Sacred and significant to Jews and Palestinians alike, the Temple Mount has a long and tumultuous history, serving today as a focal point and symbol of the entire Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
For the Jewish People, the Temple Mount is known to be its holiest site. It is the site of the Foundation Stone, the center of the universe and where Abraham almost sacrificed his son Isaac, as well as the place where King Solomon built the holy First Temple. For Palestinians and other Muslims, the Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound is considered the third holiest site in Islam, the place to where Muhammad travelled from Mecca and ascended to heaven in a single night.
Since the formation of Zionism and the founding of the State of Israel, the Temple Mount has once again become a site of tension between competing peoples and religions, sparking conflict over antiquities claims, Jewish prayer, and security presence. At the center of the violence is the fear that recognizing the claim of the Other's connection to the site will mean that the Other rightfully owns the Temple Mount to the exclusion of all other peoples and faiths.
From its origins as a symbol of legitimacy for various empires and groups to its current role as a flashpoint in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Temple Mount continues to represent the complexities and tensions of the region.

As an Iranian and a Christian, I really enjoyed this video 🙏🏽 it was surprisingly well done. Just wanted to add something: Judaism wasn’t the only monotheistic religion at the time of the First and Second Temples, as Zoroastrians had long been practicing in Greater Iran. Jews were actually influenced by interacting with these Zoroastrians. At the time of the Temple(s), however, Judaism _was_ the sole Abrahamic faith. Baruch Hashem!

It was a holy Jewish site before Islam even existed. It then became a Byzantine Christian Church (proven beyond any doubt by the architecture alone), then only hundreds of years later did Islam come into existance and then even long after that they decided it was important to them. Its mine, no, its mine! Well, regardless, it was a Jewish Site first. The biulding that stands now was a Byzantine church 2nd. It was changed to a Mosque 3rd. We should all share access, and Israel is the only nation in the region where Islam, Judaism, and Christianity among others can be freely and openly practiced. Make sense Israel should control and absolutely allow everyone access, not Jordan whom will not ley jews pray there if they get their way. Nobody should be allowed to harm this structure so important to many faiths. Its become a political football and not about peace, yet all faiths I know of want peace - just one faith wants to exclude others from praying there.

Israelis are also not allowed into those countries, so it's not so much about "preventing Muslims from accessing it" but more about not letting citizens of enemy states from entering Israeli borders. All of the citizens of Arab countries which have diplomatic relations with Israel can enter al aqsa and pray, something which can't be said for jews, who are not allowed to pray, and can only enter for a few minutes at a time, and every time a minister goes there there's an uproar about "breaking the status quo" even though the status quo clearly states that jews are allowed to enter the temple mount (without praying)

The word "share" is as alien to Muslims and above all to Arabs, as the words "tolerance" and "respect." This is why this dispute will NEVER be settled. To Muslims, all non-Muslims are infidels meaning enemies of God despite their occasional two-faced, self-serving statements about. acknowledging Christians and Jews as followers of God. Judge them by their actions. Do Christians burn down Mosques? Do Jews violently attack Muslims on the latter's holiest day? Ask any Christian dwelling in most Arab states what his Arab Muslim neighbors really, for the most part, think of his/her faith. One thing to add is that Jerusalem is not actually mentioned in the Koran at all. Muhammad's night journey talks about the furthest mosque and at the time there was no mosque on the Temple Mount. I think there may have been a church on the sight, but that was it. According to some Muslim tradition, the furthest mosque wasn't considered Jerusalem. I think we should take into account that the reason why Arabs fought against the establishment of Israel was largely because of the fact that the Israeli state was founded by colonial powers. Many European Jews asked the British instead of Palestine to establish Israel and thus the conflict. There also seems to be a gap in some history here, regarding how Palestine treated the holy stone prior to the colonization of their country (which evidence suggests that they left it alone as a holy site).

You say it's still under the Islamic Waqf of Jordan and that they are conducting certain activities that might be questionable. On the other hand, I've heard speeches suggesting that Jews are involved in dismantling the Al-Aqsa Mosque to rebuild Solomon's Temple. I'm looking for clarification on this matter. While the Jews have been yearning for the restoration of the Holy Temple after its second destruction by the hands of the Romans almost 2,000 years ago, there is no intention within the Israeli government (and many of Jews worldwide and Israelis) to destroy Al-Aqsa and rebuild the temple.
