I don't think either were narcs. Narc gets thrown around too easily now. He was selfish, and she had anger issues that needed to be addressed early on. They were the perfect, codependent storm. Their relationship should've ended during college. They both held on. Taraji's character put up with way too much and gave him no incentive to change. The guy also did what many male clowns do: date and settle for who they do not like because they cannot get who they really want. He had a lucky break and was able to encounter who he always wanted. Nothing Taraji's character could've done would make him do right. He didn't like her and made her pay for it annually by being a bum. Taraji saw him perform for the woman he really wanted and snapped. She became a woman scorned, which, unfortunately, cost her her life. No narcs here. Just an entitled clown who got a lucky break and the woman he always wanted and a woman who had no self esteem to walk away from the familiar and it caused her demise. It's frightening how men will "settle down" with and marry women they don't even like, which is why I trust NONE of them until they prove otherwise.

This, along with Madea's (whichever movie Natalie, Loretta Devine & Bow Wow were in) were his best movies. Because they had the best messages. Acrimony showed me that victimhood can be your demise and the other one showed me how family secrets and grudges can destroy you. All his other stuff sucks though 😂😂

The boat scene makes sense when you think about the crashing the trailer scene and the extreme consequence (her death) was similar to her losing her ability to have children as a consequence for her actions when she found out he was with another girl. I think he was unintentionally bad for her but she was already off her rocker. His actions exacerbated her already fragile condition. But her family's inability to see the need to get her help beforehand means her mental illness went unchecked and she ended up dying as a result. Earlier diagnosis would have prevented all of this. But the family just treated her like that's just #HowSheIs I guess... great breakdown as usual!

I empathize with Melinda in that she was the one who worked for her ex-husband's dream to come into fruition. It could (and maybe should) be perceived that she put in the 80% and in the end, everyone came out on top except Melinda. Melinda: Should have left him a LONG time ago. Also, should have left him alone after getting $10M and her mother's house. I understand why she felt it wasn't enough because she destroyed her ability to have kids and wasted her best years on him, but those were her decisions. I do think she deserved half though for paying for his education and financing the battery. Obviously, all the stalking and violence were wrong. His 2nd wife was smart. I don’t think Robert was necessarily a con artist, bc that implies he knew Melinda was an easy lick, he was however, essentially a bum living off his gfs dime until he accomplished his goals, the whole plot of the movie hinges on this man getting this battery to work and getting people to invest in it, so while, yes, it’s incredibly selfish and manipulative that he used the resources of her family for years and subsequently put Melinda in so much distress for his own desires, I wouldn’t necessarily call that narcissism, but he was a determined loser with an end goal and he got it, you can be an opportunist without malicious intent, unfortunately most of the time that just comes with the detriment to other people, and the crazy thing is it didn’t have to be Melinda, she was just the only one dumb enough to give him the time of day, at the VERY least you can call him a leech, unfortunately for Robert he leeched off someone that was effing crazy 😭

He's a Mexican immigrant and says he hasn't seen his child in almost a year and wishes he could see her blah blah blah. Before you know it the nurses are giving him money to go visit his daughter. Allowing him to sleep on the job and protect him from managers. One time he lost his air pods and gave sob stories about that and the next thing you know they bought him new apple air pods and an apple watch to go with his phone. He even tried to get me to feeling sorry for him working long hours. It worked for a little while. I would play look out for him while he left me working alone for hours while he went to a different area and slept. If managers came looking id text his cell and tell him to come down. Then I thought about it. He complain a lot but no one is making him work these hours he does it himself then complain about it. When I noticed he walks past men and only holds conversations with women, I knew something wasn't right. I ended our friendship immediately. He notice he does it because men wouldn't gave a damn about him being tired but women have different emotions

@HeitCheri HOW SHE IS! Mel really loved him and did her best to support him. She gave her all and even lost the house!! I think you're right about the mental health piece because Mel wasn't able to control her emotions and had MPD. I think you're a little tough on Robert because he was so driven, and a mad scientist, he didn't realize he was hurting Mel by not working part time at least to help her out!! He really loved her!! But was mad crazy driven over getting that battery in the game!! If he was a con.. it was non intentional to hurt because it was for the greater good for he and Mel!! Remember!! He asked Mel repeatedly if she was sure and wanted the divorce!! He didn't want it!! Her damn meddling sisters that pressured her to get a divorce especially Pam the eldest!! So by Robert marrying the same Chick that Mel lost her insides over and giving her all the things he and Mel were supposed to have it sent Mel over the edge😮What he should've done was leave town and not post anything on social media and have his life where Mel couldn't know or see because I would snap too that's a triple slap in my face Robert wasn't thinking on that part!!🤔🤔There's a whole lot of layers to this movie!! It would be interesting if you could do a video from Robert's perspective not Mel's🤔
@ashtynbritt7889Ай бұрын
Okay so here's the thing- Melinda and her sisters didn't know what they didn't know. Objectively, it looked BAD, and after how long and hard he had let her down she had no reason to trust him so I totally get why she left. Also, regardless of the eventual outcome- (which btw, Robert is an obviously fictional exception- NOT the common reality of this situation) he STILL did her dirty all that time, and therefore the marriage was doomed.
@deshaylasmith35185 ай бұрын
Yall make it like the scenario are unrealistic. But I have experienced some of things and her range is real. Anyway I felt taraj's character was so unjust and he was scum. They played like he was broken man because she reached he breaking point and he has work. But Once he made it and he really honestly loved he should be work hard to get her back even is she gave him push back. But being scumbag he was he acted like im up and im give this woman that already got it what promised you and more
@HeitCheri5 ай бұрын
Well the parts that we found most unrealistic was him hitting the jackpot for $75 million and her basically devolving to trying to kill him after getting a large sum of cash like that. The other stuff was typical... Just not the part where it all happens to one person in a single story. 😊

How She Is Heit and Cheri, a lot of people hate this movie but I kind of like it. It was more believable and ran smoother story wise than some of TP's newer material **cough** Mea Culpa. The only thing I truly hated was how after not believing in this dude for SO LONG along with her toxic triangulating and flying monkey family, that she was bitter in any way after receiving sincere financial "gratitude pay" from him. Her unhinged inner state and emotional immaturity would not allow her to let bygones be bygones because he found someone who was treating him right, and was internally stable. So what if he gave that other woman all the things that were meant for her. She blew it.
@HeitCheri5 ай бұрын
She did blow it by not taking responsibility for the fact that she listened to other people. But, her legitimate mental illness surely affected her ability to reason.

@@Jessica.Shawnte I hear you. Yet I wonder if she would have felt used and drained if she did not have mental illness. Like, how different would it turn out if she shut out her family's toxicity successfully and ceaselessly believed in him? Would she truly be happy, internally and with him? Would she be standing hand in hand with him when his device earned him those million dollars to move in the penthouse, and save her mother's house? Or would she still be some sort of crazy anyway at some point???🤷🏽♀️

@explore8539 money don't replace time or emotions. Then he got with the woman whom he cheated with earlier in their relationship is who you move on with, and she pregnant. Her being 😡 is understandable. No one can tell the next person when to move on because you want them to. Her extreme actions were over the top, but she had a right to feel how she felt

I can kind of understand. seeing someone else live the life he promised her probably hurt a lot. it makes you feel worthless, like nothing you ever did or said mattered. combine that with her anger issues, and you get disaster. violence is never the answer, though.
