@dr.peppermintpatty4925 Sometimes, people can't give up their job to take care of a parent. Most people l8ve month to month. Unless you pretty much own your home it's not possible. Especially when you have younger children at home. Or if the parent is obese and has many other health issues. Unless you can afford the lifting equipment, it's not possible. How do you pick them up to toilet or shower them properly. Without hurting them or yourself? There are some really good facilities around these days. There are in my country anyway.
@dr.peppermintpatty49257 ай бұрын

The look of bewilderment on his face breaks my heart sometimes. It must be so hard for him to be in that state of uncertainty and worry, but then when you reassure him the expression on his face changes completely, he relaxes a bit...but then it starts all over again. He's just beyond awesome, because he's always worried about his family, not thinking about himself. All those socks! And if you need some he'll let you have them! ❤ He makes my day, every time I see him.

I was a nurse for many years and worked in Alzheimer’s facilities. Most of residents wanted to do some type of work during the day and even when they woke up during the night. I often made coffee, tea and snacks at night and some of the residents would sit around snacking and talking . One evening everyone was talking about California and when they visited or lived there it was a beautiful moment everyone around the table laughing and enjoying themselves. It was my favorite place to work of all my nursing experiences. I had so much joy knowing every resident! I always prayed for them and I truly loved them all. ❤

Thank you so much. I wanted to share with you my dad, who has Dementia also he is 92 and lives with me. . I showed him Ed's videos, and I was not sure how he would process them. I gave it a try he really loved them we sat and watched about 2 hours of videos. He wanted more and more he loved it. The unfortunate thing I asked him a bit later he did not remember. My dad too needs to know where his wallet is and we have to have some money in it. My dad wants us with him all times. My husband sleeps on the couch now, after my mom passed away this passed October, she was able to talk him out of going to the kitchen late nights. He has a tendency to get up and make coffee and use the stove and microwave, so we have to stay on the alert. I get up early for work, so my husband and daughter have to watch over him then . I truly understand that it'sa lott to deal with for sure. I am really glad I had them sell their house big move sense they lived in and move in with me 2 years ago we have made so many memories .It was a big move though ,they lived in another state. Thank you for sharing ,it helps me allot !!! I will show more videos to my dad, hoping he enjoys them as much as he did.❤
