Who is arguably the Locust Hordes greatest general? It aint skorge. Its Raam of course! Thanks for watching Roannoke Gaming guys! I will be going over the lore and physical morphology of General Raam and what makes him such a physical imposing monster in gears of war.

I feel like I'm the only person in the world who knew that Karn wasn't really the first high general. RAAM and two Therons killed the first general, Uzil Sraak after he was demoted and RAAM took control of the Locust Horde. RAAM promoted Karn and Skorge shortly before he killed Sraak.

I believe Epic Games messed up with Raams Shadow dlc. The krill are very sensitive to light. Theres no way Raam would be able to use Krill during the day. It would make more sense if he conducted his mission during the night. Working his way with his team to set up seeders before the sun comes up. If the sun does come up. He could of waited until the seeders block the sky area where he needed to go.

I’ve heard of a fan theory that the Kryll in the RAAM DLC are actually covered in Seeder ink so that the sun reflects off of the ink and actually doesn’t “touch” their skin and doesn’t cause them to burn to death. Sounds pretty interesting

RoboSeal1 Yes but the Krill are extremely sensitive to light. Normal sunlight kills them. So it made no sense that Raam was doing his mission during the day. Hes still a beast. But I feel the Cog army would of been able to hold him back without the use of his Krill. Theres been no info if Raans Krill has special paint or oils to protect from the Sun. So Epic games definitely messed up.

This is actually going to need to be essentially reduxed as the Rise of RAAM comic has gone over how RAAM became General or rather Uzil of the Locust horde. Main points that have changed is that RAAM has never been a Theron guard he was lieutenant or Vold. Karn was actually the one to give RAAM the idea that the best way to beat his foes was to kill their leader RAAM was so impressed that he promoted him to the rank of Zami which i assume is either the rank of General or possibly the rank of Lt.General. Fun fact Skorge had actually predicted RAAMS death the same day as E-Day had happened and RAAM basically looked forward to it.

I've been thinking how some people compare certain characters to tools and had the perfect idea for Raam: A hammer and Chisel. He's got the brute force, imposing presence with his sheer size and is also extremely intelligent. Plus, having a hulking monster stride towards you that not only isn't attacked by the Kryll, but can use them as a shield and direct them, is pretty terrifying.

Great video. However, Raam achieved the rank of Uzil (high general) before Emergence Day. As such, he was already second in command of the entire Locust Horde after Queen Myrrah, before Karn died. Karn's rank was Zamil (general).

What are your thoughts on RAAM still being alive but changed by imulsion? I saw a discussion about this before since in GoW:UE I believe it was they added the extra cutscenes shwoing RAAM's body fully intact floating through the imulsion. Roanoke Gaming I'm not certain, to my knowledge it has not but crazy things have happened in Gears, hell the series thrives off of crazy things! I just wasn't sure if you saw the face in GoW5 trailer that reminded me and mamy others a lot of RAAM, I could maybe try to link a picture of it if need be, could also be a future video if your mind is changed. Personally im on the fence as the face does remind me of RAAM, but i've never seen someone in a situation such as RAAM's survive.

So I wanted to know if you have a theory as to how he controls the kryll, and I wanted to share my own. As far as I've seen he's the only locust whom has gold eyes and isn't lambent. Maybe he was exposed to a small amount of imulsion but not enough to go fully lambent. This granted him greater strength and size, and maybe without full lambency he also gained some sort of telepathy. The lambent locusts were larger, more powerful, more aggressive, and seemingly more intelligent than their non-lambent brethren. I haven't seen anything to go off of as far as exposure to imulsion not resulting in lambency or death, so the telepathy theory has no backing with lore but I can't imagine any other way he might be able to control the kryll.

My theory on the kryll would have to be sort of like a flock of birds. They know to flow together in certain ways without instructions being told. The only issue with the continuity between games and comics comes with comic Rise of RAAM. Where RAAM is Vold (lieutenant) under Uzil (general) Sraak. While in Gears Judgement Karn is said to be a general while in Rise of RAAM, Karn is a Vold who follows RAAM after he usurps the leadership from Sraak. RAAM achieved this by having Myrrah understand the war with the Lambent is lost. And then convinces her to attack humans which would be a much easier target. He secured his role as Uzil/General after Sraak was demoted from Uzil to Vold. And during their whole plan to attack the surface, Sraak had come back to challenge RAAM for the title of Uzil. Now keep in mind Sraak is 12 feet tall while RAAM was 10 feet tall. And Sraak had power armour also. But RAAM killed Sraak with his bare hands by ripping the chest armour off of Sraak and by ripping out his heart. Also RAAM and Skorge were great friends, hence why we see Skorge lead the horde in Gears 2, because RAAM had appointed Skorge as his successor if he were to perish. On a completely different side note, here's a quote from Myrrah that states if humans weren't so ignorant and blind they could worked together to combat the Lambent, "We could have cooperated with the groundwalkers for our mutual salvation, but they are humans and they only understand dominance and ownership. All that we have left is a war to the death. For all their so-called intelligence, humans are blind to the threat right before their eyes. We never stood a chance of enlisting their aid, so now we fight alone. And we will stand on their corpses to do so." So yeah, imagine a completely different world were the Locust and Humans worked together instead of fighting each other to extinction. Either way, there's still a lot more to RAAM then what's let on in the games. Have a nice day all. P.S. He's also my personal favourite Locust. Nothing like lumbering through the campaign to just behead people. I also love when you break through a concrete barrier and he rasps out "Destroy." My personal favourite line of his.

I honestly only got the first comic of The Rise of RAAM series and the Gears of War Omnibus Part 1 comic a weekend or two ago. So I'm a bit behind on the whole comic lore of Gears of War. But it's my most favorite game ever. Hence I'm finally going for the Gilded RAAM. Just have to get to Re Up 10 and finish the campaign co-op hardcore before the 9th of next month. So I have my hands doing all that.

Years late but this got me thinking that locust might be similar to Orkz from 40K where they start out beastly, but the more they fight and survive tough battles it just makes them stronger, bigger, and meaner. Where Raam might have been just a lowly drone at one point. His absolute beastliness caused him to grow bigger and bigger and stronger to the point he became what he was at the end.

According to the comics, Karn killed sraak the previous Uzil (general) during the first hour of the invasion of the surface and he made Karn what I believe was a voeld to lead his attack on the surface, not to be a general but more of a flag man to lead the first strike

They keep adding to the lore with comic books and whatnot, but I think the less we’ve known about the locust, the more terrifying and interesting villains they are. I hope the Locust still remain mysterious and that Gears 5, which seems to be shifting focus towards Kate and her connection to the Locust Queen, doesn’t completely ruin that mysterious aspect of the Locust we’ve all known and loved since Gears 1.
