Honestly, very well done. That was a great showcase of improvements being implemented. I enjoyed the multifront attack at the end. It wasn't perfect and would have been nice to see those ctrl groups, but it is a promising step in the right direction. Keep it up Ollie. I have no doubt that Gold league is going to become the new standard. Looking forward to the next video.

GG! Very well done Ollie! That was the real power of macro playing. Basically, even if your army failed to win you still had so much production and resource advantage in the game that you would be able to recreate this army once again in no time! *One tip of the day*: in the first 10 seconds of the game people set camera commands. Basically, you can press Ctrl+Shift+F1 - F5 to save a place on the map and after that when you press F1 - F4 your camera will jump to the place you saved. It is always very convinient to save main base, 2nd, 3rd and 4th bases to quickly switch between them and check that everything is fine. Also, when you have control groups you can click the control group key twice and you camera will move to the group. So, when you have a counter attack like in this game you can quickly press F1 or F2 to jump to the base, fix the problem and press 3 - 3 to jump back to your squad.

usually the camera locations are getting rehotkeyed to ctrl + F1-10 for setting up and just F1-10 to jump to them, but ig that breaks F2 AND F1, so idk...

@@Voidspacealpha one at the time, bro. You can jump to bases through backspace (could rehotkey to spacebar or smth more convenient) or at the very least by double tapping the hotkey you have them on. Control groups are way more important imo

So I am loving this game compared to your last. I find it sorta funny both of you just decided not to build vikings but you definitely showed a much better idea of terran push micro. True 7 minute stim isn't amazing but I love that as soon as you hit that "power spike" you took advantage of it. Another thing I'm really happy with is that you didn't use the F-2 micro. That allowed you to keep pushing at the front while dealing with at home. One more of a hint than a critique. Unless you are completely sure you know what's in front of you it is very dangerous to unsiege all of your tanks at once. If they realize you don't have any tanks set up they can swarm forward and end you. Having about half your tanks still in defense while you move your other half up allows you a safety net to fall back to. Keep up the good work.

Another essy fix is take workers that are on their way to the mine patch. Ill let him deposit and grab him up. Also holding shift and clicking units will add them one at a time. The same goes for holding shift and boxing units. You can box a group of units and jump to a different location on the map and shift box a different group to add them together. This is extremely useful for putting specific units in specific control groups like tanks or ravens.

One aspect i don't think ive seen anyone mention yet is worker usage. This is a small issue with a big impact. You commonly set workers to gather minerals then go build something. Thats not a big deal when its one but you did it with 5 at one time. Also doing that with a refinery you'll lose the minerals youve mined completely. Also you let the scv that built your starport go all the way back to the mineral patch with it selected and dropped the SP. The scv had to walk all the way back to build. I know it sounds nit picky but these habits will become a problem when your opponents start being more efficient and your buildings are slightly later. The simple fix is the C button tells a worker to drop off the load before they do their current orders. I had a tough time breaking that habbit myself.

@@Voidspacealpha it's not a huge deal but it's a bad habit that will haunt you in the higher leagues. 5 minerals isn't much to worry about after the early game. That could be the difference in making a timing attack work though when you're playing in diamond

When trying to kill idle air units that cant fight back (medivacs, overloards, warp prisms, etc.) move command past them and then attack move. Their default is to flee away from whatever is damaging them, so you can push them deeper into your territory and increase the odds of a kill. Also, your opponent wont get a warning until they take damage, so you’ll get more marines in range before he gets the warning.

wp, I normally play as zerg, so take my advice with a grain. I would say at about 8:35 when you said on the replay that you could have made a push is correct. You don't have to siege up the tanks at that point, just go get 'em.

8:00 - i dont think that was the best of ideas. You did the damage, forced a liftoff even, you should've at most stayed there. Probably even better would be to pick up and head out, since the army is probably coming. I have to say, good call on queueing some production beforehand (Im unsure if you queued SCVs tho...), that did come in handy indeed. 8:52 - you dont really need a wall that late, not like that is one even. But it might block out siege tanks for a while... Also could've dropped supply or two at that moment. 11:43 - i know it was lots of action ever since you dropped that base but why is it not an orbital/planetary? Also you didnt hotkey additional production that u were building

I think instead of following any specific tips, you might benefit most from a re-evaluation on how to measure improvement game over game. I've noticed at the start of every video, you always state general goals such as "do not get supply blocked" or "get more production" but these are fairly broad ideas that is not easily validated in the post-game replay analysis. Instead you might consider setting some attainable and specific goals. For example, in this game you were supply blocked at 23 supply so a goal for the next game might be "build my second supply depot at 21 supply" (~1:50 in-game time) then assess whether you've hit that goal in the replay. If the goal has been hit, then you can find another issue in the replay and set an incremental goal and repeat.

4:15 (4:24 being perfectly acceptable for Silver league) is a pretty good time for safety turrets. Not much can hit you before then. What if instead of building an ebay at 2:45, you had a bunker or another baracks and then the ebay starting more like 3:30. You have marines and you have orbitals. That covers all of the things turrets do (shoot up and detect cloaked units). Safety turrets are nice to have by the time liberators, mutas, oracles, and drops start showing up. 2/1/1 when performed by pro gamers hits 4:30. BCs around 5:30 if they teleport in. 1-2 oracle or 1-2 phoenix or 1 void rays can hit you before 4:00, but a handful of marines can take on any of those threats. 2-base muta is a pretty committed pressure and the fastest I can hit it is about 7:00 (in platinum). If you see mutas before 5:00 it is basically a hard cheese and all you have to do is survive to be waaaay ahead. On the other hand, what if you build turrets and he never goes air? If you built 2, not a big deal. If you built six, well thats a dozen marines you could’ve had (not saying i think you do this, just for arguments sake). So you can actually do a lot of damage to yourself with too much “just in case” stuff. Especially if you are getting it before you really need it.

Are you starting a rainy day fund with the rest of your minerals? 7:17 First time you dropped below 350 minerals since the last time stamp, and only because you just dumped it all into queueing up marines 9:47 There's only one reason to have this many minerals on hand: you've BEEN maxed out It's really hard to look at these things when you've won. But this was the easy opponent, this wouldn't have worked against more difficult opponents, like you should find in your next game. Its cool to talk about strategy, but strategies only matter if you have the units on the field to actually do what you want/need to do. He didn't. Don't be him against the more difficult opponents.

Been looking to your replies and you need to chill out, what's the point of him winning if you're gonna tell him every time that the opponent was easy? This is ranked, AND SILVER btw. Him beating a player that's also making mistakes doesn't take away the fact that it was a good win, that he improved and actually bested his opponent, he could've lost for that matter. a W is a W, simple as that

Hey man So to give you my reasoning and thinking on each of these 6:20 - I’m just trying to get more production out. I realise it wasn’t enough at that specific moment, my bad 7:17 I qued up a lot of stuff because I know my Marco game is going to suffer when I push 9:47 yeah I know. Again, I’m trying to train myself out of bad habits. I think overall I did better than the last few times I’ve played on production, but don’t forget you’re watching me learn live 😅 Yeah I guess you’re right, but the saving grace is I’m currently being matched with people roughly my skill level, so I guess I can kinda afford to learn right now?
