No, he didn't. Zelda doesn't reincarnate and Link doesn't technically reincarnate. For Zelda, it's simply her descendants who are destined (hence, the ones with strong sealing powers are the "Princess of Destiny"). For Link, it's more like his spiritual essence reincarnates within his descendants chosen by Hylia (who is ONLY the Zelda in Skyward Sword.

Just my opinion, but for me, Demise is the most badass antagonist the series has ever seen. Don't get me wrong, I love Ganon/Ganondorf, and he's a GREAT antagonist...but just something about Demise gave me the impression that he was on another level, in terms of pure evil! I would LOVE to see him return, given he's written in a way that does him justice.

Demise was a force of nature, the pure personification of evil. If I were to end the series, he would be the final boss. He started all this, it should end with him.

He reminds me of Morgoth/Melkor from the Lords of the Rings Universe who was the personification and embodiment of everything that goes against the creator god Eru Illuvatar. In the same way in which Sauron's rise to power was attributed to Morgoth so was Ganondorf's rise to power attributed to Demise becoming parallels to eachother.

​@@ZeldaLore I wonder if the symbol of the inverted Triforce could also be a reference to the inverted Triforce from Lorule? Come to think of it it's always possible that there's a Lorulean version of Demise responsible for also casting a curse on the Lorulean versions of Hylia and Link.

In Tears of the Kingdom I think we will see the reincarnation of Demise. In the Second TOTK trailer at position 00:01:58:23 to 00:02;00:24 we see Link facing the mummified corpse of Ganan. His arm is already damaged, along with the Master Sword, but not to the extent that the end is gone, it is still glowing. Malice spews forth, and I think that it then breaks the Master Sword, releasing the remnants of Demise. I think Links arm was damaged by the Zonai arm (if it is Zonai) because the pattern of the burn is the same as the Zonai arm. Maybe it was there to guard the mummy, to keep it from being tampered with, but I have considered that it was there to siphon energy from it, as we see the blue spiral going upwards. When we hear Zelda say, "Please, lend him your power," it is because this monstrosity is Demise or a composite of Demise and Ganon, and is more powerful than ever before. I don't think the Master Sword is repaired as its original, but that it becomes something new, more powerful, something that ultimately destroys Demise/Ganon for all time, causing the cycle since Skyward Sword to end. I think the TOTK storyline begins underneath Hyrule castle. 32 more days and whatever game time we shall find out this mystery.

After replaying (again) SS, only to see thectriforce reflection in the water during trial if you use first person, for me Demise and Hylia are brothers, like the "light Force Sister" and "dark Force Brother", in Clone Wars (Star Wars series). They fought, because they have different view points - Demise it's not evil per see, have honor, and hate the gods so much. I would love to know more why he hate the gods!

Well i believe he is the chaos , it can't be destroyed truly , fun thing is the final battle stage that he takes link to , is the demon world , yet looks beautifully peaceful and clean until the battle starts . Make us wonder what was his true form originally was .

@@coryfreake9070 it could be , in Japanese is called the clan or tribe of demons , the 'curse' of demise actually was not about him retuning but the hatred of his tribe always following hylia descendents and their heros , which is very interesting , means lot of possibilities.

I recall the game saying this tribe was _"banished inside the Dark Mirror"_ for attacking Hyrule long ago. It's always possible that the Dark Tribe and the Interlopers are one and the same.

@@Supasmartguy the way I could see it happen is Ganondorf's hatred and grudge being exorcised from him somehow, and that energy being reborn into Demise, as Ganondorf is the incarnation of Demise's Hatred and Grudge. Then, Link, Zelda and Ganondorf would face off against Demise in a final confrontation to end the cycle for good. It would mirror skyward sword with Link, Zelda and Groose (possibly the ancestor of the Gerudo) This feels like a series end scenario though, so I doubt they'll do that ever, unless they planned on moving forward with Ganondorf not being the villain anymore and allowing new Gerudo men to be born into their tribe, with new villains emerging.

His Japanese name can be translated to "Bringer of Demise" which basically the same meaning. Which means "Demise" is actually a nameless being that is titled as a bringer of it.

Here's a horrifying revelation: in order for Demise's curse to be broken, the Hero of Time has to fail. Let me explain: According to the Zelda timeline, if the Hero of Time fails to defeat Ganon, this failure causes the creation of the Dark Timeline, which contains the events of (in order on the timeline): A Link to the Past; Link's Awakening; The Oracle duology; A Link Between Worlds; Triforce Heroes; The Legend of Zelda; The Adventure of Link, At the end of The Legend of Zelda. You'll notice that the first Zelda game - the only game in the entire franchise that ends with Ganon dead and not returning in the next installment - is on this list. This means that, in order for Demise's curse to be broken, the Hero of Time has to fail to defeat Ganon. And yes, Ganon is dead for good at the end of Zelda 1, because, in Zelda 2, Ganon only shows up on the Game Over screen; if Ganon wasn't dead forever, he'd have returned as the main villain of that game. And it's not like Ganon COULDN'T have come back if he wasn't dead; he did so 4 other times in this timeline prior to Zelda 1, 3 of which were to fight the exact same Link (Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, and the Oracle Duology), so if he was able to come back in Zelda 2, he'd have done so.

@@wd3987 it didn't. All games still take place long before TOTK. The founding of Hyrule was after Skyward Sword, and I am certain the Hyrule we see on TOTK is a re-establishment of the Kingdom after the known timeline

@@josemer22 TOTK is a sequel to BOTW, the last game in the timeline. The events of TOTK's past take place long before BOTW, but after Hyrule was re-established long after the other games. The events of the other games are still mentioned, including OOT Ganon. Placing TOTK's past anywhere else would break the series in infinite ways, such as having two ganon's in Ocarina of Time, Rito before Wind Waker, and more. Hyrule's history is repeating again. New ganondorf, new Kingdom, new conflicts, new sages... It is a cycle with no end, this is the new cycle. The old kingdom was created by the Oocca. This Kingdom was created by the Zonai. Both are races close to the gods who lived in the sky and possessed magic and advanced technology, but are also different in a number of ways.

We kinda get a glimpse of it in the murals at the start of the game (which are plastered on the spiral walls of the sealed grounds). He had large horns. We can also deduce he had the same scales and flaming hair.

@@Frogman1212 yes seems as if King Rauru came down from the skies. The fact that he has no knowledge whatsoever of Skyward Sword or Demise proves a lot too. His people may have even died out because there is only him and his sister left alive (also the Ancient Aspect may have had some lineage to them seeing he's mixed with Sonia & Rauru looks). If you photograph all 12 ancient Hyrulean tablets in the sky, the NPC who does the translation explains like the thought and building of the Constructs were Zelda's ideas. Even the technology used to keep the islands in the sky, the new shrines popping up and the excavation of Zonaite were Zelda's ideas & information. If you noticed too, only Hyrule Castle is raised in the air (on rocks and not in the air floating), the others been in the Sky for thousands of years. When King Rauru and Queen Sonia first meet Zelda, they do not recognize her or her name or even Link (the ending of Skyward Sword, Zelda & Link live on Hyrule ground's and she wasn't a princess yet). Yet Queen Sonia states that Zelda may be from her lineage seeing that she has the power of Light and Sonia has the power of Time within them. Immediately after Sonia dies, Zelda gains the power of Time.

As for Ganondorf: "Deep beneath this land, our mighty first ruler imprisoned the Demon King. To ensure the king's magic would hold, we erected a castle here to protect this sacred site. Without the castle in place, the site may be disturbed, allowing the Demon King's hatred and rage to be revived. The preservation of this castle is therefore tied to the prosperity of the kingdom. May it watch over an eternal peace." When Ganondorf was sealed, his essence poured out unto Hyrule for years from preservation under the castle.

@@Frogman1212 what ToTK is saying King Rauru created the foundation for a royal family. The castle was built to contain Ganondorf and Rauru. The quote is actually found in Hyrule Castle explaining what lies beneath and that the castle is just a huge dungeon (or even sacred grounds) for the evil that lies beneath it.
