Fikile Mbalula's tendency to run his mouth before his brain processes and contextualizes moments and sentiments is coming home to roost. But more broadly, this is the ultimate roost for the ANC as a whole. Prof. Patrick Bond's book titled "Talk Left, Walk right" is now playing out in full force and I'm so glad it's happening.

@@iMonsieurAnthonyas an outsider looking in, how would you rate SA's democracy compared to western countries?
@iMonsieurAnthony
@iMonsieurAnthony 8 күн бұрын
@@user-gz7cb5ew4pit is difficult to compare to the West because you can’t really easily compare West to the West. For example, New Zealand democracy and parliamentary process is much different to America, so trying to compare South Africa is even more harder for me. That being said, South Africa without a doubt stands unique and apart her neighbours in Africa and countries in Asia and even Eastern Europe. You have more participation in elections, you have more political options, you have a vibrant and if we go by recent election results effective opposition, you utilise your democratic tools especially Parliament much better than many countries that have been democracies for longer or are in neighbourhoods where democracy is the norm (for example you are much more proper in parliamentary democracy than every Eastern European country I have looked at), your democracy is also more interactive than say South Korea or Japan where I feel people just expect the Govt to do it all without much input from the voters, and people there don't really keep tabs on their government, so overall I think, despite the challenges, you should be very proud.

Don't forget, capitalists are paying your salary while the communists are stealing it. Capitalists also invented KZbin and the phone or pc you using to view and comment, as you cannot have innovation in a communist country. Just look at North Korea and Russia, and how the people are suffering there. Capitalism is entrepreneurship and job creation. you can only alleviate poverty with capitalist strategies, but you want communism because you are too lazy to study, learn and work, as you want everything for free. No intelligent and wise person is against capitalism. Only the uneducated and unread support communists. You need to pick up a book sometime.

I’m no fan of the ANC but it’s incorrect to say that they reason for not going into coalition with the MK was because they “are the party of state capture”. The ANC’s chief negotiator Mdumiseni Ntuli, ANC acting spokesperson Zuko Godlimpi and SG Fikile Mbalula have all said on numerous interviews during and after the GNU negotiations that the MK’s central and uncompromising demand is that they will only go into coalition if Cyril Ramaphosa steps down as president of the ANC and country. I think it a fair to say that no serious organisation could negotiate any workable agreement with such bad faith demands. If we are going to be clear in our critique of the GNU we must also be clear about the viability of alternative arrangements. There is as much responsibility for not being able to present workable conditions for coalition from the non-GNU parties. They deserve as much scrutiny for not making a workable arrangement that could’ve crowded out the DA and other right wing forces.

Hi Sizwe. I am of the opinion that you were extremely accommodating of Mapaila in your interview. At worst you took sides. Why on earth did you not ask him/dare the Party to walk out of the alliance? He mentioned a couple of times that either they were not consulted or when they made representations they were ignored. The obvious line (apparently not obvious to you) will be why not disengage? Party members are part of government courtesy of the ANC. The President of the ANCYL is making these pronouncements. SACP, please contest the election on your own. Test your electoral support, then you can talk. He also mentioned a few times that "this arrangement gives him sleepless nights" Poor Solly. Why subject yourself to abuse?

I may not always agree with your approach on interviews, but you are correct it yields more results than anywhere else. The South African political landscape is changing dramatically and what I can see is that the ANC is dissolving, the left is getting a strong footing in the form of MKP and the right leaning elements in the ANC will gravitate towards the DA. Is this a bad thing? It depends on what side of the fence you are on. One thing for sure though, the sentimentalists will suffer a great deal. Let's take a leaf from the Great Roman empire. Coming back to our sentimentalists the SACP, they are still longing for the era when their party seemed like a viable contributer to the narrative that shaped the country back in the 80's. What we have today is a group of hangers on because they know deep down that they are nothing without the ANC. Why don't they join the "progressive forces" as they also share the same idealogy? They mustn't tell us that they won't work with "corrupt" people because the ANC is also corrupt. The world is changing Mr Mapaila, so you either change, adapt and survive or we will remember you in the same thought as the Soviet Block. Pick a side and stick with it. You talk the talk but you can't even crawl the walk. Talk will always be cheap. It's time the SACP came out and showed us what they are really made of.

Mr Mapayile's focus is about himself, his relationship with the ANC at the expense of society. Some of us are not interested in politics, our interest is on service delivery, jobs, food security, health care, safety, prosperity, education, etc. The ANC and her alliances have been in the helm of this mess. Mr Mapaila you are not as passionate as you are when it comes to societal issues, we had state hijacked by Guptas, you did not do enough, and society is suffering today because what happened then. Some of us are happy with the work done by the GNU so far. Please do not be selfish, give a chance to the GNU. Even if we can vote tomorrow, we will punish the ANC and her alliance partners more. Mr Mandela once said, "it does it matter if the cat is white or black as long as it catches the mice". We don't mind if the Ministers are black or white wherever they are from as long as they deliver service to the citizens. Black people in positions of power do not translate into delivery of services, we are suffering today because black people stole from us.

Now I know why this country of all the countries in Southern Africa won independence through negotiations and not actual war. Askaris were and have always been too much amongst us But why is this. It's not like it was unique to SA!. Many countries went through betrayal moreso Northern Ireland where the policemwn looked exactly like the locals unlike SA yet the locals held strong 😢 SA is unique because we embrace our tormentors and celebrate it. We might have views about these countries but these countries defeated oppressors in battle. We didn't. We reached a stalemate not victory. Mozambique the Portuguese were defeated not negotiated with. Namibia the same. Zimbabwe is the biggest war of independence between white and African forces IN AFRICA I've been to Beira and the au whites in Beira speak to me as a black person is so different with how they speak to me in Pretoria. Very same people but now in Mozambique different attitude Black South Africans wake up, very soon we will be the weak link. We can laugh all we want and war is coming even to AFRICA. Now that Russia has shut off the taps for oil and other resources they are desperate and mark my words Africa is their next easy source In SA they'll be greeted with roses where in Somalia they will be greeted with bullets

When not if, when Africa is attacked South Africa is and will be the weakest part of Africa for the westerns to land on African soil. Nor because we are militarily weak but our mindset I hate those people in Africa with funny shapes heads and wear socks openly. But one thing I know is they'll fight in their corner of the world 😢

I think the Alliance partners like the SACP have an over-inflated sense value about themselves when it comes to their relationship with ANC. As Mbalula mentioned, COSATU also had criticism against the 'GNU', but what did the ANC do about those criticisms? Nothing! They did what they wanted to do regardless. So when Mbalula says let's have 'political discussions', he means "don't criticise us publicly, let's talk privately, air your views then go home".

I just rewatched this episode. What are your thoughts Sizwe on the 3 stages of the GNU from now to 2029 and its relationship to SA’s membership in the BRICS alliance? Would there be potential contradictions as the ANC in its coalition with the DA increasingly evolve in support of western neoliberal policies vis-a-vis BRICS’s efforts in countering western hegemony?
