@Moiez101 Its fine for pumping, but if you want to do tricks it takes a lot of practce if youre new to longboarding. Paris 180s are good, and you might wanna stick with the stock bushings. Theyre ok, but try out some venoms if you cant be dealing with the stock ones. Id recommend orangatang wheels - fatfrees for freeride, stimulus or durian for sliding and 4prez or inheats for cruising and carving. Hope that helps.

this is an awesome carving board. carving is all in the hips, you gotta work the hips, get those movin to carve good. second questions- it's an excellent board to learn to carve on. third- it is way worth the money and more.

to add (youtube wouldn't let me put this in one comment) riding regular, you lean sorta into the heel, and then explode with your toe and dig in. it'll give you speed and you can usually feel the board sorta lurch forward if you're doing it right. it's about putting small weight, and then forcing hard with more on the opposite side so the board bends, then snaps back helping you move forward

i weigh 155 and i have a flex 4. it takes some effort to balance on it to push it but i really like all that flex. i can go down curvey stuff that i can't on my other boards. it surprises me how tight i can turn and stay on the board. i also have a dervish and a fish. but if i were you i would get a 3 or a 4 and get the full advantages of the flexy vanguard.the flex is very comfortable to stand on and it runs over junk easily even with small wheels.

definately the vanguard, but the dervish is batter in all around boarding. for example it can handle a higher speed than the vanguard, but isn't as good a carver.

both of you guys stop arguing like little girls. i personally prefer the dervish, but the van is great in its own respect. i like the dervish better because it slides easier and is a great all around board, plus the drop through trucks make it really comfortable. don't argue over loaded boards and just enjoy riding.

Dude vanguards are just as able to do tricks as a lot of other longboards, it may be a little more difficult but even bigspins are doable on a vanguard...watch louis pilloni's old videos. But you will like your dervish a lot too.
