Thank you pastor Doug. I also read this in a book a couple days ago... Michael is Christ. Three very simple scriptures will show us that. “Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil, He disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.” Jude 9. There we find that Michael is spoken of as the archangel. And in Thessalonians Paul says, “For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel.” 1 Thess. 4:16. The Lord Himself shall descend with the voice of the archangel. But we read in John 5:25, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, … and shall come forth.” Michael is the archangel; the Lord will descend with the voice of the archangel; and it is the Lord’s voice that calls the dead from their tombs.

Acts 4:10-13 King James Version 10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. 13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. PLEASE: NOTICE THAT IN JUDE THE APOSTLE BEGIN THE LETTER MENTIONING THE NAME OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST..THEN IN VERSE 9 HE MENTION THE NAME OF MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL.

Nooo...hm I think there's confusion with the identification of Jesus with Michael here.. The Book of Jude says: But when the archangel Michael contended with the Devil and disputed about the body of Moses, he did not dare to bring a condemnation of slander against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!" (Jude 9). Michael is obviously not the Lord. He could not rebuke the Devil on his own, but rather called upon the Lord to rebuke him. Jesus has no such problem with the Devil - He personally rebuked him, since He is the Lord. From that it clearly shows that Michael is not Jesus

Compare Zechariah 3 with Jude 1:9 a connection can be made to link Michael the Archangel with the Angel of the Lord. In addition this is another example where the Angel of the Lord is identified as God. The Angel of the LORD 1. Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to oppose him. 2. And the LORD said to Satan, "The LORD rebuke you, Satan! The LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?" 3. Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was standing before the Angel. 4. Then He answered and spoke to those who stood before Him, saying, "Take away the filthy garments from him." And to him He said, "See, I have removed your iniquity from you, and I will clothe you with rich robes." 4. And I said, "Let them put a clean turban on his head." So they put a clean turban on his head, and they put the clothes on him. And the Angel of the LORD stood by. Zechariah 3:1-5 9. Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!" Jude 1:9 In Zechariah, we see Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of the Lord. Satan, the accuser, is also present to oppose what the Angel of the Lord is doing. In the second verse, the Angel of the Lord starts speaking to Satan. In this verse The Angel of the Lord is actually called "the LORD". We know that the Angel is not the Father speaking. Why would the Father say: "The Lord rebuke you"? No, it is not the Father. It is the Son! One Lord is speaking of the other Lord. The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool" Matthew 22:44 The Father will take care of Satan in due time for Jesus/Michael. At the time He leaves the rebuking to the Father. But, God will judge in the heavenly court and Jesus will be given the kingdom at that time. Jude 1:9 is an interesting parallel. In it we see Michael the Archangel doing the very same thing that the angel of the Lord did in Zechariah. But this time it is Michael the Archangel saying: "The Lord rebuke you". The three things in common that connect Zechariah 3:1-2 and Jude 1:9 are: (1) They are referring to the same person. The Angel of the Lord is Michael the archangel. (2) In both texts, Satan is confronted. (3) Both times, He does not accuse Satan directly, but he refers the rebuking of Satan to the Father. Both times He says: "the Lord rebuke you". So Satan is approached in the same way. So we again have the Angel of the Lord identified as Lord. The Angel of the Lord is shown to be God. Also remember that we have already seen a direct link between the Angel of the Lord and Jesus. Thus Jesus, Michael the Archangel, and the Angel of the Lord are connected in this comparison. However we now see that Jude in connection with Zechariah is really an evidence showing that the Angel of the Lord is actually Michael or Jesus.

@@@kingscordova5948 : This is cultish rendering and interpretation of scripture. This is why Adventism has a heterodox theological endowment and is not biblical consistent. During the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ, He Christ always exalted His father though being equal to God humbled himself. There is no angel, arch angel or not who is equal to God, nor is eternal in origin. The SDA is not the only non heterodox christian organisation to hold this position. The Jehovah's witnesses also asceed to this argument. For context please consider this scripture: Philippians 2:6-11 King James Version (KJV) 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

If you follow the life of Moses you would see that God called him up to the mountain and after showing him the holy land Moses died and God buried him himself and no man knew where the grave is Deuteronomy 34 vs 5, 6. Therefore for Moses to appear at Jesus's transfiguration with Elijah Mark 9: 4 then it means he was resurrected from the grave and Jude vs 9 reveals how it was done when Jesus raised Moses but Satan was there to dispute that Moses didn't deserve to be a saint as he will dispute with all who God choose to save .

@@gbrushhour Again thing is you cannot explain why in all the Gospels Jesus never says to Satan "The Lord rebuke you". See Matt 4:10 as an example. This is very important Jesus spoke with authority and when the authors of the rest of the new testament addressed Jesus they addressed him with authority over Satan as the battle had been won at the cross of Calvary. Jude 9 clearly states the Michael the Archangel says to the devil "The Lord rebuke you" because they are not the same person.

See how the man in Daniel's vision is described, and his descripion seems to match Jesus' in Revelation? There is also a clear distinction between that man and Michael. Daniel 10:6,11 [6]His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude. [11]And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling. Daniel 10:7,10-14 [7]And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves. [10]And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands. [11]And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling. [12]Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. [13]But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. [14]Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days. I believe that the person speaking is the Lord before he took on flesh. There is a clear distinction between him and Michael. Please do not delete my comment so that others may read it.

Daniel 10:13 King James Version 13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. My question is if Michael is one of the chief princes, not the chief prince. So Michael is lower than God , which means Michael is not Jesus. Second thing, being like God doesn't mean that you are God. Jesus is the great I am. Michael is like God.

Also John Chapter 1, In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. Not Michael The Archangel. Case Closed.

Thank you Pastor! I’m confused about this Holy Scripture when Michael couldn’t rebuke satan: “But even Michael, one of the mightiest of the angels, did not dare accuse the devil of blasphemy, but simply said, “The Lord rebuke you!” (This took place when Michael was arguing with the devil about Moses’ body.)” ‭‭Jude‬ ‭1:9‬

Michael the Archangel is not Jesus for the following reasons: 1. Jude 9 states - Yet Michael the Archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but he said, "The Lord rebuke you!" whereas in Matthew 4:10 states - Then Jesus said to him, "Away with you Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God and Him only you shall serve.' " Notice Michael does not rebuke the devil in a similar manner Jesus does because they are separate persons. 2. The original Greek text in Jude 9 is 'Kurios' which is the same translation applied in Acts 9:11 which states - So the Lord said to him ......... Kurios or Kyrios (Romanised version) is basically translated to Lord / Master / Supreme Master. 3. Finally Michael Michael means “who is like God?” (from Hebrew “Mikha'el” or “miy” = who + “El” = God). That does not prove that he is God or Jesus. Remember we are all created in the image and likeness of God so if he was indeed Jesus why not just call Him Emmanuel in line with Isaiah's vision which is at least direct and means "God is with us"?

The book of Enoch describes the 7 archangels, including Raphael. It also is pretty clear about pointing that Mikkyel is the chief of them, and also the elect one. Also, angel just means messenger, it is an office, not a specific kind of entity.

@rookerman20 agreed, most angels described Biblically are heavenly, the ones that did not sin and left their estate. That also means, though, that not all of them are heavenly. Likewise, the same word used on the heavenly entities, is the same word used to describe John in Matthew 11:10-11....for one example. If you are relying only on a translation to study, you will miss the nuances it really holds.

I do happen to believe that Jesus is God the Almighty, Father of the old testament, which is one reason I left the SDA religion, But am still a believer in the 7th day Sabbath - Saturday. But I think the SDA's have a slightly different belief of who Jesus is. All the verses Pastor Doug refers to, I feel, were spoken by Angels, the reason I believe this is because the Lord is with His angels when He spoke, through the angels, the message He wanted to tell His servants. I feel His angels don't speak on their own authority, but only what the Lord "Commander" tells them to say. I found evidence of this in both Ezekiel and Daniel. As for Joshua falling down to worship, it was actually the "Commander" which IS Jesus. Moses fell down to worship, because God was there, but the "Angel of the Lord" was also there. I believe God was there with His Angel, just like He was there with His angels when He visited Abraham and Sarah. Again, I don't believe Satan would dare fight Jesus, he wouldn't have a chance. Michael the A.A fought Satan in the book of Revelation. If it really was Jesus, Satan would be consumed by Jesus God's breath

You are, I believe rationalizing when you say both God and his angel are both present with Abraham, Moses, Joshua, and Manoah because such would serve no purpose. If you say in Joshuas case Jesus as Almighty God was the "man" that he saw, you have a problem because Moses was told "no man can see me and yet live", and, John wrote at John 1:18, "No man has seen God at any time". BTW in Moses at Exod 4:31 the people did noteven see an angel. Now I have some questions for you. How do you explain Jesus was the beginning of Gods creation, his firstborn and his only begotten SON. Rev 3:14, Col.1:15 i John 4:9. (1) If Jesus is God how is the head of the Christ God? (2) Why did Jesus tell Mary "I am ascending to my Father and MY God and to Your Father and your God?John 20:17 3) Why did Jesus in prayer say "YOU the only true God? 4) Why did he tell a man "Why do you call ME good, only God is good. Mark 10:18 5) Why when in heaven did he say "my God" 4 times? at Rev 3:12 6)Why doesnt Jesus know what God knows Mark 13:32, Rev 1:1, John 8:45 7) Why did the Father have to grant Jesus to "have life in himself" Jojn 5:26, 8) Why did jesus have to learn anything Heb 5:8, John 5:19, John 8:28 Reply continued

Acts 2:36 15) Why does the phrase "God the Son" not exist in the Bible, yet multiple times we see "God the Father? 16) Why is he subject to the Father (God) like we are subject to him? 1 Cor 15:27,28, 17) Why did he have to be GIVEN all authority in heaven and on earth? Hey Pastor. All of that sounds really good. But I am still a bit confused. I know God's presence can appear with an angel (Michael for example), but how do you explain Hebrews 1:5-8? HEBREWS 1:5-8 👇 5. For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? 6. And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. 7. And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. 8. But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

This is some messed up theology. Just hearing you exegete passages made me cringe. -Could it just be an illustration? -Jesus was referred to as a door and a lamp RUSHING WATERS -Jesus is described as having a voice of rushing waters **His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. Revelation 1:15 NIV -Jehovah is described as having the voice of rushing waters **and I saw the glory of the God of Israel coming from the east. His voice was like the roar of rushing waters, and the land was radiant with his glory. Ezekiel 43:2 NIV -The sound of rushing waters is loud, an Archangel's voice is loud, we get what the writer is trying to say -------------------------------------------------------- MICHAEL DARED NOT ACCUSE SATAN But when Miʹcha·el the archangel had a difference with the Devil and was disputing about Moses’ body, he did not dare to bring a judgment against him in abusive terms, but said: “May Jehovah rebuke you.” Jude Verse 9 NWT JESUS REBUKES SATAN 10 Then Jesus said to him: “Go away, Satan! For it is written: ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship,and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.’” Matthew 4:10 NWT ANGELS DO NOT ACCUSE HUMANS 11 whereas angels, although they are greater in strength and power, do not bring against them (false prophets and teachers)an accusation in abusive terms, out of respect for Jehovah. 2 Peter 2:11 NWT JESUS ACCUSES HUMANS AND SATAN 44 You are from your father the Devil, and you wish to do the desires of your father. That one was a murderer when he began, and he did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks according to his own disposition, because he is a liar and the father of the lie. John 8:44 NWT DISTINCTION BETWEEN JESUS AND ANGELS 5 For example, to which one of the angels did God ever say: “You are my son; today I have become your father”? And again: “I will become his father, and he will become my son”? 6 But when he again brings his Firstborn into the inhabited earth, he says: “And let all of God’s angels do obeisance to him.”7 Also, he says about the angels: “He makes his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.” 8 But about the Son, he says: “God is your throne forever and ever, and the scepter of your Kingdom is the scepter of uprightness Hebrews 1:5-8 NWT

The word angel simply means from messenger most of the time it’s referring to the spirit beings that have wings. Humans can also be referred to as angels when they bear messages. You can’t ignore the context in the book of Hebrews. It is clear that he is talking about created spirit angels. However, in the context of all these old testament passages, the conclusion is clear that it was referring to Christ, the chief messenger that doesn’t mean that he was created.

Simply put, the Angel Michael is Jesus in heaven before coming to the earth and his name on his return to heaven. Paul prophesied in 1Thesalonians 4:16 saying : “The Lord (Jesus) himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call, with an archangel’s voice and with God’s trumpet, and those who are dead in union with Christ will rise first.” Here it clearly states that Jesus is the one and only who has the call of the archangel.... THE spirit creature Michael is not mentioned often in the Bible, but when he is, the context is always dramatic. In Daniel we see him fighting wicked angels on behalf of God’s people. The name “Michael” means “Who Is Like God?” so we can conclude that like God he is a spirit creature or an angel. Daniel 10:13 describes Michael to be one of the foremost princes. It is only in the New Testament that Michael is given the title of Archangel (or Chief Angel) and not before. So who is Michael? To understand this we must first dismiss what the churches teach, that Jesus and God are one and the same person, or part of a trinity. This is false and a pagan teaching incorporated by the churches some 2 to 3 hundred years after the death of Jesus and the apostles. It is not a biblical teaching. Philippians 2:5 to 8 says this about him after his return to heaven: "Keep this mental attitude in you that was also in Christ Jesus, who, although he was existing in God’s form (as a spirit), gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God. No, but he emptied himself and took a slave’s form and became human. More than that, when he came as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death, yes, death on a torture stake". compare how other bibles translate this scripture.. biblehub.com/philippians/2-6.htm Unfortunately it is very hard to differentiate between the two when reading many bibles. Jehovah God is usually referred to as Lord with a big "L", and Jesus as lord with a little "l" as the only way to differentiate the two, which is why the New World Translation stands above many bibles, because it returns the name Jehovah in all the 7000+ times as per the original and early copies of the bible as this short video shows www.jw.org/en/library/videos/?appLanguage=E#en/mediaitems/VODBibleTeachings/docid-502014331_1_VIDEO For his loyalty and ransom for man's sins as the Lamb of God.., God rewarded Jesus as Philippians 2:9 to 11 continues: "For this very reason, God exalted him to a superior position and kindly gave him the name that is above every other name, so that in the name of Jesus every knee should bend-of those in heaven and those on earth and those under the ground and every tongue should openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. biblehub.com/philippians/2-9.htm Yes, Jehovah God gave Jesus the privilege of being the most superior being in all creation next to him, and made him the Archangel of the King of God's (his) Kingdom as this short video shows what is God's Kingdom and what role Jesus plays in that Kingdom. And it was only after this act of faithfulness that Michael was granted the title of Archangel www.jw.org/en/library/videos/?appLanguage=E#en/mediaitems/VODBibleTeachings/docid-502017850_1_VIDEO Archangel means “chief of the angels.” The prefix “arch” means “chief” or “principal.” This definition, coupled with the fact that “archangel” in the Bible is used only in the singular, indicates that there is just one archangel. The Bible gives the name of the archangel, identifying him as Michael.-Daniel 12:1; Jude 9; Revelation 2:7. This is also confirmed at 1Peter 3:22 which says - "He is at God’s right hand, for he went to heaven, and angels and authorities and powers were made subject to him". 1Peter 3:22 clearly identifies Jesus as Michael. Revelation 5;8 to10 "When he took the scroll, the four living creatures and the 24 elders fell down before the Lamb, and each one had a harp and golden bowls that were full of incense. (The incense means the prayers of the holy ones.). And they sing a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, for you were slaughtered and with your blood you bought people for God out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and you made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they are to rule as kings over the earth.” Yes, the lamb was the one elevated to the most superior position next to God, and given a kingdom to rule. This king is one and the same as the one who is chief angel or archangel Michael. Note that the lamb was the one God elevated to the most superior position next to God, and was given the name above every other name on Philippians 2:9 to 11 and the kingdom 1 Corinthians 15:24 to 28 below. 1Corinthians 15:24 to 28 says that after the 1000 years of Jesus rule in God's Kingdom Jesus will: "Next, the end, when he hands over the Kingdom to his God and Father, when he has brought to nothing all government and all authority and power. For he must rule as king until God has put all enemies under his feet. And the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing. For God “subjected all things under his feet.” But when he says that ‘all things have been subjected,’ it is evident that this does not include the One who subjected all things to him. But when all things will have been subjected to him, then the Son himself will also subject himself to the One who subjected all things to him, that God may be all things to everyone". biblehub.com/1_corinthians/15-24.htm It would not make sense if he has to hand the kingdom back to himself, but the scripture is clear when it states that the two a separate as per all the other scriptures the bible indicate that Jesus is not God. Also note, that God's subjected all things to Jesus, but that this does not include the one who subjected all things to him (meaning God is still superior to him). and see Revelation 2:26 & 27. Aside from Michael, no archangel is mentioned in the Bible, nor do the Scriptures use the term “archangel” in the plural. The Bible describes Michael as the archangel, implying that he alone bears that designation. So what does this Archangel and King of God's Kingdom do as his first duty as King? The book of Revelation (12:7, 10, 12) specifically mentions Michael in connection with the establishment of God’s Kingdom and links this event with trouble for the earth: “And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled. And I heard a loud voice in heaven say: ‘Now have come to pass the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ, because the accuser of our brothers has been hurled down . . . On this account be glad, you heavens and you who reside in them! Woe for the earth and for the sea.’” (Michael the archangel) Jesus Christ is later depicted as leading the heavenly armies in war against the nations of the earth. (Re 19:11-16) This would mean a period of distress for them, which would logically be included in the “time of distress” that is associated with Michael’s standing up. (Da 12:1) After which the archangel will bind up the dragon and throw him into the abyss for 1000 years as stated in Revelation 20:1 to 3 says "And I saw an angel (the Archangel) coming down out of heaven with the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. He seized the dragon, the original serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for 1,000 years. And he hurled him into the abyss and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he would not mislead the nations anymore until the 1,000 years were ended. After this he must be released for a little while. see also Revelation 9:11

Pastor Doug, I have a couple of questions... in Genesis it states God created man in his own image or in his own likness in chapter one... was this mankind or the angels God created? I think it means man and not the angels. Also, when I read chapter one and two this revelation stood out to me. Correct me if I am wrong on the context...but this is what i understood from the passages. GOD created the world aka earth and he made everything good so he made man in his image male and female and we see He made the animals, the fish and whales in the sea and all creeping things...then I saw God created the Garden of Eden and he had formed Adam from the dust but not from the Garden of Eden dust. Then God put Adam in the garden after he formed him from dust and then God created woman from adam's rib. My question: Did God create the races before He put Adam in the garden? I been watching your program and I have been studying the fall of man...well the book of Genesis and I been looking at how and why satan fell from grace. When I saw your teaching on this Sunday before last I knew God was trying to tell me something important as to why people blame Him when bad things happen to saved or good people? God showed me freewill and Satan was the reason why unbelievers and believers have to suffer. Satan tried to ruin God's plan from the start. I enjoy your teachings and your program. I would like to know your thoughts on questions I asked for research purposes. k. williams

Justin Martyr (100-165 AD): Justin Martyr, an early Christian apologist, often referred to Jesus as the “Angel of the Lord.” In his writings, he mentions Christ as the “Angel” who appeared in Old Testament events, such as to Moses in the burning bush. Although he doesn’t directly identify Jesus as Michael, Justin’s concept of Jesus as the “Angel” or “Messenger of God” appears notably in his work Dialogue with Trypho. Hippolytus of Rome (170-235 AD): Hippolytus, a Christian theologian in Rome, suggested that Jesus was the figure conveying God’s message to the prophets and could be viewed as the angelic leader of heaven’s armies. While he doesn’t explicitly call Jesus Michael, in his work On Christ and Antichrist, he presents Jesus as the heavenly leader. Cyril of Alexandria (376-444 AD): Cyril connected Jesus with Michael as the leader of heavenly armies, interpreting Michael as an expression of Jesus’ power in overcoming dark forces. Cyril sees the role of Jesus aligned with the cosmic battle described in Revelation 12. Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274): Although not from the early church period, Thomas Aquinas commented on Michael in his Summa Theologica, stating that Michael acts as the church’s defender and archangel directly connected to Christ. Aquinas didn’t claim Jesus is Michael, but he portrayed Michael as a divine protector, a role often associated with Christ in Scripture. Origen of Alexandria (185-253 AD): Origen expanded on the hierarchy of angels and referred to Jesus as the “Great Angel of God.” While he didn’t directly say Jesus is Michael, he supported the view that Jesus has a unique heavenly role similar to Michael’s. Though these early writings don’t directly name Jesus as Michael, the idea that Jesus held a special angelic role or leadership position in heaven was present in early Christian thought.

I think there is a play on words here who is "like" or who is "as" God. Michael means who is "like" God but not God Himself. The question should be is Jesus a created being or not? That is, was Jesus created as Michael the Arch Angel? If you dig into SDA doctrine you will find that SDA's taught that Jesus was in fact a created being.

Is there any Scriptural Basis for Concluding that Michael refers to Christ? The name "Michael" means Who is like God? The activities of Michael could not be performed by a created being, but only by the power of divinity. Whose Voice Raises the Dead? "The Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: (1 Thessalonians 4:16). It is the voice of the Archangel that will awaken the dead. "Whose voice is it?" "The hour is coming when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: (John 5:25) "Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear His voice. (John 5:28) Paul says that it is the voice of the Archangel that will awaken the dead. John says that it is the voice of the Son of God. No creature has the power over death. Only Jesus has that power. "And if Christ be not raised your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. (1 Corinthians 15:17, 18) "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. (1 Corinthians 15:22) It was no mere angel that cast Satan out of heaven! He was cast out by the "power of his Christ." "And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. @@tiffanywright6653 you ask to many questions to have a proper debate. But I agree with a lot of what you say but you missed the most important scriptures out. I don't know what bible you use but I hope it's not the NWT demonic bible because that goes against the deity of Christ. Jesus as a man was created from holy spirit and Mary as you know and that's where he had his beginning as a man and the scriptures teach us that God was manifest in the flesh 1Timothy 3-16. Not an Angel but God and Hebrews 1-5 and 1-13 proves that Jesus is not a Angel. Isaiah 44-24 says God was alone when he created the heavens and the earth so where is the son? Now Colossians 1-16 says Jesus created the heavens and the earth so that proves before Jesus became a man he was the almighty God but do the scriptures teach us that. Isaiah 9-6 Jesus is called everlasting father. Revelation 1-8 Jesus is called ALMIGHTY GOD. Revelation 22-12-13 Jesus is called the alpha and omega the first and the last and the beginning and the end so how can he be a created Angel.? John 1-3 Jesus made everything. John 20-28 Thomas calls Jesus God. Titus 2-13 Jesus is called God. John 14-5-9 Jesus is calling himself the father. John 2-18-22 Jesus will raise himself from the dead. What you need to understand is that God is omnipresent and can be in different places at the same time that's why Jesus said if two people or more talk about me then I myself will be there so we know that God can be in different places at the same time. That's why Jesus could talk and pray and be tempted of evil because God became a man just like you and I and God emptied himself and became like us Philippians 2-5-8. Also Matthew 1-23 God is with us. And Jesus never mentioned his father's name ever if he did then show me just one scripture. No he did not receive worship. Eg Heb 1:6b, KJV says "Let all the angels of God worship him" Matt 14:33 "Then those that came worshipped him KJV". However the Greek word "proskyneo" also means "to bow before" or "do obeisance" and this is what the Bible writers had in mind as respects Jesus. Kings and High priests in Israel also received such obeisance too. As a mark of respect. Doug knows this but due to being bound to SDA s trinity belief preferred worship.

@@ralphgoreham3516 Let me start off by saying, I'm not bound to any denomination or set or beliefs. I simple follow the Bible and the instructions God has given. I am bound by nothing but seeking only truth. First of all, I would have to disagree with you on that. Matthew 14:33 NKJV Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.” I'm not disagreeing with you on the meaning but if you look at the actual context, they are worshiping him in respect to being God. I believe there is more there, than the simple respect they gave to Kings and Israel. But that isn't as relevant because that is Greek testament, when really we should be looking at the Hebrew Testament. Which leads me into my next point. I did more research and in Joshua 5:13-15, God comes in the form of a Man calling himself the "Commander (or captain) of the arm of the LORD". The same title Michael is called to have. Joshua proceeds to worship (Word for worship here is shachah, literally meaning to bow down, usually in the face of God) Him. I believe we can also infer this is Christ because the Man then proceeds to tell Joshua to remove his sandals for this is holy ground. The same as God did when speaking to Moses a the burning bush. No angel has ever asked this, because angels also don't receive worship to begin with.

@@HighWindDragoon1 Hi there!, I look at the context and do not see worship of God, there are probably 100 verses elsewhere that mean he can not be God. For many of them are up under Matty Deys Post on this site.. Take a look. He has 26 replies and it would be well worth you having a look at them all. The bible can not contradict itself. The same word is is used in the Greek Septuagint for Kings and high Priests. Proskyneo is used at Mat. 18:26 where a slave bowed down before a King. RSV says he "fell on his knees". The man at Joshua was an angel as was the case with Moses Abraham, Gideon , Manoah. Acts 7:53 tells us the Law was delivered by angels. In each case one verse says it was an angel of the Lord, in in the next verse or 2 it says it was God. This is because they spoke Gods message and it was if God was present.Angels of God materialised as humans to be visible but disappeared into thin air. :No man has seen God at any time" John 1:18, 1 John 4:12. Commonsense says an angel cannot be God, and God can not be a man. Joshua is not said to be worshipped , but as per Moses at the the thornbush they were to take off their shoes for it was "holy Ground".

@@ralphgoreham3516 Hey Ralph! I'm not sure what or where you are referring to about these Matty Dey posts? On which site? Where? Also - let me say again, I'm not disagreeing with you on the meaning of Proskyneo. What i'm disagreeing with you about is context. I think both can be true as the same time because you're able to worship for different reasons. It's the same reason why they would refer to kings as "My lord" but also refer to God as "My Lord" - although they use the same word, we know they aren't putting kingly men and God on the same level. To your next point, I think once again you need to look at biblical context. When John 1:18 says "No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him." John is referring to God the Father, because obviously God the Son is with them. This is clarified again in John 6:46 "Not that anyone has seen the Father, except He who is from God; He has seen the Father.". For this to mean God as a whole, then you'd have to say that Jesus Christ was not God, and if not when he was a Man then how about when he was raised from the dead and became divine once again? are you telling me God wasn't in the garden with Adam and Eve? What about when Jacob wrestles with God and and say in Genesis 32:30 NKJV “For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”. Of course people have seen God, but the God they have seen is God the Son. NOT God the father. I think what's important to understand is the fluidity of the word angel, which means simply "messenger". Jacob later on in life after his experience with God to also name him as an angel Gensis 48:15,16. Then We see Paul call himself AND Christ as angel Galatians 4:14 NKJV "And my trial which was in my flesh you did not despise or reject, but you received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus. " I'm not saying God the Son is a literal angel or literal man. However, I do believe God (Christ) can take on the FORMS of these beings as to present himself to us. I 100% agree with you that the bible cannot contradict itself, but that's why I believe because of the complexity of the bible we need to take things in context, both in the passage and the bible as a whole. Otherwise we start to get narrow sighted and don't see the overarching message presented. Lastly - I don't really understand your last comment about Joshua and Moses. I hope this message finds you well Ralph, I pray God opens up both of our eyes to truth and understanding.

Yes one can worship sportstars or film stars but in the Bible the word is reserved for God. John 1:18. It doesnt say "God the Father," it only says God You are adding to what is not there .Jacob also had a dream in which he saw angeks going up and down a ladder. Such to reassure him he would be guarded/directed to be successful... Again the Bible says Jacob wrestled with an ANGEL all night, and knew it was not actually God. He was then named Israel which means "contender with God". It is the same as the others earlier mentioned. Garden of Eden. Jesus , given the power and know how put Adam together and though it does not name Jesus that conversed with him in the garden, before the fall, it is highly likely. The creator of this vast unknowable universe could not actually come anywhere near us or all life would disintegrate. He told Moses that at Exodus 33:20, "You are not able to see my face and yet live" and that was also an angel speaking. Acts 7:53. Gal 4:14. Paul was praising the Galatians for their hospitality, treating him as if he were an angel, LIKE CHRIST JESUS. Paul therefore knew Jesus to be an angel. Wherever in the Bible, all angels are messengers. (aggelos). there is no fluidity. Be sure to read the 70 verses. I am well aware it is a case of "Line upon line" and verse upon verse to get the accurate knowledge of truth, have been doing it for 46 years. In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him not even one thing was made that has come into being. In Him was life [and the power to bestow life], and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines on in the darkness, and the darkness did not understand it or overpower it or appropriate it or absorb it [and is unreceptive to it]. John 1:1‭, ‬3‭-‬5 AMP According to the above inspired scripture before Christ was incarnated as a Human (Jesus) he was the "Word" of God who was co-equal with God the Father & God the Holy Spirit in EVERY WAY! He is the second person of the Holy Trinity (the word used to describe the doctrine throughout the Holy Scriptures). ALL the persons in the Trinity shares in ALL the attributes- omniscience, omnipresence, omnipotence & are eternal. ALL of them in nature are eternal- no beginning, not formed by accident, not born by any means (natural/unnatural), not created by anyone/anything!!! All of them are perfect, immortal, indestructible! All of them cannot cease to exist!!! So we see here that Christ CANNOT be an Archangel Michael (who is a angel of war & when God want to execute His judgement). Archangel Michael & Archangel Gabriel & former Archangel Lucifer too are created beings who are created by Christ himself! They are but servants of Christ!!! Moreover, the resurrection of Moses is assumed! No clear evidence & purpose for it too! Also, just for agruement sake even if Archangel Michael was Christ then why would he share the redemption plan of God (that He would pay the price by His death on the cross!?). If the devil was told the redemption plan then he would not have assisted in it (Then Satan entered Judas, the one called Iscariot, who was one of the twelve [disciples]. Luke 22:3 AMP). Moreover, the name Michael (Hebrew "Mikha’el") The breakup of the Hebrew name is (1) "Mikha" meaning “who is like" & (2) "El" which means "God”. We must understand that this name is NOT a statement but a... rhetorical question posed to reiterate that there is absolutely NO thing/being in ALL creation that is like God!!!

Raphael is not just a tradition. From Biblehub: RAPHAEL ra'-a-el, ra'-fa-el (repha'el, from rapha' 'el, "God has healed"; Rhaphael): The name of the angel who, as Azarias, guides Tobias to ECBATANA and RAGES (which see). The purpose of his mission is, in accordance with his name, to cure Tobit of blindness, and to deliver Sarah, the daughter of Raguel, from the power of the evil spirit Asmodaeus (Tobit 3:8; 12:14). Later, in addition, when he reveals himself (Tobit 12:15), he declares that he is "one of the seven holy angels, which present the prayers of the saints, and go in before the glory of the Holy One."

What it actually says: (Jude 9 - Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.). So in reality Micheal tells the devil "the Lord rebuke thee" Cause only God can rebuke the devil not Michael. So if Michael is Jesus and Jesus is God, why didn't Michael just rebuke him himself? When you read the Bible seeing it from the point of view of the actual writers, it will be easier to wrap your head around some of the issues. Sounds to me that In the old testament prior to the birth of Jesus they would call him Michael, the world "Angel" simply means messenger, it's a title.

You mix the Angel of the Lord who is Jesus preincarnate and Michael the archangel. Jesus is eternal and Michael was created. In today's world we can say that Jesus is a president and Michael is a general. When it say that Jesus will come with the voice of an archangel and the sound of a trumpet it doesn't mean that that's His voice. I can come with the sound of breaks but that doesn't mean these breaks are a part of me. Maybe Jesus will come after the sound of a trumpet and when Michael (or some other archangel) is instructed to proclaim His return. Regarding the Revelation, it's logical that Michael and the Dragon fight. God in His ontology can't be commpared to anyone, but Michael and Satan are opposites, reverses of one another (like the Flash and the Reverse Flash). Yes Michael means who is like God, but there are many names that have high status. I don't know meaning's of Hebrew names by heart, but we can make cases for a lot of it. For example, my name (Eugen) in Greek means the noble one or someone who has noble origin. Does that mean something? Of course not! I just don't see any evidence that Jesus is Michael the archangel. I believe that Jesus is the Angel of the Lord, but that's not the same. May God give us mercy and wisdom!

When Lazarus was raised from the dead, the voice of Jesus was the very first thing he heard when he was brought back to life. Likewise, 1 Thessalonians 4:16 clearly says the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout. And yet, the voice that the dead in Christ hear when Jesus shouts is the voice of the archangel. This verse clearly shows that Jesus and Michael the archangel are one in the same. Again... When the dead in Christ are resurrected, they all hear the voice of the archangel when Jesus shouts. Michael the archangel is simply another name for Jesus just as all of these are... Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. These are all names or (titles) that refer to Jesus.

Not being critical, please understand also my meek understanding from my upbringing. How is Jesus God and an Angel? Angels cannot be God. Jesus did not say “I am like (or “closely/similar”) unto God.” He said “If you have seen me, then you have seen the Father.” “Before Abraham was, I AM.” Also. Raphael is mentioned in the book of Tobit. Why do the KJV and NKJV eliminate so many books filled with knowledge?
@warpnin3
@warpnin3 2 жыл бұрын
The apochryphal books are excluded by the KJV for a few reasons: Certain parts are found only in Greek, and not in Hebrew and Aramaic, which looks like a sign of recent addition ( later than 400BC) There is no evidence that they derived from biblical prophets. Not one of the New Testament writers quote from these books, which is significant, since there are about 2200 quotations from the Old Testament in the New, none of which, as said before, are from the apocryphal books. None of the lists of the Hebrew canon include any of the apocryphal books. The New Testaments only recognizes the Old Testament, for it specifically mentions that when Jesus explained scripture on the road to Emaus, He quoted from the Law, the Prophets and the Psalms, referring to the traditional Jewish division of scripture. Nothing from the apocrypha

Jesus is worshipped by the angels (Heb. 1:6) and by man (Matt. 14:33), and yet only God is to be worshipped (Ex. 34:14). Christ Himself said that worship is due to God alone (Matt. 4:10), and yet He accepted worship. If Jesus in His pre-existent state were the archangel Michael, how could He have received worship, since angels are not allowed to receive worship (Rev. 19:10)? If Christ were not God, then worshipping Him would be idolatrous.

Jesus is not Michael the archangel. The Bible nowhere identifies Jesus as Michael (or any other angel, for that matter). Hebrews 1:5-8 draws a clear distinction between Jesus and the angels: “For to which of the angels did God ever say, ‘You are my Son; today I have become your Father’? Or again, ‘I will be His Father, and He will be my Son’? And again, when God brings His firstborn into the world, He says, ‘Let all God’s angels worship Him.’ In speaking of the angels He says, ‘He makes his angels winds, his servants flames of fire.’ But about the Son He says, ‘Your throne, O God, will last forever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.’” The hierarchy of heavenly beings is made clear in this passage-angels worship Jesus who, as God, is alone worthy of worship. No angel is ever worshiped in Scripture; therefore, Jesus (worthy of worship) cannot be Michael or any other angel (not worthy of worship). The angels are called sons of God (Genesis 6:2-4; Job 1:6; 2:1; 38:7), but Jesus is THE Son of God (Hebrews 1:8; Matthew 4:3-6). Michael the archangel is perhaps the highest of all the angels. Michael is the only angel in the Bible who is designated “the archangel” (Jude verse 9). Michael the archangel, though, is only an angel. He is not God. The clear distinction in the power and authority of Michael and Jesus can be seen in comparing Matthew 4:10 where Jesus rebukes Satan, and Jude verse 9, where Michael the archangel “dared not bring a judgment of blasphemy” against Satan and calls on the Lord to rebuke him. Jesus is God incarnate (John 1:1, 14). Michael the archangel is a powerful angel, but still only an angel.

There is a possibility Jesus, the archangel was one of three "men" who ate with Abraham, the one remaining after the other 2 went of to Sodom. Angels in Hebrew Scripture times materialized human bodies. E.G. before the flood and the 3rd one MAY have been Jesus, in a long conversation with Abraham, but one cannot be certain. You recall Jesus did so eating fish with some of his disciples after his resurrection. Roger it was not his human body for that was given as a ransom, nobody recognised him physically and he could walk through closed doors. Like Moses' body God disposed of Jesus dead body.
