XLN because you can edit the sample start / stop (and loop?) which I think is a critical feature for this type of tool.

Loopmix is an entirely different thing though. It’s for mashing different loops as opposed to processing found sounds into drum hits.

If you want to save your money just throw your audio into a sampler and slice it. Then drag any rhythmic midi onto the track to trigger the slices.

Exactly. But Life has the advantage of infinite pattern generation, built in FX and how handy it is to send it straight away to the daw/plugin from your phone, amongst other things. It's a huge time saver.

Loopmix’s inability to edit the slices start / end was a deal breaker for me but I assume they will add these edit details in the future.

way too much involved with XLN's activation/authorization procedures....i couldn't even get RC20 to install. plus they are very pricey. Audiomodern has a no-nonsense system. You buy/you own/ you activate/authorize....done...make music.

I bought Loopmix because I didn't like the original EULA for Life (and because it reminded me so much of LoopMash which was a Cubase plugin... I think the original Loopmix, that got discontinued). But the audio quality of Loopmix is pretty bad. I'm currently evaluating Life with the demo, and like it so far. Although I don't think they went far enough when they updated the EULA, I think I'm okay with it as it is, so if the demo proves to be worthy, I will buy it. Love the syncopation dial.

@@gforced__9017 They can still basically do what they want with your audio. I actually wouldn't have a problem with this is if it were a $20 plugin, but its a premium price, and I think the customer deserves to have full ownership of their own material without the potential for XLN to use it however they see fit. It's not even so much about XLN. If things change for them, and there's a new owner, these conditions transfer, and they might not be so ethical.

For some reasons I can't load recorded sounds inside my Ableton session, it says "seems not to be an audio file" even tho it's WAV, FLAC or MP3, that makes no sens. Is there any trick to bypass the error message?

It is fine now. The initial terms was a legal disaster. The new one is only for them to analyze how things are used to improve the model. Meaning you will benefit as the AI model gets better.

The best would be if they were to give the AI feature to make the cuts and the randomization algorithm from XLN Life to Loopmix. That would be amazing.
