The only winner was Chicago who sold extremely high on him.

I’m confident debrincat will be better next year. I felt they forced Kane and the cat to be together because they worked in Chicago. Debrincat was on fire at the beginning of the year with Larkin and Raymond then split them up. Debrincat for whatever reason was out to pp2. Once Larkin Raymond and debrincat reunited down the stretch he got 3 assists in the Pittsburg game, 2 goals vs the leafs, and scored in the first Montreal game. We have let him be the number 1 sniper we all want. If Kane goes it might be for the best. Not that Kane and the cat were bad but maybe we’re a little over hyped.

Plus it felt like he hit the post once every game for whatever reason. I think his puck luck will at least be a tiny bit better next year and we see him get over 30 goals. LGRW!

Dude, I totally agree with you! Why would you change something that’s working. Kane makes everyone around him better. I think a strong Center is more important than Kane and Cat together.

You're right. It didn't help that most the time Debrincat and Kane had a third/fourth line center between them. I actually had someone argue with me when I pointed out Austin Czarnik was on their line for MULTIPLE games. Like let's be real you can't have an average height and weight of 5'9 175lbs across a line and expect ANYTHING. Fire Lalonde

Before signing with Detroit, Patrick Kane said that he would like to be teammates with DeBrincat again. Now as a pending UFA, Kane has said that he doesn't like how much he has been changing teams lately, and would like some continuity. Perhaps a hint that he could sign with Detroit again? To any degree that having DeBrincat drove Kane's decision to sign with Detroit, that adds everything that Kane has done and could still do as a Red Wing to Detroit's ledger in terms of "winning" this trade.

Technical note: the final draft position of that Boston pick which Ottawa will get is still TBD. If Boston advances to the conference finals, then that pick will drop to the final four, though exactly where within the final four it ends up will depend on how Boston does from there. Alternatively, if Boston loses to the Florida Panthers, then for each team with a worse regular-season record than Boston which advances to the conference finals, the draft pick will move up one position. If I were an Ottawa fan, this sort of thing would drive my rooting interest in the ongoing playoffs.

It’s pretty straight forward. Sens lost the deal because they gave up the 7th overall pick in 22 for him. Sens were handcuffed when dealing to the Wings and didn’t get quality assets in return.

Maybe the Senators have learned their lesson about asking if a player actually wants to play for them before trading for him.

Wings won. Kubiliak was not good for Ottawa. DeBrincat will bounce back from an inconsistent season.

Does dabrincat really need a bounce back season. He did fine. Maybe not a 80 point season. But fine. As for the trade. As of today. Redwings won the trade. Kubalik having 15 points is pretty bad. And maybe their first round pick plays out. But it’s hard to say. Even if that pick turns out to be a star. That doesn’t mean Detroit would have picked the same person with that pick.

Im glad he didn't take Dorion's offer to re-sign in Ottawa.. that wouldve been a nightmare.. Sens should have never traded for him to begin with, it was a short sighted waste of assets.. hopefully Staios is smarter with his trades... unless Debrincat can get back to being a 35+ goal scorer the only winner out of any of the Cat trades will really be Chicago for selling him at his highest possible value

DeBrincat was a letdown that is for sure. His goal scoring was pretty similar to Kubalik’s last season in the D (scored a lot of goals at beginning of season, then completely disappeared) DeBrincat is a much better overall player though as the comparison ends there. It really all comes down to how Ottawa’s pick turns out.

Sens didn't win the trade, but DeBrincat only had one more assist this year. Obviously it's a small sample size but if you're Detroit you're hoping he can perform a lot better, because right now I'm looking at him and saying this is the real DeBrincat after he had similar seasons two years on two different teams

Hes a playmaker and im happy for him. Datsyuk wasnt a " pure goal scorer" but just a huge playmaker and good defender. Thats what i see him turning into but with less stick skills and little less defensive back checking.
