Agreed, the father-son qualification system is stupid. At Hawthorn Ben Allan won a B&F in a premiership year as well as being a 2x All Australian. But because he played 98 games Ed Allan didn't qualify as a father-son. Yet someone like Alwyn Davey who was a role player at best played 2 more games so his sons qualified for Essendon.
