Timur probably was number wise the worst but person wise, nobody beats Andronikos Komnenos. A pedofile (and a pedofile in a way people in the Middle Ages considered Pedofilia, so you know it was particularly horrendous), child murderer, who enjoyed destroying his cousins family, massacred people at will and was ridiculously incompetent.

Richard II was a fragile egomaniac who could be very petty but he wasn't as malicious as other English medieval kings like John. He could be quite a kind man when he wanted to be and the future Henry V was rather fond of him growing up. He wasn't all bad.

I didn't know Richard II was this megolomanic, when was this painting at 10:54 made? I always thought Richard was the usual very kind and soft type of ruler like Henry VI (both were starved to death). Btw, are you the real Æthelflæd? I mean, I'm just a simple Portuguese knight, very chaste of course and honored to meet you. But... you bloody amazon mom, please nickname me viking and hunt me on horseback with a mean face. I'll recover Jerusalem for you... Ahem... but seriously, your channel is so awesome.. I think you should do a video, instead of these abrangent question, OF EVERY SINGLE ENGLISH KING. There's rarely stuff like that here on KZbin, for example, there's almost nothing about Henry VII. And with your charisma, surely it'd be a very nice series. It's funny to see you mocking Richard III for looking like that guy from Shrek lol

I shall chase you on an elephant personally donated by the Abbasid Caliphate, such is the Mercian tradition! These lists do present the worst side of the featured rulers so some are arguably not that bad. Richard was bought up being told kingship was his God given right and it looks like he really believed that. He had rather a sadistic temper it seems. There's a good series about the Plantagenets by Dan Jones with one episode on Richard II that shows his cruelty. I'm not sure exactly when the painting was made, I assume later in the Baron's life as he looks older and died around 40. I'd guess at between 1391-99, probably towards the end of that era when Richard was particularly tyrannical. That's just guess work though. It hangs at Leeds Castle now. Ok, now you can launch those nuns and dwarfs against my men, you Brittonic-English-Celtic-Anglonic-Mercianic elephant-riding daughter of Mars 😔 Ahem... You know what's weird? 14/15th century England never really interested me for some reason, I always liked more the Tudor/Crusading England more. Your video and that Richard painting lol just gave me a new hobby.. Richard is way cooler now for me now, as this handsome angry king. I'll check on Dan Jones's series. I still didn't even watch his documentary about Margaret Beaufort, even thought Margaret is like greatest English woman oat for me (sorry Æthelflæd). I also have the tendency of watching more documentary about modern stuff too (Pablo Escobar lmao). I think it was an interesting era for kings because they were still often on the battlefield themselves, swinging a sword and vying for the crown. They had a lot more skin in the game! Richard III was the last English king to die on the battlefield. Don't tell anyone but I'm scared of horses... THEY BITE!

To call Timur a bad ruler when he conquered so much and made Samarkand into the capital of central asia is bizarre, especially that there were worse rulers after him who couldn't do anything

He was a military GENIUS. If he had established more governance, like Genghis Khan did, then the Timurid Empire probably would have lasted a lot longer. Please do tell me your suggestions of worse rulers! The list is totally up for discussion, it's very interesting to hear people's thoughts on who shouldn't be and should have been on here.
