Great episode. I am still hoping for an episode where the market induced GNU is unpacked. With special focus on what it means to be a then ANC government with cash scraped fiscus. The ANC would do well if they could elect some of the younger candidates to the presidency (Lamola, Ramokgopa or Lesufi), it would support the ongoing "transformation" agenda nicely,but I suspect it is highly unlikely based on their age ,ranking within the party and general ANC history. I suspect some veteran male leaders would re-emerge for the presidency race, but my bet is Mashatile is going to ascend to the "throne" The DP race is equally if not more interesting, where 1 of the 3 younger candidates could win. Not forgetting the power of the ANCWL,they are likely to nominate a candidate like Gwen Ramokgopa as DP given her new found prominence and relative success as the TG. Again I think the race is won or lost in Gauteng😅

I didn’t hear you discuss avoiding a further decline in ANC support or even an increase in ANC votes. Surely that should be a major factor in the decision of ANC members on their next leader. You articulate great ideas for the ANC. What about an alternative to the DA. As seen with other "mergers", the smaller looses its identity in a merger. Why can the BOSA, ASA, Rise Mzanzi and other newer right configurations not merge. To pose a credible alternative to the DA, and even so offer a route out of racism politics. Where the DA could merge in the future with that agglomerate, where they could be more equals. I would like to see Lindiwe Mazibuko come back as a presidential candidate, or DA chair person, or the alternative configurations.
