Honestly, I thought (thanks to Taz's commentary about why drinking water is a bad idea) that they were setting up a fall for Brian where he'd hit MJF in the stomach and make him throw up, leaving him vulnerable to a roll-up. But on reflection that would have just been too messy and gross, even if it would also have been a nicely ironic payoff to MJF thinking he's so clever with the hidden water bottles.

I gotta be honest, it was so refreshing seeing a casket/buried alive match. One of the few matches they “invented”. Calgary did the ladder, the Hell In A Cell was inspired by Memphis Cage, TLC was just a hardcore match. Royal Rumble was just a battle Royal. Also I wish the hell they would put the rules for a Texas Deathmatch and use a real Texas Deathmatch, multiple falls and all. Would change a lot of the dynamic too I feel. Also I LOATHE the Wardlow haircut, I mean if he lost it an in hair vs hair then maybe you have some heat, but he’s just a dude. He’s much better when he had the Batista look going. Put him in a suit, give him a manager or someone similar to Ric Flair (or Main Event Mafia Sting).

It actually annoys me how much they killed Wardlows momentum over the last year. He was on fire this time last year, getting some of the biggest reactions every week. Then they gave him the TNT championship and had no idea what to do with him. AEW is/was really good at building up younger talent like Page, MJF, Wardlow, etc. and getting them to feel like big deals and then when it's time to capitalize on the momentum they always blow it. Whether they wait too long to pull the trigger or they completely blank once they do pull the trigger, it's very frustrating.
@fattiger6957 Жыл бұрын
Yep. After Wardlow got the belt, they gave him no worthwhile storyline. Then they tried to humanize him by have him give emotional promos. Then they made him look like a chump when Joe took the belt off him and sent him off TV for weeks. And instead of Wardlow coming back and being a wrecking ball, they give him more sappy interviews. I think Tony Khan forgot why people cared about Wardlow in the first place.

My headcannon with the lack of countouts is that when they're both outside the ring, there's no point because it won't end the match or do anything to the score.

If both participants are outside the ring and the ref starts counting, if one person enters the ring while the other is on the outside, the one who got in the ring gets a win by count out which is good for one point.

So happy that House of Black won the Trio's belts. It was the only betting odds, that was incorrect.

I thought the exact same thing about the casket, wondering if it was supposed to slowly lower into the ground and then something broke giving us the admittedly pretty cool sudden drop.

Zero Hour/Buy In was a good "appetizer", especially If you love Lucha Bros. & Mark Briscoe kicking ass! Lots of interviews, many of them done by RJ City & they where funny. 0:00 It was a really good starter, wouldn't have mind if it had been a little longer, but it still told the story pretty well. 3.5/5. 01:55 I really liked it, especially the drama near the end & when the casket went down & poof, that was indeed awesome! 4/5. 04:27 A really great Trios match, The Elite always shine but here it was The House of Black who shined & them winning the title makes sense. 4/5. 06:10 You could clearly see that it was mostly Jamie Hayter & Ruby Soho who carried most of the match, I felt like Saraya was taking it easy because of her neck injury, but she was still great when she did wrestle. The twist felt very obvious, at first I thought Ruby was gonna be like the "ultimate tweener" which would definitely have been something different. 3.5/5. 08:28 This one was definitely a favorite, I freaking LOVE hardcore wrestling! 🤘 4.5/5. 10:59 It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either & it was sadly the weakest match. But I still liked it. At first I thought Samoa Joe was gonna win & on Dynamite he would lose it to Powerhouse Hobbs. Now I'm not sure, we'll see... 3/5. 12:35 I was pretty sure that The Acclaimed would win the Tag Team belts back, but it seems that The Ass Boys will hold on to it for awhile. I really, REALLY hope that FTR wins those Tag Team belts making them 2nd time AEW Tag Team Champions! 3.5/5 15:23 Not my kind of match, but they really did make it work & I was genuin excited near the end! 😃 4.5/5. My rate: A. Last year really wasn't AEW's year, especially after the CM Punk Media Scrum thingy, it really wasn't fair to put that much heat on the company because of one guy's ego outburst! It's really sad that Punk became like that, I really dig his work in the ring! But this was a GREAT START for AEW this year & this is definitely one of their best pay per views! I really hope AEW has a great year, they deserve it!

I was pulling for House of Black to win , but I didnt think it would happen even through most of the match I thought Elite would pull through . Nice surprise . I was stoked ! Two major spots took me out of the main event though . I mean one nutshot got TWO pins consecutively ? Them ball racks happen in every match and usually dont score one pin . My second gripe is the diving headbutt that grazed MJFs shoulder but yet he arose bloodier than both guys combined from the Texas deathmatch !!! I still liked it alright though . I thought it still had an odd flow to it . Maybe Ill watch it again and see how I feel .

Don't feel bad, Brian. I have been watching AEW since its launch and subscribed to the Being The Elite since the pandemic shutdown, but I still struggle to tell the Buck brothers from each other. 🤦😂

My only real qualm with this show is the amount of blood. Like, at some point, there's a line where it goes from "adding to the story" to "tasteless violence."
@Lostmymind1 Жыл бұрын
Wrestling is supposed to be a simulation of what would happen if two people had a fight. Now you add in things like barbed wire, and casket matches, and fighting for 60 minutes, and yeah, I can believe those situations would lead to a lot of blood. The one I don't understand, is how/why Dax Hardwood got busted open so fast, and so hard. That one I don't get. The rest of the bleeding on the show made sense.
