Hey Bailey, I was actually stationed at the US Embassy in 1988-1990 in London, England. The reason why they kept the records/files sealed for 100 years was because they figured anyone associated with or related to Jack the Ripper would have passed away by then and their families would not be tainted by the bad light that would come from the outcome of the case. Another theory was that Jack the Ripper was a member of the Monarchy and this gave the Royal family time to do damage control.

Went to the jack the ripper museum in London last weekend, the info there was mostly dedicated to the victims, I feel so sorry for these women as they all had very hard life already and on top of that encountered such an evil person

I love Bailey's reaction to the psychological profile because it reflects the main reason I love forensic/criminal psychology and behavioural analysis. It seems like magic or them just picking random "facts" out of their arses but the more you understand and learn about how they do it the more it makes sense. I think it was one of the first forensic profiles for BTK (I think) where it was mentioned in the profile that the suspect, when found, would be wearing a buttoned single breasted suit. When he was caught BTK was in his bathrobe or something but he went to get dressed he came back to go to the station with officers and came back wearing a single breasted suit. It's nuts that in some cases they could be that accurate. It fascinates me that so much of who we are can be shown through our behaviour, and how our behaviour can be predicted by our background etc.

My Mom got me this book when she visited London with my sister and brother-in-law! They took the Jack the Ripper Tour of Whitechapel, and the guide recommended it, so my Mom got it. Such a great book, and I LOVED that it focused on who these women were as people! ❤

I go back and forth on whether or not Jack knew the final victim or if it was more violent simply because he had more privacy and time. Given she brought him back to her room, he was able to spend as much time as he wanted mutilating this poor woman. With the previous victims he was in a hurry because they happened in the street where anyone could witness it. He didn't have time to do as much because he had to do it quickly. The final crime may have been more violent because he didn't have to rush. Either way, we'll never know!

Imprisonment for another crime. 4. Institutionalization. One person even suggested that he moved to America and became HH Holmes.

Found out so much more about Jack the Ripper! I remember at one point there was a theory going around that he was actually a member of the Royal family but I think that was squashed. my grandma gave me the best advice for eyeliner years ago. you always have to start with your eyeliner on the eye you always mess up and then you can do 'your better side' more like the 'bad side' and they come out more even. It works for me :D

Do you know why the eyeliner tends to look better on one side vs the other? Just like how we are left or right handed, we tend to use the same eye for focus work as the dominant hand. Agreed! I expected to see him on the list. The problem with the boyfriend is he wouldn’t have much anatomy knowledge from fish. HH Holmes wouldn’t have been super familiar with the area. The brutality of the last victim could just be a matter of having privacy and time to do all the extra . But- one witness said there were two men so I guess Holmes could have had a local partner in crime with the motive being selling the organs
