4:30 people living in northern parts of the world are late bloomers. It's an odd, but true fact. In u-14, u-16 tournaments they tend to give up height to people from countries on the southern side of the world. Then there's a growth spurt at anywhere between u-18 to u-22 age depending on the person. It's a well known fact among international youth coaches(which often gets mentioned during interviews) and you can look up sizes in official international tournament player sheets to see that it's true. It's the same with every generation. I don't know if the reasons for this phenomenon were ever scientifically studied, but it's there.

Latvian is part if the germanic languages, Spanish is part of the latin languages, English is both, it’s definitely impressive but having base knowledge in both germanic and latin languages at a young age probably helped him learn english faster and speak it so fluidly

Compared to Spanish, Latvian is a quite complex language. Also, Spanish speakers are pretty forgiving with foreigners messing up when speaking in their language. They don't demand perfect pronunciation and phrase structure. They will make an effort to understand what you are trying to tell them.

I think back then the talent from abroad was relatively unknown so they just had no clue what to expect with Porzingis. It was really just bias for American players, which unfortunately still exists today to some degree, at least in some parts of sports media.
