MAYBE.... a certain 9th Doctor will make an appearence? And bare in mind it's now possible to film actors in seperate studios and then combine the footage? Yes, but a painting would be very difficult to enjoy if it didn't have enough colours. RTD has struggled with budget forever, he is a BBC producer who has been given Disney money. It's okay to let him enjoy not being completely constrained by budget

Yes one of my favourite pieces of art is gas masks by otto dix all black and white it is the positioning of the lines which makes it interesting not the colour. No painting regardless of how well the colours go together can ever look nice if the lines are in the wrong place like how no episode of doctor who can be good if it first does not have a good script and a good director regardless of how beautiful the special effect are .Special effects should add to something that is already good not replace the goodness.

​@@teamicecream9015 Actually, there's an entire artistic theory around using a limited color palette so, that metaphor doesn't really work out (even black/white paintings can be incredibly stunning).... But, of course, you're right that it's okay for RTD to enjoy the freedom of choice! And having a bigger budget must feel nice! Yet, it is, also, a genuine thing that limitations can fuel creativity. And likewise, it is very easy to go overboard when given too many choices. Especially if you're overexcited by them. It's like that saying: "giving someone enough rope to hang himself with". Creatives can very easily get distracted by new "toys" they didn't have before and it can genuinely trip them up. So, Ellie's concerns are valid. But, it may all turn out just fine!! We just know so little that we can't help worrying over cryptic statements. 😅 We'll just have to wait and see how it all looks in the end and hopefully, it all turns out great!

Here's a Mrs. Flood theory I've seen no one suggest yet: could she be connected to Akhaten? Consider: if she is filling the role of God of Stories in RTD's Pantheon, she certainly seems particularly focused on the Doctor's stories given her wardrobe choices. And one of Matt Smith's best scenes as Eleven was "telling a story" to the planetary parasite who was worshiped and feared as a god. It literally feeds on stories, and the last one it devoured before being defeated by Clara was the entirety of the Doctor's history. Akhaten would know all about the Doctor and their companions, and taking the form of Mrs. Flood woud be an excellent way to oversee and influence the narrative from right next door.

I think the most likely explanation for Russel's focus on the FX is that they're in post-production on lots of episodes so he's spending a lot of time in meetings about them. If the interview was early in the writing process he'd probably be more focused on story and character.

I think the misconception around Space Babies is that people describe it as a "weird series opener", but that's because (if you look at the Disney+ or iPlayer streaming order) the series opener is actually Church on Ruby Road. Space Babies is the SECOND episode, it's meant to act as the equivalent of The End of the World, ie. the companion's first off-world adventure in a weird alien environment. RTD obviously wasn't as concerned about the irl time gap between episodes as he was about how they'll play together when binged retroactively.

It better be a paul Mcgann spin off, i know thats a probably a 0.5/10 Malcom, but its what the fans and Paul himself has been crying out for. Its like Star Trek Legacy. The other i think will be susan, as Carol ann ford has recently been very vocal about returning. Going as far as stating she is the last surviving OG cast member, which is really sad. I already have a problem with the season 2 finale. Ok so 2 parters can be a very mixed big, great setup but fluffs the landing which has been the case for most of new who finales. Also they really need to stop with the "needs to be more epic than the last one!" the universe has been destroyed several times, the mulitverse has been nearly destroyed a couple of times. How can you get more epic than that. Star Trek Strange new worlds has proven twice that low key, but still with high stakes finales can work just as well and in star trek better than the grand epic finales! looking at you discovery and Picard S1 & 2. Also 1 episode finales can work. S11 Resolution which chibnall has confirmed serval times is the s11 finale, not the battle of whatever. Resolution is a great episode, that does bring some closure to Ryan and graham, it cements the doctor by them facing the Daleks. As most doctor who actors say they don't feel like the doctor until they face the daleks.

Technically it isn't in doubt, disney only distribute it, as well as provide some budget. If disney don't do s3 they will look elsewhere or as RTD has said it will go back to how it was before and that there is a backup plan in place for if disney pull out. As the BBC are very happy with the show

@@AnubisX1 Disney don't only distribute it they provide a significant amount of the budget. The exact details of how much has never been revealed but its believed to be at least 50 percent. RTD was only speculating that it could go back to "how it was before" but he isn't in the position to make such a decision. If the Disney deal isn't extended and alternative external investment isn't secured then the BBC will make a decision as to whether they can justify continuing production of such an expensive show in the face of declining ratings. Its obvious that the BBC are not happy with how the show has been performing, why do you think they brough back RTD in the first place. Its because of decline in the popularity of the show during the Chibnall era. They would have been hoping to see a significant increase in viewership and if anything we have seen a decrease over the course of the last season. I think you are deluding yourself, the show is in trouble.

As a little-known director by the name of George Lucas once said, FX without a story are meaningless. I am concerned that Davies is becoming too enamoured by the FX budget that the stories might serve the FX rather than vice versa. The last series was very hit-and-miss, with some excellent stories, some passable stories, and some better left forgotten. I hope Davies remembers his earlier years with the show, which were generally good storytelling and doesn't let things get completely out of hand like Tennant's last series of specials.

Disney never renews before things have aired, it's completely normal they haven't ordered more yet, but they have confirmed the show far outdid their expectations. As for Graham Norton, they cut huge amounts of stuff every single week. They film more than they need so they can cut everything but the best stuff, and often actors contracts include stipulations about what can be promoted so that's an easy cut to make - either because Ncuti's contract with the play he was promoting doesn't let him do a major announcement for another project, or because his contract with Bad Wolf doesn't let him leak S3 until an official announcement.

If Disney felt it had outperformed expectations then they wouldn't be waiting to see how season 2 performs before announcing a continuation of the deal. The best evidence we have as to how it actually performed if from the Nielson streaming charts and it constantly failed to make the top ten. In regards to edits on the Graham Norton show of course they are made but the fact that an announcement of third season of Doctor Who was edited out when so much of the media was already reporting on the comments is not insignificant.

I prefer multi-season companions. I also like some continuity between seasons. If the companions change, the doctor shouldn't. If the doctor changes, the companion shouldn't.

In terms of needing a better first episode for this season, yes please. Space Babies made me have to talk my husband into watching the next episode, lmao, it was so so bad. But it was fine for our 3 year old, so that's something I guess?

Post production takes a bit longer these days especially because of higher quality effects and whatnot, though it should be ready by March/April next year fingers crossed!

If Ellie has been watching Agatha All Along, it could explain why she has witches on her brain. I like that Russell was hyping more the writing for the later episodes than the FX. I enjoy the upgraded FX, but that shouldn't be the main point of excitement. A good story doesn't need the best FX.

I sort take what RTD says with a pinch of salt these days, he sort of overblows everything. I know he's got to promote the show but it's a bit too much sometimes. I just hope series 15 is better than 14, it was ok but could be better. As for the secret project I'll wager it's CIN Special or a new batch of Tale of the Tardis episodes. I don't think we've seen the last of TotT and it's almost a year since the last batch ( I know Pyramid of Mars was a few months back but that was a one off)I really enjoyed them and the new shots they did for them.

Sounds like RTD is trying to paper over the cracks of his own making. It's great, everything's fine, fantastic Who coming... but didn't he say the same before the previous lacklustre series? Can't say anything he says excites me in the slightest.
