You know, ive done a deep dive on Garmin's line up after buying my Fenix and also learning about competitors as well. As a result my feed keeps getting videos like this one, and they go all different ways. Why i ditched whoop for garmin, why i ditched garmin for whoop, why ditched my Epix for an apple watch ultra, why i went back to my Epix. So I will say this, I am not a top athlete, I dont run or race, I bought my Fenix as a hiking and hunting companion after a recommendation from an outdoor mag pointed me at it and the Instinct, but it seems like all these top watches preform so well that it really is just a matter of what ones provide the information you most value, and what secondary functions are most useful to you. Style is also a factor. I dont want to make or take phonecalls on my watch, own an Android phone, and want the built in routing and navigation and appreciate the long battery which basically locks me into Garmin as its the only one on the market capable of routing me without assistance from my phone or an LTE connection. I dont think a single one is bad, and there is no shame in bouncing around a little to different makers as one of those minor differences might be the thing that stands out to you. Videos like this one go a long way to helping people figure out what they might prefer as these are where youll hear about how those minor differences stack up. So thank you for putting these out for people

Hey! This was a super thoughtful comment and I 100% agree that there really isn't a single one that is bad. IT truly comes down to what you are looking for in the device and platform. Pinning your comment as I believe you encompassed exactly why I made this content. Thanks for watching! -Corey

Maybe, but it also doesn’t match whoops superb sleep tracking, whole body recovery cycle tracking with effective coaching integration and unmatched social features, so to many myself included the superscription fee is worth it

I like the subscription model cause i get a new device every few years. Most people change after a few years anyways. Also a better option for people who dont want a watch or constant notifications

great review! P.S. you can wear WHOOP on your bicep too. Also I had the same thing where one platform says "go!" & other says "chill"

Thanks for the comment! I published this video and saw someone running that afternoon with it on their bicep. I would be curious to try that out! As you mentioned as well, listening to two platforms could be a headache. Thanks again! -Corey

Really nice comparison. I've only ever used Garmin, as I mentioned in my last video, but it has so many nice features I can't imagine ever switching. Once it added the music function and I realized there were additional apps I could download for free, I was completely sold. A video that really deep dives into more of the Garmin features would be fun, if you ever feel like doing one. I'm always discovering new things.

Totally agree! I still need to get familiar with all of the features but it is nice to know that I have a device I will continue to grow with and not have to upgrade anytime in the near future.

I find it very useful on Garmin if you go for a training run it tells you on screen speed you should be running at. Whoop I suspect does not have such an option.

Woop metrics dont hold a candle to a fr 965 uses 24/7. Recovery, sleep, stress, naps, activities, SP2, body temp, respiratory rate, and goes on !

You should do a video explaining some of the different data you track and why it’s important depending on what your training for. Things like HRV, VO2 max,etc might not be common place for people just starting out in the space

Subscription model is precisely why I dropped Whoop. One thing I really liked about it though was how it didnt have an interface and you could just forget about it on your wrist for days. How often do you have to charge the Garmin?
@coreycoull
@coreycoull Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I charge the Garmin every week or so and it charges in about 30 minutes. I have the 955 Forerunner Solar edition so interested to see how long the battery life increases as I run longer in the sun during the summer months. -Corey

I love Garmin wearables, but I keep getting a skin rash from wearing them continuously. Any tips to fix this? I want to wear it 24/7, but the rash makes me take it off for two days to heal.

I have the same issue. I've found keeping a cotton ball or cotton round like a makeup remover tucked under the strap to absorb extra moisture helps. Once a rash breaks out, I use aquaphor

Maybe get a different strap? I have a cheap nylon strap from Amazon and it's pretty comfortable for me.

Whoop, to me, has always been a marketing scam for athletes. If you're not a "big (meaning size, ie fenix instinct) Garmin watch" person, there are thinner lighter versions. I sleep with my instinct on. The only time I realize I'm wearing it is when I try and slide my hand under the wife's head. Other than that, Garmin all day 100

Whoop and Garmin aren’t really competitive with one another. I wear Garmin during workouts and whoop all day.
@coreycoull
@coreycoull Жыл бұрын
I don’t disagree. Garmin is exceptional at tracking workouts where Whoop takes the win on tracking your overall health data specific to strain and sleep. For me, I only want to wear one and at this time Garmin hits my needs more. Their training readiness is similar to Whoop’s recovery and the sleep tracking is sufficient. If you have the option to use both simultaneously then I can see that as a huge win. Thanks for watching! -Corey

I think for whoop you forgot to mention respiratory rate as another metric for the recovery score! I see you also have an oura ring? Is it gen 3? How you like it compared to whoop? Thanks for the review!
@coreycoull
@coreycoull Жыл бұрын
Ah totally fair! Garmin tracks respiratory as well but Whoop definitely has a great algorithm on utilizing that for overall recovery. That is actually not an Oura ring! I would love to try one out in the future though. Thanks so much for watching! -Corey

What about Apple Watch?
@coreycoull

Thanks for asking! Also a great option depending on what you value in the data. In my opinion Garmin is overall more accurate in overall heart rate monitoring and gps tracking. Also Garmin has many additional features that a user can tap into as they progress in their fitness journey making it relevant over the years without needing to upgrade to a newer version. Hope that helps.

@@coreycoull Great video. I have to respectfully disagree - the Apple Watch optical heart rate is industry best in accuracy and it's not even close. Their new GPS set is incredibly accurate too. I do agree re Garmin being more focused on fitness, though.
