Two of Undertale's fiercest fighters are Undyne the Undying and the noble King Asgore. While the latter taught the former, it seems that with the passage of time, Undyne has been honing her skills just as much, if not more than her original master! Using every tiny detail available within the game, Underlab pieces together who would win if the two decided to duel!

Underlab, you're forgetting the fact that Asgore can dodge. During the dialouge for Undyne's date, she gives a pretty valid point that Asgore can dodge: "Once, to prove I was the strongest, I tried to fight ASGORE." "Emphasis on TRIED." "I couldn't land a single blow on him!" There. That's the proof you need to know to ensure that Asgore can dodge

Mikael Britschgi Yeah, he looks too bulky to dodge. He seems like a natural tank, especially with all those hits he can take from you (with the highest level for his boss battle being 18) and the armor doesn't seem to do TOO much

The Infinexos Perhaps the armor really IS good (checking his stats indicates that he has 80 DEF) but due to him not wanting to fight, his defenses are weaker. This was explained in a book in the librarby.

Even if it was a fight to the death, Undyne more than likely wouldn't be able to use her undying form. She was only able to use when the fate of humans and monsters was at stake. Where as on the neutral routes she doesn't have as good of a reason to carry on. And while she did survive a while longer she quickly weakened with every turn and died soon after.

I don't think there is much of a contest here. With his 80 ATK and 80 DEF, Asgore is *tremendously* more powerful than Undyne and his attacks are far more impressive than hers. The only reason he does not kill the player in a few hits is that he's depressed and wants to die. The only monster with such stats is Toriel, who does not want to kill you either. Basically, short of resorting to her Undying form, Undyne does not have a prayer of ever beating Asgore at his best. She managed to *knock him down* once, but a knockdown is not equivalent to a defeat, especially for someone who can unleash a storm of fireballs out of their hands. Asgore is likely holding himself back tremendously when he spars against Undyne, lest he would incinerate her in one or two hits. "but stats don't mean anything in Undertale because Sans has 1 ATK and 1 DEF and is the hardest boss," I hear you say? Yes, Sans's case proves that superior skill, tactics and weapons can sometimes be more important than stats. However, it should be noted that Sans's stats are not a lie, he does deal one damage (per frame) and has 1 HP (but good luck hitting him). Sans is essentially cheating in his battle against you, using his full awareness of game mechanics to turn everything you know about the combat system upside down. There is no reason to think Undyne would have any such tricks up her sleeve (again, barring Undying form) to even out the ridiculous power gap between Asgore and herself, especially since Asgore taught her everything she knows about combat.

"We don't know for certain if the magical fire and blazes are ad hot and dangerous as real fire..." Well, not really. We know that Toriel and Asgore cook food with fire magic, so they can certainly make it hot enough for that, and the fireballs they use in battle are hot enough to hurt... But there is also the magic fire in Toriel's home, that's warm enough for Frisk to stick their hands through it and not be hurt. This leaves me to believe that magical fire can be as hot as a monster wants. Might also explain how Grillby isn't burning everything he touches.

I don't think that Asgore wants to die, he's just feels guilt for losing his children and wife which had lead to his reclusion from fighting and his move to being more merciful. This can be shown when Frisk meets him in a neutral/pacifist run, where he seems happy to find that someone has come to see him he only gets solemn when he sees Frisk, realizing that there is no escape from the fight coming up. He even attempts to talk Frisk out of fighting by saying that he's nervous of the fight, and that they should turn back if they had anything left to do, even when he initiates his fight Asgore still tries to comfort Frisk even though that their the last soul needed. Even though he asks Frisk to kill him after their fight it's mainly due to his guilt that haunts him, and his wish for Frisk to have a better life by crossing the barrier, also if Frisk spares him here Asgore finally puts his demons at rest and forgives himself to help Frisk. During a genocide run Asgore still attempts to deescalate Frisk's apparent anger by offering tea, even when he could've been warned by Alphys and definitely warned by Flowey of their murderous intentions, which would be the opposite of a man wanting to die.

I haven't played the game in a while, so forgive me if I'm wrong about this. When you check the oven in Toriel and Asgore's houses, the stove tops are clean, since Toriel and Asgore use fire magic to cook their food. So, that means their fire magic has about the same power as regular fire. If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me.

Sans The skeleton depends on what flowey did. We have clues but don't know completely what he did. Also Flowey tells he once was able to RESET. This means in one timeline he could be a genocidal murderer while in the other timeline he makes Friends with everyone. Flowey once had the most Determination of all beings in the Underground because as we learn in the True Lab he's a flower that got a dose of Determination from Alphys.So he was the most determined one until Frisk fell into the Underground and you know... The Game hapened.

One thing to consider is that we never see the true extent of Asgore's power. He never even looks at us during the fight, which makes me think that he was not fighting using his true power. Undyne on the other hand really wanted to kill Frisk, which means that she would fight using her true power.

I feel that in an all out life or death battle, in the throne room, Asgore could have the major advantage of setting fire to the arena KH2 Axel style, at which point he simply has to endure Undyne's attacks, if he could bring himself to it, after that it all depends on how they can handle each other's ranged attacks, such as whether or not Asgore's fire balls can transfer any force to the spears she can summon. I understand that this is a idea that would get people angry as it is turn based, but it is possible to block an attack as we see in Undyne's fight as well as being able to block an attack with an attack in Mettaton's fight.

Im pretty sure the higher your LV, the more damage asgore does. I was doing a genocide route. 1 monster left in the CORE, so i saved, killed NEO and fought asgore. He did a LOT of damage to my LV17 character. No healing items, but i used to be able to fight him at LV1 with only the pie. I also rediscovered my hatred of sans. If not for the poison effect, but the 1 damage per frame, i would have won multiple times before. Anyway, the reason i brought up the LV (outside of complaining) is that undyne must at LEAST be LV5. She has killed multiple humans, and humans can take a lot more of a beating than most monsters.

Why do I have a feeling that this video is more "How could Undyne survive against Asgore" rather than "Undyne vs Asgore" because this video sorta seems biased. "Undyne could summon a shield that could block Asgore's fireballs" what?? If she can do that, then she would've done it in the genocide route. "Undyne's spears have a farther range than Asgore's fireballs??" what??? Also "Asgore is out of shape??" If he was out of shape, then how could he have trained Undyne??? Plus, Mettaton said it in his quiz that Asgore is strong and burly, not fat. Anyway, I think Asgore would win because 1. Asgore has higher ATK, DEF and HP. 2.Asgore can dodge, unlike Undyne. 3.Asgore can summon waves of fireballs that can cover the entire bullet board (and in that attack, you can barely Dodge the fireballs.) 4.Asgore was holding back in his neutral fight and we do not know his real strength yet.

I think it could go either way for NORMAL Undyne & Asgore. Undyne in her Undying form would definitely solidly beat Asgore (unless he brought out the human souls of course) but normal Undyne vs Asgore would be a WAY closer fight. I'm personally leaning more towards NORMAL Undyne loosing to Asgore because something that wasn't really brought up in the video is that Asgore has the ability to either dodge or block (and most likely just chose not to when fighting Frisk) based off what Undyne says in her house which was "Y'know, I was a pretty hotheaded kid. Once, to prove I was the strongest, I tried to fight ASGORE. Emphasis on TRIED. I couldn't land a single blow on him!". Either way whether he's dodging or blocking doesn't matter that much. What's important is that Asgore has a way to avoid getting hit at all which is EXTREMELY valuable in the Undertale world. Sans is the perfect example of why a monster being able to dodge is so powerful. It's unknown how good Asgore is at dodging / blocking though but even if he could only dodge / block successfully a measly 25% of the time for example (unlike Sans who basically dodges 100% of the time as long as he isn't very tired) Asgore would still live roughly around 1.5 times longer than he normally would in the neutral route fight with him, so I personally think him being able to dodge while Undyne can't is enough to just barely make him stand victorious against NORMAL Undyne.
