16:43 The way I hear it, when rats are really happy they start to grind their teeth, and one of the muscles that does that stretches up behind the eyeball, so when they're _really_ happy and the grinding gets intense, the twitching of those jaw muscles makes their eyes jiggle.

17:30 No that is what happens when you super chill water. If you have distilled water, water that has had impurities removed, and then chill it there will be no material for the ice crystals to start to form so it does not freeze. This leaves you with water that is below freezing in temperature. As soon as you pour it it gets something to form ice crystals on it insta-freezes. So it was just water. They did not lie :)

As someone that has had pet rats. Watching folks react to them boggling never gets old. Don't worry yall. The rat is fine. When they happen to be super chill ( it can be a stress response but mostly its a chill cozy rat ) they grind their teeth and the way their muscles are put into place on the head, it causes their eyes to bulge a little but they're fine.

For context, the rats eyes are popping out because he’s Bruxing too hard! When a rat bruxes, they grind their teeth together. When they get very excited, and grind too hard, the muscles connected to their jaws causes the muscles around the eyes to flex, causing them to pop in and out. When this happens, it’s called eye boggling! And no, it doesn’t hurt the rat.

The rat is grinding his teeth. It's called "chbittering" and it serves two functions. Grinding down their teeth so they don't overgrow and also an expression of contentment. It's the rat equivalent of cats purring and yes their eyes do in fact bulge out when it happens. But that's just a healthy very happy rat.

There is a surprisingly large group of creationists who believe that the earth is way younger than shown in science, and in turn believe that dinosaurs never existed and humans and all other life were created as they are now. And the place shown during that clip was dinosaur valley state park, which is a hot topic among this group (along with being very close to a creationist museum). Mini minuteman has an amazing video discussing the topic and I highly recommend watching it and the rest of his stuff.

Interesting fact, the water video at the very end is real. It’s regular water. That’s what happens with purified water when it’s put in a freezer and gets below freezing temperature, but hasn’t been disturbed. Because there are so few imperfections in the water, the freezing process doesn’t really have anywhere to start so until the water has ripples or is disturbed, it won’t begin freezing. Pretty cool. You can do it yourself by putting a water bottle in the freezer and making sure your house isn’t too bumpy and then just come back later and pour it over some ice or just snack the water bottle and watch it freeze instantly
