Great video! I really appreciated the thorough review of the literature, and the solid understanding of contemporary scholarship on Paul. It seemed like you were anxious about the Sri Lankan metaphor but I loved it, personally. It's a great way to put a contemporary gloss on an key ancient situation. And now we live in Guru Y's world (but in the name of Guru X).

Thank you so much Paul! I deeply appreciate your feedback and the time you spent to watch it. I am also glad that you liked the metaphor :)

@@religiologEng I enjoyed the analogy as well. I grew up Roman Catholic in the US. My parents weren’t really super religious, but I attended Catholic school from Kindergarten to 8th grade so I had A LOT of religious instruction. Anyway, growing up, I never completely understood why if Jesus was Jewish and as Christians, we followed Jesus…. Then, why weren’t we also still technically Jewish too??? Why didn’t we also celebrate the Jewish holy says such as Passover, in addition to Easter and Christmas??? I now know that there actually is a sect who do combine both Judaism & Christianity called Messianic Judaism (I believe). But now, after watching this video, including your analogy, I think I’m starting to understand why that might be.

@@christinafidance340 Cool. I am glad it was helpful. Thanks for sharing more details on that. Yes, in some sense being a good follower of Jesus might mean to be a good Jew

Good video. I wonder if people put into consideration the fact that the early apostles might not have known that they were dealing with God made flesh. Because, as you noted, Jesus didn't emphasise this. To emphatically state "I am God" would have caused even more mockery and disbelief plus all the "Christological" debates (divine vs. human nature etc.) would have started there and then, which would not have been a good start! So when Christ's divinity became more clearly understood, it was natural that someone had to tell the world of what had just happened - and that someone was Paul. Could Paul's disagreements with Christ's apostles be due to the fact they they might not have understood clearly who Jesus was then?

what seems clear is that most likely Paul's interpretation of Jesus and his role differed from many of Jesus's disciples. But who can claim that Paul's interpretation was the correct one? We simply have many different perspectives

One of the outstanding features of the historical Jesus is that he not only called the Hebrew God "Father", but repeatedly called him "Dad" (Aramaic: Abba). What this means, and the mysterious identity of the historic (and potentially transhistoric) Jesus is exactly part of what is at issue between Paul and all of his detractors (and to a significant extent, all Christian thought since). Christ's divinity being "figured out" is exactly what owes a lot to Paul.

It's simple. Paul established the religion similar or based on Jewish religion. But it was and is the exact opposite of what Jesus taught.

Paul : Saul : Shaul : Sheol : Hades : Hell. There is more to hellboys original name than most realize. In Hebrew before vowel pointing the words are written exactly the same, and the Bible was definitely written way before vowel pointing. His original Hebrew name may have been pronounced differently but in written form it's the same. His parents named him after king Saul, the first king, known for being a tyrant. His name means "asked for"because God didn't plan for them to have an earthly king but the people asked for a king. The same for the church, God didn't want a authoritarian religion, but the people asked for domination by the anti-christ and wanted you to worship their image of the beast. Jesus Christ is not the same as this Pauline religion.

Ill tell you who paul was.. he was never hand picked by jesus and never met jesus therefore not an apostle. Paul is who jrsus warmed us about when jesus said there will be those who will say saw me in the wilderness DO NOT BELIEVE HIM!

i question the existence of jesus and paul. there is no evidences for the existence of either of them. the whole story is fiction.
