@@FredMinnick As an old SOB, the talking filter I had, blew out a while ago around 60. Being frank, 100 whiskies is too many and probably going to kill ya at some point. Whether you’re eating lamb, drinking coconut water or spitting it out, it’s still not good. I would rather see a “sweet 16” for another 20 years than a top 100 for????? Be well.

Why were Old Fitz 13 Year VVS, JD10/12, and Bardstown Bourbon Co Discovery Series 12 not considered? You mentioned Old Fitz decanter series was the worst this year. Are you referring to the 10 Year spring release? Or VVS?

@@jamesparr188 it's my understanding that he disqualifies SiB from his personal top-100. So we shouldn't expect to find any SiB labels here. No matter how good a particular Henry McKenna, Russell's Single Barrel, King of Kentucky, Blanton's SFTB might be.

@@gnrfan504 He did. However, he did not specify what release. Fall 2023? Spring 2024?, VVS? VVS was arguably one of the best releases this year. I believe it’s worth a mention at least (even if it does not qualify Top 100 for whatever reason).

The NBC Finest Small Batch surprised the hell out of me. Super fruity, but still some leather and oak that stuck around at the end. So mad at myself for not grabbing a backup while I could.

A good salesman could sell bad whiskey, but good whiskey sells itself, so I’d have to say the distiller is infinitely more important

Agreed. A great salesman can sell bad whiskey once. A great distiller can sell good whiskey for a lifetime. Industry people who are more on the marketing side of things, like Minnick, put a greater emphasis on the importance of marketing, perhaps for job security. The whiskey industry is slowing in large part because of bad marketing/pricing and bloated marketing budgets. Whiskey became too popular and profitable too quickly, which allowed for people who do not actually care about whiskey into the industry.

He did awesome. He made a small mistake where he did the tasting on the 5 through 10 spots and lined them out in the exact order he wanted them ranking them one by one against each other. And then when he finished he got distracted and called them in the wrong order but still pulled the top 4 in the right order. It was weird and I’m sure he will realize.
