Reynor is for me the biggest "Wundertüte". I can easily imagine him getting elimnated early, because what I have seen in the last few month wasn't great. However, I can just as easily see him explode and win it. Sure, that can happen to every player. But with Reynor it seems to me more like a 50-50. Compared to Serral who could drop out early, but chances of happening that I'd rate extremly low. Looking forward to the tournament and I appreciate this video from you A LOT. You give us so many insights to why you rate the players the way you do, much appreciated!

I agree that Serral is most likely to win it. Lookung at a recent interview between schistorian and herO, even herO said that Serral looks invulnerable in offline events. As much as my protoss copium may convince me that herO Classic finals would be epic, I think Serral will take it. I'm hopeful for Classic, but rolling into Clem r1 of the tournament is rough as heck. This is going to sound crazy, but I think Maru will be upset by either ByuN or Oliveira in the upper bracket and have to go through the 2nd vs 2nd matches, where, if it's a Bo7, he'll advance to the top 4 4-1.

Maybe iam real pessimistic here. But i feel like clem will beat serral, then choke against a weaker Player and create a one sided grand Finals. I think stuff like this happend a lot in big tournaments (not always obv.) And i think clem is one of the players serral struggels the most against since years. Besides, too bad max pax still doesnt want to play offline tournaments😢

Very well argumented picks. I personally dont believe in Maru, but prolly becasue i follow mostly foreign SC2, where Maru alwys doesnt deliver. I cant even say its purely rational for me, i just dont believe in him. Also Reynor is an unkown to me, after the gamers8 wins something seemed to have stoped working for him. I respect MaxPax choice, but its apity he doesnt participate ,I truly believe he is the best Protoss in the world.

I, as a Finn, so encourage Serral, but his military service has limited his playing and preparation for this tournament. And there are still the best EU players in the group. I think Clem will beat Serral. However, in the statistics, the last few games have been lost to Serral. Let's see how the games go and how it goes. You can't always win. Life is such that even the best lose from time to time.

Sereal has to be the favorite. However, with this huge prize pool certainly every player with a realistic chance has definitely prepared builds for Serral, so its going to be a tough road. Weekend tournament favors Zerg a bit, but i still would put Reynor behind Clem. Otherwisr agree completely with your ranking. Will be a fun one!

@@BestPrezz Zerg benefits the least from preparing for specific opponents, so they tend to do a little better than they do in prepared tournaments. There are some exceptions like Rogue or the Reynor Katowice championship, but generally it's that way.

My biggest problem with this world cup is a map pool. Since most of the new "unconventional maps" are vetoed or skipped in a map pick, for few month I'm watching only matches at Oceanborn, Site delta and Alcyone. And here again due to Bo1 and Bo3 until the final four, all the matches gonna be played at those 3 maps. It's boring af. Af

All of these matches from the Brackets i showed are being played as Best of 5s, while Semifinals and Grandfinals will be Best of 7 and Best of 9 respectively. And given that you can pick a map after only a single veto in BO5s, so you will get to see plenty of the other maps!

I expected some insides here about Serral tbh. He's not practicing that much, is he? I think it's too biased to put him above other players, like Maru or Clem, who practice full time, I mean he's great, but there are some limits. Or does he really play? That's the intrigue.

Imo the only people that have a chance against serral are clem, oli, reynor, and solar. Maru doesn't stand a chance. I would rate him like 4th just in case someone else knocks serral out.

That would be true just a month ago, but this type of stuff changes from week to week for progamers. One week you can feel terrible in a matchup and the next something clicks and you gain confidence quickly. He does very well against every Protoss in Europe at the moment aswell.(Including maxpax and skillous).

I think the bane nerf hit Reynors playstyle too hard, he is not perfect enough with the spellcasters to win. Oliviera showed he can win and I think he should be in top 5, hey I'll stick my neck out and say he's clear in top 3, he was so close taking out Serral in the ESL spring semi finals and he did NOT sweat getting there.

I would probably rate Maxpax as 3rd/4th currently if it was a random Online Tournament. If he came to EWC as his first offline event however, I would've rated him behind all the players in this video as 7th, because nerves and experience play a big part in events like these.

Gonna be honest I don’t agree with the Reynor as the 3rd pick. To win the tournament he needs to beat Cure>Clem>Serral, and then sometime Maru and probably Serral again. Also his Gamers8 victory is SUPER overrated. He never even played Serral, Maru, Dark, Hero.. aka only 1 of the 4 of your top 6 who isn’t Reynor himself and then Clem, of whom has improved this past year. He hasn’t been top 4 in any major event for a year and a half besides Gamers 8.

That's a very fair take. If i'd go purely by recent results he'd be 6th (going by only his results since g8 it'd be even lower). I gave him the 3rd place mostly because i have access to his practice games, and I judge his current skill level as very high + I think he has the best mentality out of anyone in these types of events!

My opinion is probably incorrect but I feel like if somehow Serral gets knocked out the player I favour to win it all is Hero, he has Clem and Reynor's number and his matches against Maru always go to the limit whether best of 5,7 or 9. But thats just it.. Serral would have to be knocked out. I think Maru will be stopped by Serral if not by Hero

I actually agree with everything except for Maru, and I'm a Maru fan. I wouldn't put him in the top 5 to win, personally, but I would put him as #1 to come in second place. I really do think he has a massive mental issue with winning offline events outside of Korea. So yea, I'd remove Maru from the list and bump everyone up a spot, and I'd have Oli as the honorable mention at #6. I would put Classic at #7 for his big brain shenanigans.
