@@Lynxdoc I think a Curator series would be a great idea, how about one of the 1980s Doctors in that role teamed up with Ace or Mel and a team of younger characters. The Curator could stay at the Gallery in a more of an advisor role and the others do the physical stuff. Personally I think Sylvester McCoy would be great in this role, as long as his health allows it.

I have a massive Big Finish collection but I've never met anyone in RL who listens to them which is really sad and frustrating! I want to talk about them! The 14th Doctor and Even Paul Mcgann as a version of The Great Curator are all still UNIT's scientific advisor number 1. So any of them turning up in the UNIT show out of order is very possible.

If RTD wanted to cement his musing that bi-generation rippled back and some version of all the older Doctors now exist as canon, this would be a great way to do it. I could see any of the remaining Doctor actors turning up for the right story, apart from Tom Baker who seems quite frail based on the photos that came out for the 60th.

I have so many ideas around this stuff. One thing that was rumored were stories around the bad guys, as you mentioned, but I actually think this is a really good idea. One of the problems with the villains in Who is that the Doctor keeps defeating them. So they get less and less scary each time. So how do you make them scary again? Have a series with protagonists fighting the Daleks who *aren’t* the doctor and very often *do not win*! A show like “Dalek Universe” that centered on a resistance cell in Dalek occupied space would be awesome. You could give it a Blake’s Seven kind of vibe, with main characters dying every so often with occasional minor victories and semi-regular defeats as well. You could really put the risk and anxiety up there with a show like this, and it would mean when the Doctor finally *did* confront the Daleks again then you’d really be concerned about him and them.

I also would love a McGann series, but I can’t see them doing that. It would seem too much like competition for the main doctor. What I *can* imagine though is a ‘doctor lite’ story in which the doctor talks about an old encounter he had with a villain, which he narrates but has McGann on screen. Perhaps it’s an episode in the first third of a season, maybe Ncuti is telling someone who is ill in hospital a relevant story before he suddenly remembers how something from the story could help his dying friend. And then the rest of the season continues normally, only for the finalé to be a shock two doctor adventure with McGann? But I think that would have to be an S3 of Ncuti era though. He needs to bed in.

It recently occurred to me, after discussing one of your other excellent WhoCulture videos with family and friends, that the "spinoff" I want to see would be a collection of Who related stories, which don't focus on any one character or group. ("Who Knows"? "Who's Who?" "Stories from the Blue Box?") A series on any one target would, I suspect, run in to trouble (get old) fast; but various stories from "the verse" could be great, I think. As always thank you all so very much for the videos. And I like your idea of making it animated.

I get it, a series of stand alone episodes set in the same universe as Dr. Who but kind of unrelated. After all, the Doctor is only one person (ok, two now), so they can't be everywhere. Each episode could be just about anything, like a story about a family on some far of world having to deal with the fallout of an invasion by another alien species. Another could be about the cast of a news station reporting on the latest alien incursion on Earth. One could be about an alien visiting another world as a tourist (with all that entails) and so on. The possibilities are literally endless.

My concern is that while I don't mind the main show stepping on Big Finish, an 8th Doctor show should be more careful in that regard. Eighth Doctor fans are invested in his adventures with Charley, C'rizz, Lucie, Susan, Alex, Molly, Liv, Helen, Tania, Audacity,... And I don't know where they would choose to fit the adventures, either between Grace and Charley, or pre Time War o during the Time War (I'd prefer the second option tbf).

Apart from the Clara spin-off I know we'll never get, I always thought it would be cool to do a Silurian/Sea Devil spin-off set during their heyday on prehistoric earth. Maybe have a human time traveller get stuck there if they're worried about the relatability of the idea. And YES! Doctor Who has made so little use of animation its criminal! There's so much potential there. My vote for an animated spin-off would be the Paternoster Gang. Love the idea of an animated monster anthology too. Personally, I'd do the Master spin-off as an anthology as well - different incarnation each episode. "At Home with the Nobles", though? No.

One spinoff I'd like to see is Jo Jones on her travels around the world doing good. We caught a glimpse of what this could be like in the Season 9 trailer for The Collection. She can grab whatever children or grandchildren or other friends she needs for any particular adventure, so the supporting cast could be a series of recurring characters.

An animated Doctor Who spin-off could just be absolutely amazing! Mentioning stop motion and different animation styles would be perfect. Very “Love, Death, and Robots” but with our fave monsters. I’d say, keep the episodes “Doctor light” with voiceover being a great chance to get different Doctors to come back. You could get 5 vs Angels, 12 vs Sontarans, 8 vs Ice Warriors… endless

I’ve watched Doctor Who from the very beginning in 1963 when it was conceived with An Unearthly Child, so a spinoff/reboot of the First Doctor as played by David Bradley has to be my choice as a fan of 60 years. William Hartnell remains my favourate Doctor, so from my perspective if RTD and the BBC care about the world’s longest running science fiction series this has to be on the cards.

I would watch a mini-series centered around Paul McGann's Doctor. (It would have to be a mini-series so it doesn't pull viewers away from Doctor Who proper.) Similarly, I would watch a mini-series centered on the Fugitive Doctor and Division. It's canon anyways and Jo Martin was kind of a bad ass, so give me (and her) a little more. Lastly, I would love another Torchwood spinoff. It doesn't have to follow Jack and Gwen. I would be happy following characters from the Torchwood 2 base or Torchwood 4 base, or even going back in time and following Torchwood characters from the 1800s or early 1900s. Let's be honest, a UNIT spinoff would only exist to fill the void left by Torchwood anyway.

Paul's "slip into the role after 17 years" for the Night of the Doctor minisode ... well I'm not sure if that's really the case, since he was pretty much active in Big Finish's 8th Doctor's adventures, so his "slip into the role" should be easier, than the "oh it's been 17 years since the tv movie and he still got, what it takes" stuff. Sure he wasn't on screen for 17 years, but if he did Big Finish in the meantime, then it's quite hard to forget the ways he plays the character, no?

Eighth Doctor would be Awesome! So would Torchwood back. That was phenomenal and like the Eighth Doctor, has been done proud by Big Finish. As has my last one I want to see too, the Paternoster Gang series. I really think At Home with the Nobles would be boring. What I love about Tennant as Ten and Fourteen is the challenges, the hard decisions, the experiences. Someone like that doesn't simply stop. They might take a break but you get bored. You want to do something then you Have to do something. Seeing Fourteen going down B&Q for wallpaper, Tesco for the bread and milk? He's not going to stay at home. But if he goes off on adventures, it feels like it'll affect 15s story. I have to say and I feel like one of the old farts on KZbin who do my head in about canon, and writers and the it's gone woke bollox, I'm Really not looking forward to this Whouniverse as I'm no fan of the Marvel franchises at all. 😞

Agreed. The only spin off shows I'd look forward to seeing would be Torchwood again, and an Eighth Doctor series with Paul McGann. UNIT would be interesting but I feel like Torchwood would scratch that itch already. If they really wanted to make some fans happy, they should bring in David Bradley and reshoot the missing episodes from the First Doctor's era and add them in seamlessly so we can watch the series without the animations.

As much as I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE David as 10/14 with Catherine's Donna, and as much and I'd love to have more adventures with them, I hope if they do get a spin off limited series, it's in a few years. Let Ncuti Gatwa have his time as 15. My tops would be River Song (Alex Kingston made her iconic), the Master (every incarnation has been so great), Unit with Martha (It's a crime that Unit has been more central in the Whoniverse and Martha hasn't even been mentioned. Was she erased from everyone's memories? XD) Honorable Mention to the Shadow Proclamation. Would enjoy it getting a deeper history in universe. As is, it feels like a "Get Out of Jail Free card whenever the stakes are high and they need to reset an episode to get to the ending.

While I'd like to see a Nobles series, the series I most want to see would be "The Further Adventures of Jackson Lake" which would be very steampunk and include cameos with the Paternoster Gang and Victorian-era Torchwood (i.e. Jack Harkness). The advantage for the BBC is it doesn't need to be too expensive as it's mostly costumes. Example episode, Jackson, Rosita, and Fredrick take a vacation to Loch Ness. Another example, Jackson and Rosita help the Paternoster Gang track down Jack The Ripper. Also, being a professor, he might run into other learned men of the era, like Dr. Jekyll or Dr. Frankenstein. Lots of possibilities.

I'd prefer to see a series of "one off" specials that aren't necessarily connected where you could explore any one of these ideas. Like a bunch of TV movies where you could really give the story time to breath. I'd personally love to see a modern day version of the 5 doctors with everyone from Christopher to Jodie returning and interacting. I know it's highly unlikely but it would be fun to see.

UNIT, Sarah Jane sequel, Shadow Proclamation I'm all for them if they come to pass. Perfect excuse to see the Judoon hunt the Slitheen across the galaxy, introduce an intergalactic counterpart to UNIT that serves under the Shadow Proclamation, like my Infinity Rangers idea for example, and maybe see the Trickster shift his attention towards Clyde, Luke and Rani, or maybe even the Doctor full time. I'm sure his Brigade were responsible for the events of Turn Left and one episode of Torchwood. (or at least they were mentioned) UNIT could be the best though... especially if they introduce a SPECTRE-ese organisation for them to fight. Something akin to the Forever Knights from Ben 10, in that this evil organisation seek to exploit unusual threats instead of fighting them like UNIT do. I think it could work fantastically.

I feel like no matter when they do a spinoff featuring 14 it'll overshadow whoever is playing the Doctor. They could wait till Ncuti regenerates but then the next person has to compete with Tennant, Tate or both which could almost make the spin-off seem like the main series even if they aren't adventuring through the universe. They might be better off having 14 help on the UNIT series every so often. Or, since such an emphasis was placed on working through his trauma, have each episode use the framing device of 14 going to therapy. His chat with the therapist could lead to either his adventures shown through flashback or connect something he does in modern day to whatever he's talking about with the therapist giving him things to do to aid in his recovery. That could give it a more grounded feel. While Donna is at work 14 has to run errands but can't seem to help bumping into people who need help. He's like a one person A-Team minus the van and explosions.

I would like Rebel Flesh 11th Doctor "John Smith" make a return somewhere. He sacrificed himself, but 11 commented something like "and who knows, you may find a way to come back this, anything is possible". I really thought at the time that was meant as foreshadowing for his eventual return in some fashion. I assumed that perhaps the destabilization may not have been a permanent effect and that he might be able to reassemble eventually. That would of course apply to the evil Flesh character as well, so that could be the plot of a future story. It just felt like there was more there to explore.

I love the Time War but I think it works best when it's exclusively off-screen in the expanded media. It makes it feel more mythological, something you have to go out of your way to find.

UNIT and Doctor Ruth are the only ones that I'm pre-sold on. Everything else I'd need to hear more. Even the rumored Silurian / Sea Devil series leaves me wondering how interesting it'd be. Maybe the reason for that is the Big Finish stuff. I feel like a lot of the stories fans wanted to hear/see have been done. Let me try and explain. After Ghostbusters, we had the cartoon, and when the second movie came along, it felt more like an adventure of the cartoon than a big return to the franchise. Does that make sense? Also, NEVER TELL THE TALE OF JIM THE FISH.

You did not mention a Dalek Spin-off. I have an idea for a Dalek spin off which would make the Daleks extremely terrifying. Ok I say a Dalek spin off even though my idea for season one the Daleks are unknown for a majority and it's not until the end of the episode before the final and the final where they actually show up. Though I would also have a cameo from the Daleks at the opening showing them in control of the planet where the main characters live. Basically season one is just a lead up to a Dalek invasion. I know it's kind of spoilery to show the Daleks in the first episode then showing them already in control of the planet following the invasion. But the show is mostly just to show how the planet fell.

People wanting a 14/Donna spin-off are missing the point of the end of The Giggle. They're done, put to rest, happily ever after. I would love a series about a Gallifreyan attending the Time Lord Academy and delving more into Gallifreyan lore. If done successfully, it could even lead into the War in Heaven arc! Also, bring back Class!

Never mind a Tennant spin off. "Who Cooks!" A cooking show featuring Donna and her mum that gets to TV and is constantly being interrupted by orvfeaturing guests from other planets, with comedic adjustments to their out of space cuisine to make them palatable by humans

An animated series feels like the most likely after UNIT. It'd have a similar benefit as the audio dramas in that you can bring in people from any era and not have to explain why they have aged. There's so much untapped potential for a show that doesn't have to stick with the Doctor or can jump around and tell stories featuring multiple Doctors across multiple time periods dealing with the same problem without having to worry about cost or location. It's funny, I miss Torchwood despite never loving it as a whole. It's miniseries played better than it's regular episodes. I would very much enjoy some kind of anthology series whether it be animated or live. I think the idea of playing out a single story over 5-8 episodes has incredible dramatic potential. Series like 24 and Murder One were brilliant but maintaining that tension for 24 episodes is impossible without some ridiculous cliffhangers. Only 5 episodes though, like 'Children of Earth' could be something special. Plus anthologies are becoming more popular. I still think we were robbed of a great show when Star Trek: Discovery switched from bringing in a new crew each season to more standard fare even though they still base each season around a mystery that gets resolved in the season final.

Torchwood didn’t end primarily bc of viewership, it was a conglomeration of issues. They TRIED to make it happen for nearly a decade. Yes viewership was declining, but there was still a solid fan base that would’ve allowed a final couple seasons to be profitable; BBC just had different priorities and the actors were busy with bigger projects.

I’m of the opinion that the Time War itself should never be fleshed out on-screen, since it has no possible way of living up to how amazing and awe-inducing it’s described as. All the references we have of the impossible sounding events and reality-twisting clashes build such an unknowable horror in our heads. And we saw, from the Nightmare Child being fleshed out in expanded media, that it would just be underwhelming! Completely agree we need more of 8 in our lives; and more stories of him on the very outskirts of the war would be fantastic! But I think we should only ever get small references to just how horrible, amazing, and impossible the Time War was!

I agree, I think the time-war should largely remain off-screen, but I would like a prequel. Seeing Rassilon (or whomever) leading Gallifrey in ordinary times, all the ways the Time Lords used to be able to help. Possibly seeing or talking about other time wars (9 said "the >last< great time war") and building up to the beginnings of the current war when the show ends. I think that would be a good show.

I only like the Villains anthology and the 8th Doctor Chronicles, hopefully with Liv Chenka and Helen Sinclair canonized, even Tanya Bell maybe. Liv has one of my favorites attitudes and my favorite lines! When running away once the Doctor wasn't being helpful as to where they were running to and she said: "I'm sorry to trouble you. You hadn't really thought about it? You don't fancy regenerating into someone clever do you?" 🤣🤣

The only downside to a River Song series would be the lack of suspense. You know she'll escape any life or death situation, since we saw her death in the two part introduction.

Personally, if we get a villain's spin off, I would want it to be a darker, somewhat horror anthology, focusing on times that the Doctor never showed up and they won. Recurring Villains like the Daleks and Sontarans often seem to slip into being silly, with the fear they ilicit being faded with how often the Doctor beats them... because the Doctor is an expert who has been besting them for centuries. Stick them in a situation where the Time Lord isn't around to get in the way, and audiences will remember why we used to hide behind the sofa.
