

Yvonne, I managed to find a service manual that is for the 2099 and 2037 models. I found a PDF of the 2037 manual on the hammerwall . com website and it looks like you can buy a paper or pdf copy of the manual from the sewingpartsonline . com website. I have a model 2037 also (mine was practically new and I didn't use it for many years) and from watching the video, it looks like the 2037 has none of the electronic features and some things like the numbering of the stitch patterns is different. For stretch stitching on the 2037 (the stitch patterns that are printed in green on the front of the machine), I believe you use the -S+ setting on the stitch length instead of what she does in the video of setting the stitch length at 4. Also, there's no one-step automatic buttonhole feature. The foot for making buttonholes is not quite the same, but looks like it works almost the same way as the one she shows. Although the manual says you get a blind hemstitch foot, I don't seem to have one and am pretty sure I never used it before I set my machine aside.

One step buttonhole my foot. 🙄😡😭 It does the left side and then the bar tab and just keeps sewing in the same spot over and over. It doesn’t come down the other side at all. I’ve done everything right. I have no clue.
