I think Roger is the strongest since when ace was in Buggy's boat ...buggy literallly told his crewmates that " there was only one man who could go neck to neck tthe pirate king roger". Oda is literally using Roger as a level to compare other characters. and second Roger is among the only few of the characters who is nver shown to lose or get hurt. WB became a bitch to Roger in god valley....Garp needed sengoku to beat shiki and still got hurt......Joyboy lost to the World government......Rocks lost to Roger. Roger is always shown to be the superior fighter.

The people in the One Piece world clearly think it's Roger. When wanting to use an example of the very strongest, characters like Kaido, Chinjao and Mont d'Or use Roger. Characters like Jinbei and Franky also reference the Pirate King as being someone superior to the Yonko even in terms of power.

I see Rocks being stronger than Whitebeard. He used to have Whitebeard and Shiki in his crew. Someone like Rocks would need immense power and strength to command obedience meaning that he was likely far stronger than WB back then. We don’t know how much stronger Prime WB was compared to Rocks pirates WB so there is a possibility that Prime WB is stronger. However I’m still leaning towards Rocks.

It's between Imu,Joyboy,and Rocks Rocks for scaling reasons and Imu and Joyboy for narrative reasons Also if i were to rank all the people you mentioned and a couple of my own picks it would be 1:Imu 2:Joyboy 3:Rocks 4:Dragon(He's probably in his 40-50's so he's also most likely in his prime) 5:Akainu(He's 50 so he's 100% in his prime) 6:Whitebeard 7:Roger 8:Garp 9:Sengoku 10:Shiki 11:Kong 12:Ryuma

All of you are forgetting the 1st and most important fact. Everybody during the series, pre-era of Roger and after wanted to kill Whitebeard, not Roger. Even Shanks and Buggy trie to attack Whitebeard and kill him. Do you know why? Because he was always called the Strongest Man/Strongest Pirate. Defeating the strongest gives you the most fame. Now watch during Marine Ford, everyone was trying to get Whitebeard's head, we learned crocodile wanted to get Whitebeard, we learned Ace was aiming for the top and tried to kill Whitebeard, heck, even Kaido wanted a piece of Whitebeard. You have big mom Ranking Whitebeard above Kaido, Shanks, and Herself. The era had to change with Whitebeard's death. Guess why? Because he was always the strongest. Do not be a fanboy of Roger or Kaido or Shanks and become biased or deluded to the fact that Whitebeard was always the strongest.

Spoiler for film red I have a theory regarding black blades in film red we see that Shanks has a flaming sword and we also see that Zoro has green flames on his blade, what if it is related to haki and red fire comes after green fire and the final form is black flames which might be one of the factors in making a black blade, it will make sense as the fox guy said Ryuma “forged” his black blade.

Roger is the legit top 1 of the series. Shanks and Luffys are somewhat the next gen rogers(shanks to a lesser extent as he won’t ever rival roger in strength or greatness). Roger is the golden standard people like wb are compared to. Kaido is the strongest alive. And wb is stronger than him and roger> wb.

Personally I would have Dragon, Shanks or Mihawk at number 1 because Kaido's top 5 places Shanks front and center despite Kaido logically knowing less about Shanks than anyone else on that list. From what we know Shanks and Kaido met for a very brief time prior to marineford, yet Kaido still holds him in such high regard. Based on the Cross Guild poster we can infer that the person in the middle of an image is considered by the maker of that image to be the most important, thus Kaido's mind eye placing Shanks in the center would mean that Kaido thinks Shanks is stronger than WB or Rocks. There is actually a scan which calls Kaido the "strongest creature in history", which would make Luffy top 1 and Kaido top 2, but I don't think that notes or databooks are definitive.

the official translation is people say that kaido is the king of the beasts and people can be some guy in a bar. Dragon has nothing to show that his strong. Kaido hasn't seen the cross guild poster and it was made by buggys mean not anyone who actually knows anything and thats just pure head cannon why cant kaidos top 5 be from top left to bottom. Also kaidos top 5 is people who can hurt him not the strongest because whitebeard and oden are in the same 5 and zoro is stronger than oden so it really doesn't make much sense and it also doesn't account for people kaido hasn't met like mihawk who is stronger than shank. luffy is also weaker than full health kaido because kaido fought big mom for 3 days then a day later fought like 15 people before having like his second one v one with luffy in the same day and some of the people he fought were 4 other strongest people not including luffy and big mom who all did damage to him. Also kaido at full health wouldn't just stand there and take attacks from the worst generation and Yamato just to see how strong they were even tho it was shown he could easily have done that for the most part. Whitebeard, rock, roger and garp are just stronger than mihawk and shanks

Don't know about all time, because there isn't really any feats OR actual concrete statements about the strength of past goats compared to the current top players, but currently I think Kaido is the strongest. The silhouettes were not 'who can beat Kaido', they were 'who can fight with me', probably referring to people that can use conquerors coating and therefore actually hurt him. Don't know why one piece fans are so scared of accepting titles that are given to characters for a reason. Strongest creature on land air and see, ok, he's the strongest. Where's the controversy? Because Luffy finished him? Put any other character in Kaido's shoes during the Raid, and he gets folded too. For me it's simple. Whiteboard was the strongest human, Mihawk is the strongest swordsman (yes stronger than Shanks), and Kaido was the strongest out of everyone. People also running away with Kaido's statement, acting like haki>fruit 100% of the time, when we've seen it's not true. Law was wrecking big mom with just his fruit, and Whiteboard was feared mainly for his quake fruit. Blackbeard is a top player just because he has strong fruits. Not that powers are ever fully consistent in any stiry anyway, but just my 2 cents

Is smarter than kaido whitebeard ran a war. there both light speed characters. Whitebeard is stronger excluding devil fruit and haki dying cripple whitebeard was blocking and besting giants with one arm so he wins there. They both fought someone for 3 days but kaido was fighting bigmom and whitebeard was fighting roger while holding back so either equal stamina or goes to whitebeard Kaido has better durability but whitebeard can negate that with devil fruit and haki. So i dont really see how kaido beats primebeard

W/L alone isn’t enough bc someone like Shanks hasn’t lost (yet lol) while Rocks has. Mihawk strongest opponent we know of is Shanks and the rest are fodder so it’s not saying much that he hasn’t lost before compared to other top tiers.
