An alternate play style would be to build to the account you have/ enjoy playing. If you can always clear abyss after clearing the larger game content which is about 1000 hours at the moment.

Most will agree Kazuha is not a must pull...I personally don't think any unit is a must pull, including Furina, though I do think she's the highest value pull. But you called Kazuha a LUXURY pull. That's just going too far. Kazuha is an amazing pull, about as good as it gets until Xilonen comes out.

I used to love Noelle when the game first came out because she was a healer and I liked her English voice. Eventually dropped her but with characters like Furina, Navia, and Yelan I found an excuse to play 4 characters I love at once. Same with Diluc and Xianyun. I love having so many options now, I can just make random teams and get something fun and usable

For me, I went from full horizontal to a mix with a bit of vertical. Vertical only for my faves. Horizontal if I like new characters, open new teams for my faves or playstyle is interesting to me.

I started a new account to re-experience Genshin from 0 and the BEST TIP I can offer is: DO NOT WISH FOR INAZUMAN CHARACTERS! It's frustrating, annoying, time consuming, NOT GAME AND NOOB FRIENDLY AT ALL! Always wish on someone you CAN farm and level up because if you're lucky, or unlucky as me, and get Kazuha as your first 5* or any Inazuman (my first 5* on my OG account was Ayaka) you'll just not be able to use it for a veeeeeeeeeeery long time and if you want to, you'll be power crept by every enemy, you'll be stuck at 20 with Inazuma characters till you are AR30 and done with Dainsleif and Liyue/Mondstad missions. (Also glitch to Inazuma is just unreliable and frustrating as well)

My first limited character was raiden so this was even more noticeable for me, because her ascension boss has to be unlocked in inazuma first via quests, but that was my first goal to be able to level her so it wasn't that hard. I just unlocked inazuma as soon as possible and then her boss.

HARD disagree. Raiden was my first Meta character and a HUGE improvement in my account (and Kuki). Just because you can't farm for them at the moment, or even for a month - does it really worth it to skip them and wait a year until rerun? Hell no.

Just admit Mualani has the same or occasionally better firepower over Neuv and Arle but requires more attention/skill and move on! Doesn't the fact that she can reach much higher output than Neuv, even with being more skill dependent, justify her place alongside him? IMO, when we recommend new players unit to aim for, power comes first cuz that's what allows them to clear/36*. Ofc it's not the only thing as finding the unit fun and liking their playstyle is also important. I can find Neuv a snoozefest, or find Mualani easier to play than Lyney/Hu Tao, that's all subjective. But it's unfair to dismiss a unit's strength just because they're not literally hold down one button level of easy, right as they're decimating casual and speedrun clears alike. Even before this abyss blessing scam btw

​@@samirSch On how to build characters, yes. I have not found a site though that gives more like 3 team comps for a character though. Sure, some of those might have flex slots, but that still gives the feeling that you HAVE to have these characters to make the team work. I wish more sites would give substitutes for slots. As a new player, I had problems trying to figure out which characters in the recommended teams could be swapped out. i.e. Nahida could be swapped on a bloom team, not so much Chevereuse with an overload team.

Hate to break it to you, but Meta is virtually fake youtuber noise. You can beat Abyss with any characters in the roster as long as they're optimized via a decent team. Not only that, but nothing is forcing you to beat Abyss 12, just get as many primos as you can and then move on

People find different things fun 😊 I find the story, overworld exploration, spiral abyss, and imaginarium theatre all equally fun! I love building my personal favorite characters regardless of the “meta”, and I also love building “meta” teams. I’ve cried so many times during the story, but I also love to see “big colorful numbers go boom” lol. To me, it’s all very fun in different ways. I just pick which one I’m in the mood for at any given moment 🥰

Read this for update: What you really need to know before wishing: Xilonen is 5.1 she is a skater geo who has multiple builds for support and dps Mavuika who is the pyro archon who will use a godam motorcycle and is pyro set for 5.3 update. And these are probably the best ones to save up for There is also natlan ganyu in 5.2 Yw ppl Its just the product of hoyo contracts and rules, he probably can’t really talk about what we really need to know which is future character info and future changes.

I'll recommend every new player to get Nahida , bec hyperbloom is soo easy to play/build and deals insane dmg , you just need kuki Shinobu and you can get Xq from the shop , these 3 are already enough for clearing abyss, and you can use even Barbara/Fishcl etc for the 4th slot

Kuki vs Raiden for hyperbloom: I find most of it depends on the driver. Ranged drivers want Raiden and Melee drivers want Kuki, with some exceptions. Most notably for me is if I need a healer but don't have a better option because they are on my other abyss team

Not really Kinich and Emelie is the strongest dendro team right now. We’re not in 3.X where Nahida is godlike anymore. Nahida needs new characters to play around, her current best team is with aggravate Clorinde which is very good. Any other teams fall behind Neuvi, Arrlechino, Mualani, Kinich. etc. Bloom/Hyperbloom has a low celing since it can’t crit so it will never perform at the level as the current meta characters or future stronger ones since the highest ceiling is already reached. Nahida has a very strong potential since she has a strong kit but current roaster doesn’t use it in their best teams, in 3.X all the best teams used Nahida now it’s not the case. Still since she has a good kit they only need to release characters that will benefit for it

My problem with many of the meta argument is they dont define what meta is, this makes everyone base line different and some people dont understand where you stand, are we talking about fastest clear? Highest dmg? Best comfort? Cause we know every character in genshin can clear the abyss, and by definition we can also say that EVERY character in genshin have their own meta team which I believe is abetter way to define instead of mixing everything cause a lot of character have their own place

At the end of the day, pick who you like - and build around them. The only advice is really to try them out in their trial and make SURE you like their playstyle before you pick them. For example, Neuvillette is great, but some find him boring (speaking as someone who loves and adores him and uses him in most teams). Furina is a universal support, but if you don't like your HP often sitting in the mid-range and depending on a healer to get full usage, then she REALLY isn't a pick for you. Arlecchino is an amazing DPS, but some people cannot deal with her squishiness that may make some shy away. Nahida is an absolute must if you want to max out your dendro team's potential, but if you don't like dendro (and I've seen people who don't.... *hugs my little radish goddess to me*), then yeah... maybe not her. My rule of thumb when pulling is: 1) do I LIKE the character and 2) did I experience pain during their trial? LOL

There is no must-pull character. It depends on what playstyle you would like to play and build around it. Also, I believe that there is no bad character, only bad player. I’ve seen someone’s Aloy deals 1 mil damage.

One of my worries with Genshin's powercreep is if we see any of the supports fall off the map like Shenhe. Shenhe is a 5 star cryo support and she elevated cryo teams to the meta. But then sumeru comes out and freeze is just gone. Maybe we get a new cryo unit that buffs cryo teams, but that will just replace Shenhe unless mono cryo is a team.

I think you're being pedantic. Yes, technically, "no character is a must pull," but you're seriously doing yourself a disservice if you don't pull furina. So, so many teams BiS run Furina. Many team decisions boil down to who to run on the other side. If you're looking at a big general tierlist for advice, trying to broadly appeal to a large audience, saying furina is a must pull just makes sense.

This most recent Spiral Abyss has felt significantly easier than the last two or three. That also will reduce must-pulls if the content is just way easier 😅

There is less HP, multi wave, and shields to chew through compared to the 4.6 and 4.7 Abysses, so if your teams were not built for multi wave shields, it would be easier for you. The theory crafters have the numbers but I’d guess 20% less HP or elemental gauge. I saw all the shields in the previous Abysses, laughed, and got away with 33/36 stars without doing Retry Impact. Today’s abyss and last Abyss only needed two retries after remembering what those enemies were about for me to 36 star.

Mualani constantly misses her targets, Chlorinde can also miss her targets if you press wrong direction keys (which happens time and again :(), Neuvillette needs enemies to line up, Arlecchino requires some time before she can get the most of her mark. Navia is a bit simpler in this regard, but she needs more investment to get to Neuvillette's/Arlecchino's levels.

This tierlist is pretty on point, I've had so many characters that didn't perform super well that are in the "if" category and just exploded into viability as soon as I got their complete package. I'm so fortunate that I got C6 Faruzan because wonder is my favorite character in the game. he and my Arlecchino are both really invested and if I just want to blast through an abyss, I pick them. If you really put in the work to invest in a character, they're going to do well. Pick who you like! (Pick Wanderer)

I totally agree as someone whose favourite character is Diluc. I have put a ton of investment in him and while he isn't meta by any stretch of the imagination, he does MAGNIFICENT damage now that I have gotten his best teammates and even splurged for my first ever limited 5 star weapon which was specifically for him. Sure we could argue my Neuvillette does more damage or my Alhaitham does, but there is nothing on this planet more satisfying than plunging and seeing 200k+ numbers on Diluc. I've been taking him into Abyss recently and 36 starring with him on my team and it is INCREDIBLY satisfying.

I agree & think this is a fair take. I think you may be over-valuing Mualani a little, because her targetting seems a bit janky regardless of her potential damage ceiling. There might be no true "must pull" characters at this point, because everybody's role can either be substituted with other character's or is niche and optional. The og 4* characters and the national team archetype will probably remain viable throughout the game imo, because it's a good advertisement for the game being accessible to ftp players and counters arguments that it's a ptw predatory model

If you are short on time like me, go for meta characters first and one good dps/support in each element. Pull your favourites once you can 36 star the abyss and have good element coverage in theatre. This will reduce your FOMO/stress and increase your primo income to get your favourites later.

Bro casually displaying all GREAT 4 star characters to newbies, Bennett, Chevreuse, Xiangling, Fischl, Xinqiu, Sucrose and Kuki Shinobu. All these 4 stars are worth building and they will carry your account, they work fine at C0 but their true potential is locked behind their constellation. If you are into meta teams then i would say these are the only 4 star characters that you should build and none other. Along with them C6 Faruzan for Anemo Main DPS only and C6 Kujor Sara for Electro Main DPS only. These two only work at C6 and only boosts specific element damage. Some other 4 stars may be worth upgrading but they will work only in specific team and scenarios while these chars can work almost anywhere and have a lot of teams you can put them in.

I'd still advise new players to pull for kazuha even if he's not the best-in-slot for a lot of things anymore. He's still super flexible and easy to slot into random team. Easy grouping makes life way better and helps a ton with early traversal around the map. My quality of life shot of significantly both in and out of combat after I got him.

I don't see Genshin as having relevant power creep in terms of characters. The floor is so low in the game that even if a directly power creep version of a character comes out, the original will still work. The new one will just result in you succeeding better and/or faster. Your favorites will still get you through years down the line. Especially as new supports come out. The only power creep that will actually matter for the game is the challenges themselves. If they ever start introducing regular spikes in difficulty then it's gonna matter that your character is dated, but as is the floor doesn't rise fast enough that many characters become obsolete.

I don't have team for them at all as i usually play Ganyu/Tighnari so i don't have room for them and now i feel bad i listened to those "you must have X"

I did get Neuvillette C1 with his weapon and Arlecchino C2 with her weapon. At this point in my main account, if I really like and want a Character I will vertically invest to a point. Rather then a bunch of C0 with 4 star weapons… There are so many Characters I have but never even use. I loved Kinich and Ajaw from day one and I plan on C1 or 2 with is weapon. Though I have been playing for almost 4 years…So I feel like collecting more Characters just to get more Characters is no longer my goal. I also love my Alhaitham and he is C2 with his sig.

As a new-ish player that started around 4.2 and been clearing everything for several months, gonna share what worked for me: Get 5 stars Nahinda, Furina, Raiden, Kazuha - best supports, Neuvillete and Arlecchino - best dps. 4 stars: bennet, xingui, kuki shinobu, fischl, xiangling, noelle. And you are good to go. It might seem a lot, but i gradually collected/built them over last year and it started working pretty early. Started with budget hyperbloom + raiden national and worked through to build better teams. At first floor 12 seemed completely impossible but i kept trying, then i got 30 stars, then 33 and after trying harder - i cleared with 36 star once, and kept with it ever since. My current best teams are Neuvillete archon hyperbloom + Arlecchino XQ Kazuha bennet. Sometimes i tech switch like putting noelle to break geo shields, or putting an archer, or putting in XL to break cryo shield. But in general these 2 teams never failed me once i got them. If these teams start to fall of - worst case scenario it will be 33 stars instead of 36.

I am impressed with how well they thought out all the reactions so long ago to stop must pulls. Now we just need cryo to be fixed. It is the worst element now. Also, Sigewiene feels a bit weird she is a comfy pull, but she kinda depends on Furina. But I would probably still put her in comfy pulls instead of requires work, and that's the only thing I would change.

Question for you - I’m a new player, low skill but high research, just hit AR45 and trying to figure out what teams to build going forward. I’m mainly relying on Mualani (c1) and Xiangling (c0) for damage right now, and I lucked into a Kazuha but I haven’t completed enough of Inazuma to level him yet (used all my exploration gems from Mondstat, Liyue, & Natlan to afford those two five stars). My plan going forward is to try to get Thoma, Chevreuse, & Raiden, then wait for the forthcoming Nahida banner and get her as well. That should give me a Mualani/Thoma/Nahida/Kazuha burnvape team and a Raiden/Chevreuse/Xiangling/Beidou aggravate team, right? (and I can replace Beidou with Fischl in January when she returns to the Starglitter store). Assuming I can piece together enough exploration gems to afford all of that, does that sound like a solid plan, or is there something else you’d suggest? Should I just wait for Arlecchino and Neuvilette even though I have no idea when they’re likely to rerun?

My advice as someone who played for 11 months is to not rush or lose yourself to hype. This game is a marathon not a sprint. The flow of primogems slows down after a while and some quests are long and tiring. Try to avoid burning out. There is no need to rush through everything for primos because all the characters come back eventually even if the wait is long. I think Jello’s advice is good: figure who you like and build around them. If they aren’t on the banner you can save up or go for other characters that compliment them. Don’t build pity on banners you don’t want the limited character on. 4 stars are harder to get than 5 so don’t get worked up if the gacha isn’t nice. My plan when pulling is to be happy with whatever I get and hope for the best. I avoided the Abyss for about half a year because it was frustrating before I had built characters. I think sometimes it’s worth it to pull on the weapon banner because you need characters and weapons in this game. The good weapons to aim for on the banner are the 4 star. With that said prioritise characters because as a new player you need teams to use the weapons. I go for it if I can use both weapons. You need a lot of characters for Imaginarium Theatre so try to eventually build all characters to 70 so you could complete it. Don’t check every artifact when hunting for them. I like doing it in bulk doing sets of 5 condensed runs until I reach 100 runs or when the inventory is full. Using the auto lock feature to speed through the good ones. I use the strong box on sets I don’t farm through the domain (because the other set in it is less useful to me). Watch Jello’s other videos because they helped me when I started. My pulling guidelines are for me to like the character in play style and design. Especially if it works well with others I own. I also try to avoid characters that my brother goes for just to have a different experience from him. Check with yourself what you think is best for you in terms of investment. In general you can try to go for a few strong characters or multiple weaker characters. Maybe you already know because you have C1 Mualani (The only character I tried to get constellations for is Nahida because I want the best Nilou team) there isn’t really a need for high investment but it eases the pressure on good artifacts. To me the only challenging part is Spiral Abyss and Imaginarium Theatre. I think Emily can work well with Mualani. But she isn’t very free to play friendly with her weapon. The most important advice is to have fun, it is a game after all. Good luck 🤞

Dont pick any meta dps Play whoever you like. Just get the best support in genshin And you can make anyone a good dps. Best Supports lik kazuha bennet furina etc makes mostly any characater meta. Or atleast strong enough Id say meta is the support characaters not the high damage dealers. Support like furina is gonna be relevant even at the end genshin.

Looking at the new abyss cycle, 1 pretty noticeable thing is each chambers almost doesn't need grouping. If they make more abyss like this, I think Kazuha wouldn't as OP as before esp. when Xilonen come out. Ofc, Kazuha is still very strong, but I don't think he is as needed as before.

The two sides anti-Kazuha trend started all the way back in Fontaine after Neuvilette’s release: they’d put enemies that were nearly impossible to group (cannot be staggered, move faster than the Anemo suction, shields, etc) in a straight line to promote Neuvilette beam cannon them rather than pulling them to melee with Kazuha. As you mention, Kazuha was still useful, but you needed to manipulate AI so enemies group themselves for your swirl. For this Abyss, I’m not sure if it’s anti Kazuha as much as it is anti-“Circle Impact” to promote how Mualani and Kinich can switch targets faster than most on field DPS. They can’t get turned into a helpless ball, but I find most of the enemies started close enough together to be hit by a swirl. Before Neuvilette, there was usually a very groupable side and a less groupable side (since two groupable sides meant players owning the whole thing with Venti on one side and Sucrose or Kazuha on the other).

*Yeah:* this entire idea of *Genshin* moving from _"Support Meta"_ into _"Hypercarry Meta"_ makes quite a lot of sense as since the releases of *Neuvillette, Arlecchino, Mualani* and now *Kinichi* single characters define the best teams, while in the old days cheap *_support cores_* like "International" (Bennett, Xiangling, Xingqiu), "Taser" (Fischl, Beidou and Sucrose) and even "Freeze" (Diona, Rosaria, Kaeya) could "carry" any "Main DPS" into 36-Stars of the Abyss.

Going to disagree on this one. Kazuha is pretty much a must pull..without grouping, the game really gets to be a PITA. NO ONE groups like Kazuha groups. He literally changed my entire account. He also makes up many of the best teams in the game.
