Another great episode, Andrew. I was the copy editor and photographer, eventually editor, of some tattoo magazines in the 2000s and 2010s. Going to conventions or going into shops for interviews, sometimes I did feel very unwelcome, like I was an outsider trying to be in the industry. Of course plenty of tattooers also made me always feel very welcome, and I have worked in shops as well, just never tattooed. Hardy Marks reprinting some of their older titles and doing some new books again is very special for me, because I first fell in love with tattoos in print magazines and books.

This is so weird how you release this podcast as soon as I finish the book “wear your dreams” by Ed Hardy. The world is a weird place. Thanks for this 🤘

Tattoo City is an SF Landmark. Some of the world's best and most renowned tattoers have worked in that shop. I wish I could have visited one last time to see Kahlil, Doug, and Ed. (It hurts my heart; it's like a piece of our history has set sail.)

Thanks for this, Andrew. Extremely sad to hear the news about Hardy. Such a influence on so many people. Taki and Molly are great people to take over the helm. Wishing Hardy the best energy along the way!

Thank you for watching! It’s definitely hard news to hear, but it’s also nice to hear that some of his legacy can keep getting pushed forward.

@ You’re absolutely right. I discovered them through the Vice documentary and am inspired by their perseverance. Thank you for your channel as well. I’m a musician who studied music during college, taught for a while, and realized I wanted to pursue art instead. Your story and path resonates with me a ton. I always look forward to new Books Closed content. Keep up the great work! 🤘🏽

Really wish they could’ve kept the shop open, truly a historical monument. Can’t wait to see the future of Hardy Marks though.
