Awesome home office desk setup! I really love the colourful wall. My favorite angle is 2. The second choice would be angle 4. Both because of the versatility.

Hey man, cool vid! I'm using the Caldigit TS3 pro as my hub, mainly used as a fast SD card reader. It's starting to age a little, so I use anker TB4 hubs to expand the TB ports on the Mac mini. But for legacy ports and the SD reader, the Caldigit is great!

i like angle four. Because you can install hometheter and from middle you can experiance surround sound from front,back,lest-right side and even from above. This will be grate and you can use it as as theater at home and you can play game better than headphone I think so. This my reason why I choose angle 4

Angle 3 for sure, because of the shot with the door in the background @2:30 is my biggest reason. So many videos that feel claustrophobic, but with the door in the shot, it feels a lot more relatable, like I can breathe. Interesting side note; when I was working as IT for big corporations, we had fascinating interactions with the employees whos offices were below ground level and without windows. The employee's have access to the outside camera security system in 4k quality which just shows angles all around the outside of the building including the traffic driving by. We noticed that the employees actually prefer having the camera's on the big screen tv's in their offices so we asked, "why?" Turns out, it's because it mimics a window in their offices and makes them feel like they can breathe fresh air, even though they were talking about tv's. Anyway, definitely something to look into, maybe add like a fake ceiling window or something I dunno, you're way more creative with aesthetics than me, just a random commenter's opinion.
@Whiteinrevery
@Whiteinrevery 2 жыл бұрын
really appreciate that advice. Will definitely consider it. I do have one small window behind the yellow curtains so I can get a little sense of the outside world down in this basement room.

oh baby that one will be insane! Been working on it. I documented so much of that process and have tons and tons of bts footage of that. Working on storyboarding it properly as most people will want instructions on how to build something similar so Im making sure it all is listed out in an order that is entertaining but still tutorial-based. It will be our favorite video of this room with insane before and afters while addressing all the issues I ran into. stay tuned :)

I'm curious what you did for the on desk camera rig?! How are you getting your camera and lens choice determined, and what are you doing for a key light? Currently we do a 24mm with a little mobile tripod. but lighting in a minimal depth area of our desk is a unique challenge i'm curious how you've conquered

I love that lens because of the 2.8 and zoom option. If I could get a 20mm 1.4 lens, that would be killer. I set the key light either by the top LED strips that I change to white or I simply add a nanlite pavotbe that is attached magnetically to an arm from the ceiling or near the table to add that pop. Also, when zooming, I just have a white bright tab open on my browser which helps really fill out some light as well. Then I add a hair light attached to the ceiling to make my outline pop a little more.

I hope you'll make new videos about your setup as soon you get the new upcoming Mac mini in 2022.
@Whiteinrevery
@Whiteinrevery 2 жыл бұрын
so we are actually selling our old laptop and the mac mini with egpu. We picked up the M1 Max laptop and can connect it to all the same monitors and its so amazingly fast that we don't need anything else. Plus it's versatile and can travel with us. Because we still use the LG Ultrafine 5k monitor, it has multipl Thunderbolt ports in the back so we can still connect a mic, audio interface, and more without losing ports on the laptop.

So, if you want to connect your microphone, you're routing the cable from the back of the table, to the front in order to use the Scarlett interface? Or do you have another pre-amp for the mic?
@Whiteinrevery
@Whiteinrevery 2 жыл бұрын
there are two ways to use the mic. XLR from the mic into the Scarlett interface, or via USB into the actual computer. I currently use the USB route.

I wondered the same. In the first video, the talk of deadening the sound was lost on me when it still sounded super reverb-y. This one was better! Sound aside, I really like what you've done in this space and with your desk. I'm kinda wondering if I can mount a full size desktop computer under a desk.
