Thank you Emma, I've watched this twice and I can see although I thought I was being brave with my shadows - they are still lighter than yours... back to the drawing board

This is another perfect for me tutorial re: whites. Have just ordered the cool and warm whites. Hearing you talk about how you use pure white so seldom and the other lighter colours instead, is soooo informative. I've learned so much this morning in a short time, you are a wonderful teacher as well as an incredible fine artist painting beautiful paintings. Warm wishes, thank you so much !

So wonderful! I cannot get enough of your content! You create so many wonderful videos and paintings for your viewers, thank you! I have 3 white pets in my life these days and they are hard to photograph much less paint! You have once again made it look easy! I look forward to watching you paint more areas of interest perhaps in more detail. Maybe have an ear video, and paws too! Breaking them up into small manageable sized videos.

Hi Emma, just came across this and it is so informative plus your art is amazing. Can I ask if you 'fix' your work as I don't think you mentioned it during this piece?

Hi Emma, I saw a video of you unboxing pan pastels.... but I never seen you used it... don’t you like them? (I just bought the 80 set...I was wondering, did you make a portrait with it?)
@EmmaColbertArt4 жыл бұрын
Hi Julia, I do make use of them in some of the lower layers but to be honest they'll never do everything the sticks can. I just find the sticks do everything I want and that loading up an applicator with the pigment was a step I didn't desire. I like having them though as sometimes especially on Pastelmat, they'll help me block in a large area with the sponge. But I guess I'm just addicted to the sticks. You can see me make more use of them in one of my people portraits here on KZbin.

The light area pointing upward between his ears is distracting. With backgrounds I’ve found that it helps to ask if what’s in the photo really enhances the subject, If not, I’ll change it entirely. There are so many possibilities! What comes to mind is using the colors of the season the dog or guardian enjoyed/enjoys the most. That would add to the narrative.
@ArtandDiamondsWithEskies4 жыл бұрын
I'm quite curious why you see this as a distraction. I have several American Eskimo dogs and they are fluffy and white between the ears like Bailey. It's a distinct feature of their breed just as it is for the Spitz.

How did you make the basic drawing? Dis you project the picture or did you use tracing paper?
