Kate Bishop is my favourite member of the Young Avengers. Hailee Steinfeld played her amazingly in the Hawkeye series. Can't wait to see more of her in the MCU.

They did an excellent job giving a lot of the "complete mess" aspects of Fraction-Aja's Clint Barton to Kate. Barton is still old and deaf and always sore. But since MCU Clint is extremely competent, giving Kate the attribute of being a hot mess was perfect. It gels pretty well with her character's cockiness.

Kate Bishop is my favorite character in all of Marvel, maybe in all of comics. The Runaways are what got me to read comics for the first time, but Kate is what really got me into comics. I saw so much of myself in the way that she’ll be in way too deep but always finds her way out the other end. Pleasant surprise of my life that she was adapted well into the MCU. I’m so grateful for that. I was ready to not like it, but it was exactly what I wanted her to be. The Young Avengers run with America, Kid Loki, and Marvel Boy etc is one of my favorite books of all time.

Hailee Steinfeld is an amazing actress. She absolutely held her own in the Cohen’s remake of True Grit, opposite a bunch of huge stars that were all at least three times her age. In fact, I’d say she stole that show.

Honestly as a fan of both Hawkeye's I wouldn't recommend Lemire's All New Hawkeye to anyone. The characterizations feel largely reductive in too many ways. I'd suggest the triple pack of Hawkeye (2016), West Coast Avengers and Generations Hawkeye all by Kelly Thompson who seems to be the one of the few people able to build solid stories on the Fraction reimaginations of those characters.

Just for some age clarity. She’s explicitly seventeen and then turns eighteen during the events of Kieron Gillen’s run, so she’s probably fifteen or sixteen during her time in the first Young Avengers book. These days she seems to be in her early twenties, maybe nineteen at the youngest. I hope she’s just taking a gap year, and hasn’t given up on college entirely.

Isn't a bit weird that every time Marvel replaces a long-standing superhero with a young woman they are always better than their predecessor? X-23 was also called a "better wolverine". Usually when a man has to step up for another superhero, his first arcs are all about doubt and if he is good enough for the job, like Miles Morales, but the women are always just better, they have everything figured out instantly and are much stronger and efficient than the guy who was doing it for decades. Just something I noticed.

As far as I can tell Kate is just as much of a hot mess as Clint, and I love her for it. One of my other favorite female legacy characters is Spider-Gwen, who's somehow an even bigger hot mess than Peter Parker.

@@BuddhaMonkey7 Gwen's Peter Parker died but that was just to mirror Peter's Gwen dying other than that Spider-Gwen has gotten way better than what Peter has gone through. You could say it's because Peter has 60 years of comics compared to Spider-Gwen less than a decade but that's another argument entirely. It's true that Clint actually got much better together than Kate but it doesn't stop Kate from having an inflated ego and unearned confidence. So sure Kate isn't the "best hawkeye" but she sure think she is, which is somehow even worse.
