What about the doctor's daughter, Jenny? They had her die, and then after the doctor, Donna and Martha leave, she awakens and takes off. Do they ever remeet? It would be interesting to see if this happens especially if both have regenerated. She overhears someone mention the doctor and tardis in a conversation and asks them questions to find out where and when they saw him and what he looks like.

The Trickster should’ve be behind the Timeless Child story. It should’ve been one massive mind trick that snowballed into the fabrication of Division, Tectayun, and if they wanna keep the Timeless Child, cos all that experimentation would make him hate the time lords Also, I wish The Master didn’t tissue compress the Lone Cyberman. I wish Chibnall made him more of a threat, a dark look into the psyche of a stuck Cyberman, and give him deeper monologues, make him darker, give him more time to develop ANYTHING he was so cool

Kameleon - I was under the impression that the prop was so hard to use because the man who built it, and was the only one who knew how to operate it, died shortly after the first story was filmed. A modern version would be a great idea. The Paternoster Gang - I feel that they would be like cookie dough a taste is great, but too much will make you sick. My understanding of Being Human/The Family of Blood is that John Smith was made from The Doctor. Everything John Smith was was something the Doctor had in him. Jacobi's The Master was a kind man working to help others until he got his memory back. Missy shows that The Master is capable of growth. The End of Time established that The Master is indeed insane in a legal context and that insanity is a side effect of Rassilon's work. So what I'm saying is that The Master isn't even a proper villain. The Master is a child Rassilon used as a tool and turned into a weapon and honestly that makes everything Rassilon's fault. The Doctor should probably get on that at some point because I'm thinking exile for such a monster might not be good enough.

I wouldn't say that the Meddling Monk is a villain - he's just having fun. True, if he went too far, chaos might ensue, but his actions when we first meet him, are to help King Harold, who he thinks could be a good king... With a little help. And were it not for The Monk, we wouldn't have Stonehenge. So he's not evil as such; just a bit selfish and misguided. He did ally himself with the Daleks for a while, then saw how they did things, and ran. As any sensible person would. Kamelion was a proper, progammable Automaton. Sadly, however, his creator died, not leaving full written instructions on how to use the prop.

I highly recommend listening to Big Finish Audio's Doctor Who range. Derek Jacobi has been brilliant in his own Time War Master series (especially in one audio season where he alters Skaro's history so 'He' creates the Daleks). The Meddling Monk has had amazing audio appearances (played so well in various incarnations by Graeme Garden, Rufus Hound and recently Gemma Whelan as The Nun). Kate Stewart has had some brilliant appearances in UNIT audio series (along with Osgood and new brilliant characters). The Lone Cyberman really needed a longer arc (killed too quickly) and the Trickster needs a proper Doctor Who main series appearance.

The Meddling Monk was stranded, he was also a Time Lord so he might have been arrested by the Time Lord authorities, long before The Time War. Rassilon should be on this list. Neither of his new who appearances touched on his actual identity and important role in the history of the timelords. What about all those other temporal fragments of Scaroth the last of the Jagaroth that are splintered throughout Earth's history pushing technology forward to the point that 1979's Scaroth might have working time travel technology to affect his escape from Earth billions of years in the past? And Meglos, I believe Romana mentions that the villainous Zolfa-Thuran cactus is practically invulnerable near the end of the series that bears his name near the point when he may or may not have been destroyed by the Dodecahedron. Both MacGann and Jacobi were at least given a lot of Big Finish audios to balance out their lack of screen time. And the General had some appearances in comics. My personal number 1 is Jo Martins Doctor. She was everything a female Doctor should've been like (and everything the 13th lacks) and she felt like a very promising character: manipulative like the 7th ("don't use the gun. I beg you, don't use it."), ready to be a brutal warrior like the 9th and 10th, and UNLIKE 13th, does NOT need a sonic screwdriver all the time since she's "too smart" to need it.

He was first in the tenth, and 1983 (20 years) so ten years after the 50th makes sense for a return. And with Rassillon's legacy as creator and benefactor of the Timelords first twisted by Big Finish, turned to personal pride of his creation in the Time War; and then utterly written out by Chibnall's disasterpiece; Omega's own feud with Rassillon and the Timelords could get interesting.

The Master's story is explained by John Simm's Harold Saxon, that (after the movie events) the Timelords resurrected him to fight in the Time War. They managed to resurrect lots of people, so why not the Master? At first he fought like they wanted, that's the War Master (in Big Finish audio stories portraied also by Derek Jacobi), but then he got scared, he fled to the end of the universe (Utopia) and used the Chameleon Arch thingy to turn himself into human to hide from the Timelords or anyone searching for him and that's how proffesor YANA was born.

I'd welcome more of both Kate Stewart and the Paternoster Gang; for that matter, Paternoster would make for an interesting spinoff. I also agree that more Derek Jacobi screen time would have been good. On the subject of "contemporary human companions"... they fill an important narrative role - they bridge between the viewer and The Doctor's world, his experiences, and his point of view. Without companions or with companions who are either not human or non-contemporary, the viewer is more detached from the narrative. When The Doctor was travelling with someone like Sara Jane, Tegan, Peri, or Clara, the viewing experience was almost like being another companion; when The Doctor was travelling with Romana (another Timelord), Adric, or Leela, the viewing experience was more as an outsider. I don't think non-contemporary or non-human companions are a good idea.
@SplotchTheCatThing
@SplotchTheCatThing 2 жыл бұрын
And yet, the companion who was arguably the most alienating to audiences -- or at least for me and the people who I've watched the show with -- was Mel Bush, who was from then-modern day Earth. The problem wasn't that she was unrelatable, it was that her existence was never given any context on the show itself beyond where and when she was from. One of the best companion dynamics in the entire series was the Second Doctor with Jamie and Victoria and/or Zoe. All of whom were from either Earth's history or future. TBH I really don't like black and white TV, but whenever I find those old episodes I still watch, just for them. Point being, any concept can be executed very well or very badly, a character can be written to be more than one thing, and a companion character who risks alienating the audience doesn't have to be the only one there -- they could even start as a sort of secondary companion. And I think if anyone involved with the modern show could do it well, it would be RTD. So it would be a bit of a shame if he doesn't take a stab at mixing something up, companion-wise -- heck, even if it's not this.

The Rani needs to come back. A early Time lord Morbius. The great vampires. There are so many from classic who that just need an update. As for new who a story with more backstory and interaction with the Silence would be awesone

I love your videos! I know its a "TV only" list, but its waaaaayyyy to frustrating....I want to scream at my TV all the time. Listen to BF you will love it! Big Finish is sooo underrated in the fandom thats sad ... The War-Master, War-Doctor, the Meddling Monk, Paternoster Gang, Jago and Litefood, Jenny, Kate they all have whole seasons of adventures. Christopher Ecclestone got two more seasons each 12 Episodes. To me his audio "Girl deconstructed" is one of the episodes of Doctor Who. Not to mention Paul McGann. He nails the part on every audio. His Doctor and John Hurt always spot on, you can almost see the Doctor in front of you, thats how good they are. Both of them share my alltime no.2 Doctor, still lightyears behind Tom Baker P.S. Big Finish improved so much of the 6th Doctor, showing how good Colin Baker is, given propper material.

it's weird how often Kate appears yet little she is used. seriously get Helen Raynor to write ALL the UNIT stories. The Monk isn't really evil. He always came across as a nuisance. if the character returns I would love him to have a Jake Peralta/Doug Judy relationship with The Doctor. The Trickster must return. With The Black Guardian being his master. Additionally The Trickster's Brigade has been in Doctor Who, SJA and Torchwood but not Class. Why did we never get a appearance in Class? Ashad was a menacing villain have his consciences become a CyberPlanner then continue his appearance as a hologram of his human self. Can we get a McGann a series quickly? I've listen to a dozen Big Finish audios and he's awesome!!

Yes it would be good to see more of some of these, particularly The Meddling Monk and Derek Jacobi's Master. I had my own idea for a different lone cybermen: 'Cybershade', based on the animal variant cybermen from 'The Next Doctor', the concept being that the cybermen tried to convert a human using the cybershade technology due to an emergency, but it couldn't suppress his/her humanity, so Cybershade rebels against the cybermen and becomes a recurring hero/anti-hero.

Have I got news for you. Big finish is doing the general and the time war army justice in audio. In the most recent return of the Gallifrey series; war room, the general is the only time lord that seems to respect Leela on a world where her Allies are gone and rassilon wants to use her as a weapon for the time lords glory. The Gallifrey time war and war room stories have also shown us a range of powerful, deadly and immoral temporal weapons we will hopefully one day see on screen.

Why wasn't Sally Sparrow mentioned? The character played by Carey Mulligan appeared in the episode Blink in 2007, but hasn't been seen since .I thought she would have be a great Doctor Who companion, much better than Donna Noble who in my personal opinion should of never been brought back after The Runaway Pride episode!

I was sad when I read Paul McGann said he felt like a "fraud" in regards to being one of the Doctor's incarnations. Sure, it may not have been a lot of screen time, but for what little we see of him he's incredible! I'm glad Big Finish is using him a lot, though.

I would argue that the Paternoster gang were absolutely not *under* used. They were used a perfect amount and our connection to them as an audience was strong and well developed. That being said, I would be interested to see if they could be used in the new series somehow, or maybe even in their own series.

I don't see the Meddling Monk as a villain - his plan in the Time Meddler story arc was to help the Britons by interfering with both the Viking invasion and the Norman invasion. He felt that, had Kind Harold survived the Battle of Hastings, he could have been a good and fair King to the Britons. This was rather altruistic. In many respects, the Doctor is also a Time Meddler as they often arrive at a point in history where two distinct outcomes are possible - one destructive and one beneficial (from the viewpoint of the people the Doctor is helping). Had the Doctor not arrived on Skaro, the Thals may have been wiped out by the Daleks in the Dead Planet story arc. The main difference between the Doctor and the Meddling Monk is the Doctor does not have a distinct plan to intervene in a historical event.

Could another American playing The Master work? I'm far from suggesting the same about The Doctor as that'd be damn near sacrilegious, but even on a character level, I feel The Master sees themselves as more chaotic and thus less any one thing that Gallifrey may be? I'd be curious about what a Bruce Greenwood, Paul Giamatti, Jessie Plemons, or Edward Norton take on The Master could be like. Am I alone in this?
