I believe Gaikowski was, in fact, the Zodiac killer. To me, the #1 reason comes from not only his descriptions of his feelings in the cracked cipher, or the fact that his military knowledge can be seen in his tactics; if you take a good look at the characters used in the cipher, you'll notice that there are some that fit the Cyrillic alphabet, and the cipher itself is similar to another cipher used by the Nazis in WWII. Gaikowski, serving as a medic in the 1950's, would have lived through WWII, and served during the Cold War.

I've been intrigued by the Zodiac murders for quite a few years and have taken a close look at all the suspects and the evidence against them. I've always believed that Richard Gaikowski was the Zodiac killer. Everything about him from his temperament, physical appearance and stout build, intelligence, military service, working in the media, strongly suggests that this man was the Zodiac. Although EV Best has an extremely strong resemblance to the police sketch of the Zodiac, his physical build and mentality simply doesn't fit the profile, unlike Richard Gaikowski.

I'm sorry but you're opening to this video is completly incorrect. Murder is difficult to get away with when you're killing someone you know and if you're already in a Federal Database. Serial Killers don't typically kill people they know, and aren't usually in databases. The FBI estimates that there are something like 200 serial killers active at any given time. You also have to realize that most Serial Killers have an MO, but just like anything else there are probably those who just kill random victims without an MO making them EVEN MORE difficult to catch. What you should do is look at the number of people who go missing without a trace every year and are never found or found dead years later. Obviously not all of those are Serial Killer victims but I bet a number of them are. Also, there are a lot of KNOWN Serial Killers active right now that have yet to be caught, which means there are probably even more that are unknown.

Uh that symbol is not of "unknown meaning" it's the symbol for the four seasons - the wheel of the year in Celtic pagan beliefs (not the one with the "holidays", but rather the one for the seasons, the one for the Sun god, as he's responsible for the changing of the seasons). Hence zodiac; which is also related to the different times of the year. It's really simple actually.
