This was far and away the best episode of the entire series- not just for the most laughs, but how it gave two different and wrong perspectives (the bigot and bleeding heart bigot) about not just the repairman and his assistant, but how Archie and The Meathead view each other. Lionel's Engagement Party was the second best episode. I don't think any others even come close to these two.

Wow. Someone called out Mike's bigotry. If you really pay attention, Mike's the more bigoted of the two. Archie's an unfortunate victim of picking up his father's bigotry. But deep down, he tries his best. This is coming from someone who's neither liberal nor conservative.

It's that insidious kind of bigotry that assume people of color are like stupid children that always need standards lowered for them so they can make it through life. Archie's bigotry is learned behavior and he changes with the story arc. Mike's bigotry attitude, especially his sexism, never changes. He's too self righteous for personal growth.

Ron Glass is really funny as the apprentice who talks jive and then as the guy who says "Black is beautiful, baby." and Archie, Edith, Gloria and Mike are hilarious especially when each of them are angry and Archie coming through the door acting like the Tasmanian Devil.

I remember when they tried to do an episode like this on M*A*S*H, only they cocked it up. See, for a story like this, you need three points of view: A, B, and C. A and B tell twisted versions to make the teller look innocent and the others bad, and then C is the neutral party who tells what really happened. Too bad M*A*S*H's writers wasn't aware of that formula.
