I think it would be cool if Mace Windu survives the fall. Is wounded but still powerful enough to race to the temple, retrieve a fallen Jedi’s lightsaber, slice through clones with one arm, protects a group of padawans and younglings (including Grogu) giving them enough time to flee the temple. And then Windu confronts Anakin where he is finally slain in a lightsaber duel against Lord Vader. A more fitting end for Mace Windu and we would all lose our minds seeing Sam Jackson back in the role, even just a little bit.

I’m going with Master Terra Sinube, too. There’s a reason they put him in Kenobi. Also, he got underworld connections. But I’m theorizing he’s not the only one involved in the rescue. It would be cool if Quinlan was involved, too. But I think Grogu was put in stasis throughout the years of them smuggling him through the galaxy, because Ahsoka said his memory went dark. Or maybe Grogu was caught by the Empire in the end and he was being experimented on all this time but someone eventually broke him out of the lab, and that’s how he ended up in chapter 1. Remember, the remnants of the Empire was one of the factions who put out a bounty to find him.

I think Mickey Mouse saved him. Used the She-Hulk maneuver to swoop in through the Disney+ hub and saved the little green guy before the Clones got him. Seriously, though. He’s the most lucrative thing Disney Star Wars has made. I have one and a half year old niece (*one and a half*) who saw a Grogu toy at the store, wanted it, and currently carries it around calling it her baby. Her parents watch Star Wars casually, but she doesn’t watch much. I wonder how many new fans Baby Yoda will bring to the Star Wars fandom.

R2-D2 saved Grogu. It's fairly obvious. When R2 was with Luke and found Grogu, R2 was OVER-excited to see Grogu. He knows Grogu and was happy he was still alive after he saved him from the Jedi Temple.

Interesting speculations. I really haven't thought much about Grogu, not sure why. The stasis idea seems like the best one. Grogu could have lived thirty years without physically aging much, but it's hard to believe he would still be as emotionally regressed as he seems to be at the start of this series. Luke said something about how he needs to relearn what he already knew. In all the time between Episode 3 and The Mandalorian Grogu must have occasionally used the force. He should have relearned at least a little without even trying. And Mando can't be his first friend in three decades. So yes, the idea that he was in stasis for most of that time makes sense. Maybe the Empire captured Grogu and put him in stasis for transport to their new cloning facility, but the stasis pod was stolen before it got there. Then the stasis pod bounced around the Galaxy for thirty years as a potentially valuable artifact, with various underworld types selling or trading it to each other. Eventually the mercenaries from Mando Episode 1 got the pod and somehow opened it. They discovered Grogu, and put the word out that they have a baby Jedi for sale. The Imperial remnant heard about this and sent bounty hunters to recover him, because (as you said) they don't want to draw the attention of the New Republic. Why didn't they just buy him directly? Because they didn't want any of the mercenaries to survive and tell the story of how they sold a Jedi to the Empire. It's not a perfect story, but it's simple and seems to fit the facts as we know them. From Grogu's perspective it means that little time has passed since the fall of the Jedi temple. He went to sleep and woke up surrounded by a bunch of mean men. Then Mando showed up, killed the men, and became his protector.

I think a limping mad one-armed dude with a purple lightsaber comes in and saves Grogu Mace is back. I still don't like that cloning force sensitives makes the clone force sensitive. The medi-clorians choose the host that they will speak to. Do the midi-cloriens even follow over to the cloned body? And if they do don't they have to decide if they want to make this clone a force user, or if it's enough with one like that.

Personally, I think Quinlan Vos is who I think rescued him. Maybe they were on the run for a number of years... got on "The Path", and then took their separate ways... perhaps giving Grogu to someone else to take care of until Vos figured out some alternative. Maybe Vos got into some trouble, or whatever. Separate story. Usually Nik'to and WeeQuay work for the Hutts, and maybe Grogu just happened to be part of some random shipment that was captured by some Hutt Mercs. Perhaps the Nik'to that had Grogu didn't even know he was there. The same could be said if just so happen it was some pirates like Hondo that happened across some random cargo and didn't even know Grogu was part of it. Of course, they could have known that Grogu was there... and paid to "smuggle" him somewhere else. Perhaps back to Vos (or whomever rescued him). As was mentioned, the Nik'to could have been the "good guys" that were misunderstood, just trying to make their way in the galaxy. Then Mando shows up. There is no real indication that the Nik'to even knew Grogu was there. But if they did know, I go with my smuggling theory as to why he was with them. Either to be smuggled back to the rescuer or away from the rescuer for his own safety.

I like the idea of a Suicide Squad 2 style scenario where the encampment of “bloodthirsty mercs” that Mando and IG11 murdered their way through were actually long-term nannies, and this same group comes back in S3 to rescue their charge from the murderer who kidnapped him. He *was* hired by the Imperial Remnant to nab Grogu, so it makes sense that that group was actually the good guys all along.

If not sure if anyone else has come up with this theory, but I think there is a legacy character that has been overlooked with R2-D2. He wasn’t with Anakin during Order 66 but reappears when Anakin goes to Mustafar. R2 may have enough space in his body to hide Grogu. And it seems like Grogu knew R2 when Luke made his appearance in The Mandalorian season 2.

I have said this before and I will say it again. Grogu is “The Mandalorian” for which the show is named. Actually, Star Wars titles tend to have double meaning. “The Mandalorian” obviously refers to Din Djarin. The “other” Mandalorian is Grogu.

I've pondered that a lot -- but the more I consider it, I think Grogu is a clone of Yoda. Count Dooku or Palpatine or someone got a sample of his DNA and cloned him and the Jedi learned about it and rescued him and kept him secret at the temple until they could figure out what was going on and why Yoda was cloned. While he was kept there, some Jedi began training him. Before they could find out all the details of the reasons for his creation, the whole Order 66 thing happened. The Jedi in Grogu's flashback were those charged with protecting him and they died. Now there are two possibilities at this point in my theory. 1.) The Empire gets him, Anakin and the 501st bring him to Palpatine who thinks he might be useful for cloning or something and they hand him over to the Inqusitorius. Maybe they were going to use him to lure Yoda out of hiding. He eventually is put in one of those amber status type tubes and stays in suspended animation perhaps on Nur. At the end of the Civil War, either pirates looting former Imperial sites find him, bring him out of stasis and then Moff Gideon and Dr. Pershing learn of him and send Bounty Hunters out to get him. This would explain why his memory is so murky. Pershing and Gideon want him back to continue with the cloning experiments to keep Palpatine's clone alive or something like that. The second possibility is similar: 2.) Barriss Offee is being held by the Jedi for trial (though you'd think they'd prosecute her with the same speed they did Ahsoka) and when Palpatine gives Order 66, she is not immune to being targeted (remember Maul was too) and she manages to escape the clones, stumbles upon them about to get Grogu after they'd killed the Jedi protecting him, and she rescues him and goes on the run. For a while she takes care of him, perhaps atoning for her terrible deeds by caring for Yoda's clone, but eventually she either gives him away, sells him to someone or he's abducted and spends years with pirates or gets put in Carbonite for storage for a while. Instead of Barriss, it could be Quinlan Vos perhaps, but the problem with the 'good guys' rescuing him is the matter of his 'lost years'. Ahsoka, when she communed with Grogu said something about how his memories were cloudy. He might even have had them somehow partially erased. At any rate, it would make the best sense for Grogu to be a clone of Yoda.

I think that it was Palpatine himself that took bro goo. An episode 3 Obi-Wan and Yoda we're checking the security footage in the temple and that's when you see Palpatine calling Anakin Lord Vader. Anakin and the clones did most of the dirty work. And at some point palps find Grogu. Maybe Grogu drained himself from defending himself from some clones. Palpatine sees him looking all dead but can sense that he's alive like he did with Anakin later, and scoops him up!
