I absolutely LOVE your channel. So many vegan channels pay absolutely no attention to sugar, salt, or oil consumption. I have just adopted a plant based diet. I had adopted a plant based diet for about eight months. As a diabetic with the very, very, high carb intake and sugar intake (albeit natural), my sugar was outrageous. My doctor advised me against a plant based diet because of this. I also noticed comments from vegans about how much weight they have gained. I now eat a plant based diet, moderately carb, low oil and heavy on the veg. It is very discouraging to have almost all vegan channels preach no measuring of food (bread, corn, peas, lentils) when clearly to eat as much as you want of heavy carb items, nuts and oil will skyrocket carb sensitive people as well as weight gain with oil and nuts. Thank you.

You can also go to multiple stores to see what fruits and veggies that are in sale. Different stores have different things on sale. And if you want a meat substitute make it at home, it will be much cheaper and healthier AND you can adjust them to make them just right.

Also, there are 54 various names for hidden sugars in all processed foods. 80% of foods in grocery stores have hidden sugar added, disguised under various names. Google them. So added sugar is another no-no. It's not the same as natural sugars in fruits. Artificial colors, preservatives, etc. also will counter balance a plant based diet. So which is worse, vegetable oils or salt? I see you still eat fried corn chips made with canola oil which some say is as bad as or worse than animal fats for hardened arteries, but you get the no salt ones. Braggs is a salt. So you do eat some salt (sodium). Salt is another addictive substance and one that is prevalent in so many prepared foods.
@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow7 жыл бұрын
That is a good question. I am not a dietitian so I don't know the correct answer but my guess would be that the oil is a bit worse. I included the chips in the video to show that I am also human and am still struggling with food addiction. If I could buy chips that had both no oil and no salt, I would do that for sure because I know that they aren't very good for me. We do still use a bit of Braggs. It has 1/10 the sodium than table salt and we try to use it very minimally.
@IgnoreMeImWrong6 жыл бұрын
You don't know anything about the food, you have admitted yourself that you don't have an answer for the question because you lack the education. How about you buy some sweet potatoes, and make your own chips instead, hmm? You do *NOT* know that salt and oil is bad for you, you've heard it from a vegan and accepted it as the truth. You don't know about biochemistry, you don't know about nutrition and you certainly don't know about dietary requirements.
@IgnoreMeImWrong6 жыл бұрын
As for an actual answer. It actually depends on the source and type that you are ingesting. Ionised salt which is USA's standard table salt tends to have its minerals removed and the iodine added. Sodium chloride naturally does not contain iodine due to the process in-which creates it, I would recommend kelp in small quantities for the Iodine. Oil on the other hand also depends on source and type. Canola oil for instance is Canadian Rapeseed oil and is toxic to the system, where as coconut oil has a multitude of benefits in the body and as yet I have found nothing bad about coconuts. Coconuts being one of the few fruits I like.

True. I explain to use a figurative scale to grade people's diets with for example: My diet as almost 100% WFPB. I use sometimes oil for cooking. Some people use other processed foods that scale them to 90, 80 percent WFPB. So? A lot better then the SAD diet. Less meat, less unrefined sugars, less saturated fats, etc.

I'm sorry, but BPA-free does not mean better as other bisphenols such as BPS or BPF are added. Recent research showed that these substitutes may even be more toxic. Unfortunately, nobody testet the substitutes for health safety before using them. It was just a reaction of the industry to eliminate BPA to make the customers happy ;(

This is enough food for one person for a week, your family must not eat very much

Jewels This is just my normal amount of staples. I also have a few things that I buy in bulk that are not shown and I have a garden that provides most of our greens . SO, the video is not complete accurate. I probably should have done it a bit differently.

Would you maybe be able to share what meals etc your family eats in a week. Do you meal plan and/or prep?

You talked about not having too much oil as in the chips. When you mentioned it was canola, I was horrified. Canola os an industrial oil which is used in most margarines. I have had 2 friends whose eye specialists have told them that their macula degeneration is directly as a result of years of margarine use with canola oil. Pico from Queensland Australia

Thank you very much on your video"s with no oil, that's the main reason why I watch you, because of no oil, or shall I say SOS. Thanks again for all your tips...

So awesome that you use reusable big grocery bags! I recommend also checking out some reusable produce bags on Amazon too, so you can get rid of the plastic bags entirely :)

For real! All that plastic is a killer. Also, shopping at the farmers' market is usually cheaper.

Hi Kristina. Thanks for the advice of where you can get re-usable produce bags from..I live in the UK. Some places have paper bags here, do the shops or supermarkets provide paper bags where you are ( although reusable seems the best)
@KristinaLynnx6 жыл бұрын
Sometimes, but not always. Plastic is standard in almost all places, but some natural food stores will have paper.

Thanks for your reply Kristina. I think as the issue of plastic is growing, things will change. Perhaps not as quickly as you or I would wish. However as long as it starts to turn in the right direction, it's a great start.
