Joey is right. Fundamentally zombies don't make sense. The only way they might make any sense is if you think about the parasitic route like The Last Of Us explored in part one. Theoretically, if you could create a zombie, what kinda parasite would it take, what realistic functions and strengths could a zombie actually have, given that they should be in a weakened state surely? Being controlled by a parasite shouldn't add any strength to you, actually you technically should deteriorate over time because the natural function of a parasite is to feed off you and use you to reproduce.

ill say give a few years like around 5 years cuz even if the zombies decay, that only the flesh, not the bacteria/virus/parasites which will still be alive. And there is gonna be that one person getting infected from those things even after the zombies are decaying. A kid would be most likely to get close to a decaying zombie when it was not able to move of how curious they are. 5 year margin would be good enough for all bacteria/virus/parasites to be all gone unless no one gets infected. We don't want it to infect more people to make it stay alive longer or it to mutate into a stronger one which will make the process of eliminating them more difficult.

Look, Garnt... a flamethrower was never meant to challenge firearms. The flamethrower is for dealing with trenches, encampments, tight corridors, etc. where a gun would generally be less effective. The flamethrower is also practically a guaranteed kill, whereas the gun requires aim (or luck). The flamethrower also has a residual effect, as the fire will spread to objects and even other people, thus making it incredibly efficient in specific circumstances. Against zombies... tough to say. For the sprinting variety, sure, you'll get a few kills, but you'll die. For the Walking Dead style zombies? Now THAT'S a lot of damage. Group them up, set a few ablaze, and enjoy the barbecue. Just gotta take note that they won't stop while they burn, and avoid being collateral damage of the fire when it spreads. Regardless of how the zombies work, though, if their flesh can be burned, then they can be made immobile (can't do anything without good ol' muscle), and thus "eliminated". Then there's the fuel to be considered, which will be just as valuable, if not more so, than ammunition. So I'd say better to use molotovs or makeshift flamethrowers than running around with one of those deathtraps on your back. Oh yeah, right, the weight... yeah, no thank you to flamethrowers unless it's mounted onto a vehicle or something like that. Hellllllll no to chainsaws. Too slow to cut through, too dangerous for your own well-being, extremely prone to jamming/chain coming loose or breaking/bar snapping/quitting/stalling, plus you have the same problem with gasoline (and 2-stroke oil) or electricity for the electrical powered ones. Seriously... you're better off with a blunt or sharp melee weapon than expecting a chainsaw to be serviceable. They're made for trees, not flesh and bone lol. Regardless of how highly I think of myself (or others), the noxious fumes from all those walking corpses or even just blood-to-skin contact would be GG. People tend to ignore how zombie blood on the skin would be a death sentence (assuming the virus/parasite/etc. causes infection through fluid transfer). I remember one movie, where the father got a drop of zombie blood into his eye and immediately started turning. You're just... absolutely screwed. Full body needs to be covered at all times, taking off clothing would have to be done meticulously and the clothing disposed of every time (or disinfected, if that's possible), and any cuts/holes/openings would need to be dealt with immediately. Trip on the concrete and make a hole in those new pants? Welp, outfit change time... or else. But yeah, the other humans would probably kill me/get me killed before a zombie could even get me :( .

Surviving a zombie apocalypse would be easy if the zombies were logical. After 6 months to a year, they will have decomposed so much that they can no longer move. If we are talking about the Walking Dead zombies that decompose really, really, really, really, really, really, slowly, then it still isn't an issue because they move so slowly that they shouldn't even be a threat. I feel like the zombies aren't the main problem in a zombie apocalypse... it is other people.

Hot places DEFINITELY NOT. Because mosquitoes. Sure mosquitoes track humans with blood via body heat, so zombies who are like more than a few days or weeks old would not be viable for mosquitoes to suck their blood, but zombies that recently got turned? Those can and will be viable for mosquitoes to pass the disease to other healthy humans still around. So the best place would be a place that can grow crops even though it's extremely cold. To slow the zombies down and make them succumb to the cold.

Why is Connor so confident about burning zombies? Its shown to be really ineffective as zombies just straight up walk through the flames and keep going. The correct definite answer is limb damage. You don't need to lop it off, you just need to ruin the leg's ability to support the weight of the rest of the body and then you just make your escape. As for hiding place? What freaking hiding place? If you got strong high walls or structure sure. But you need enough land to farm and cultivate food. Otherwise staying anywhere is stupid because you'll simply die from lack of replenishing food supply. But the most definite thing you need to fear is humans. Humans without civilisation are assholes. They are savage, selfish and will betray you at the drop of a hat. Especially when their needs aren't met. People will only form tribes if they have a guarantee to survive, but the moment things turn south. You're gonna get shanked by some asshole.

@@aidanker-foz6511 at its face you can't be grounded in reality. Its a fking zombie. its a moving corpse, either by magic or magical viral infection. And to do that you need a working digestive tract. The horror of zombies is that they defy common sense. the dead moving and walking and attacking while having none of the means that allows it to move. And yet it does. You can burn its muscles and tendons and rip out its guts. It will still move. So when you do something as pointless as fire. It sets it on fire and now you got a burning corpse thats still moving towards you. Also read a book of a kid finding a zombie in Anchorage Alaska in a glacier melting and got bit and that's how it started. Fire does not kill a person outright. A flamethrower is a pain inducer. Zombies do not feel pain, this become a walking fire hazard. They will melt, but it would take minutes or even hours before it stops them. Chainsaws aren't good at chopping people up, despite what horror movies tell us. Plus even if you could, it would break or run out of fuel. Mellie weapons are best, but not against hordes. Guns are better, but need a supresser added to reduce sound. And bullets. Bows and crossbows are good, but Bows take time to learn to use and crossbows are slow to reload.

Never had a actual tree-house, but behind my first ever school there was this big forest that we'd sometimes play after school while waiting for our parents. At some point me and a few class mates started collecting various broken off branches and otherwise loose debris and striking them up around the trunk of a sturdy pine-- slowly adding onto/fixing it for months until eventually we stopped sticking around after school. Years later my younger sister (who went to the same school) would tell me that she and a friend of hers once had found a certain formation of branches and debris stacked up around a pine tree in pretty much the same location, so I don't really know if our little hut had managed to stand the test of time or if some other kids had taken it over after we left-- but either way that thing remained relatively intact for WAY longer than it should have.

Going off of the removing the head and destroying the brain rule for zombies, a flamethrower would get you killed so fast. Ok, what I have learned, Conner is the one with the flame thrower, struggling with a few dozen Zombies because the flames take time to work. While Joey is struggling to just chop one down one swing at a time, the sword probably getting stuck at some point, and he turns to Garnt, who just tells him to get Conner to help so he can save bullets. lol most people don't realize that gas goes bad fairly quickly, so if you stored a shit ton of gas right before things went to shit then it would only stay good for 3-6 months. Chainsaws are also not meant to cut any wet objects like flesh and will completely jam up so no go using a chainsaw in a zombie apocalypse. I've helped some friends build houses and we've built "bunkers" on their property. Easiest ones to build are by taking a seacan from a cargo ship and burry it and if you want you can put concrete pillars along and over it if you want them deeper so the weight of the soil doesn't collapse the bunker.

I think the idea of head-shots killing zombies is that if you damage the nervous system enough, then even if a virus is controlling it then, if we think about it like a computer and assume the virus is controlling it and all, then the brain has become a keyboard and mouse. could you maybe still control it? maybe, but its gonna be practically impossible. And, well if the virus has just hijacked the brain and made the person more aggressive, cannibalistic, and nonreactive to pain or physical damage, then I mean, the brain is still controlling it and destroying that destroys the whole thing.

To my knowledge, flamethrowers were not used to burn someone. Rather, it is use to flush out enemies hiding in bunkers/tunnels by combusting the available oxygen in the bunkers/tunnels. I do wonder how effective is fire to zombies as they are in certain cases immune to pain, which is what stops mortal humans in their tracks. The actual zombies probably have enough time to claw you before actually succumbing to loss of motor function due to burnt muscles. EDIT: Fire is also used as a psychological weapon of sorts. Dumb zombies aren't scared of it at all.

6:11 The bones vs. wood debate is an interesting tangent, and I would like to add to it. Bones (dry) are brittle and erode quick if exposed(hence why human bones are supported by tissue, muscles, skin, tendons, bone-marrow regeneration), and wood is much more flexible(hence why we build with it) and contains moisture better. Wood is also living tissue, but thats neithe h ere nor there. A bone is just a bone when its not inside a body. Except the marrow. So, bones would probably not clog the chainsaw, but it would create a lot of bone dust/bonemeal(useful for fertilizer, bad for breathing). So dry bone could be fine, but wet bones - with a mix of flesh, hair, maybe cloth adds a challenge of tangling up. And wood is very consistent tissue - which is relevant because a chainsaw skipping can cause problems with the machine, but also, it sometimes is a problem if the target is mobile(because weight and momentum). The chainsaw skipping can run off with you because of its power - especially if its being moved or jostled. The difference is probably marginal, it will still kill and shred, but if its survival scenario and your chainsaw tangles or breaks in some other way, its attached to the thing you're trying to kill - so you either have to leave it or first get the machine free of it. Plus, the chainsaw useful in other ways, making it valuable - cutting wood, that can be used to make barriers. Also useful for breaking barriers. Chainsaw is useful! But for many more things than making zombie sushi. This is all speculation - Im not a machinist, but I do like science, especially biology, and watch alot of crafters breaking down their engineering method, field or process in my sparetime.

Speaking of killing zombies by shooting them in the head, it might not be as easy as you think it is. Not all headshots guarantee a kill and some headshots are survivable. In order for a headshot to be the most effective at stopping an attacker, you would have to make a hit in the central nervous system. This means placing a round in the brain stem (located directly behind the nose when viewed from the front). The best way to do that is to aim for the "triangle" between the outer edge of the eyes and the tip of the nose (sometimes also referred to as the "T-Box"). That shot becomes harder to hit especially with a handgun the farther you get. Hitting any other place in the head could still be deadly, but often times the bullets can bounce off of the skull, or go underneath the skin and ride around the skull instead. Both are survivable wounds. It is also worth noting that there are people who have survived headshots even with rounds in their brain.
@weef21882 жыл бұрын
without surgery a headshot will always be fatal assuming your blood is still pumping you'll be bleeding all over your brain which is bad even with surgery your chances of surviving just a typical brain bleed caused by an aneurysm is 50% let alone an injury where you had a bullet carve its path through your brain

Okay this bit kind of annoys me, but the whole "shoot them in the head and it'll stop them" thing comes ours realistic in that human bodily function - including movement - result from the brain's ability to functionally transmit intent represented as electrical impulse signals through the nerves to individual muscles. That is what makes you walk, run, chomp down on that yummy man-flesh, etc. So, shooting the brain may not guarantee a kill as you may not properly destroy the segments of the brain responsible for movement. However, if you aim properly, finish them off with another shot, you can kill them. OR. You could aim for the brainstem, or even just the segment of spine in their neck, so that those impulses can never reach the relevant muscles. As such, no movement is possible. Of course, none of that may apply to one with a parasite controlling them like a second brain from the chest, but still.

The first thing that comes to mind for me would be an axe or maybe something like a dadao of you were set on a sword.
