I think your analysis is called jumping to the conclusion Graeme. It's very much possible that Holtermann's didn't want to commit to such a reputationally important order, as you have pointed out, when they knew they may not be able to fulfil the order when the day comes given the condition of their equipment. You say that cupcakes are an easy product she could've made a plan to make anyways, but you forget that quality control and product safety are fundamental in the food business. From my POV it seems Whoopi jumped to conclusion about the reason why the owner refused the order and underestimated the impact of voicing out those conclusions even as a conjecture on her part. If she felt so strongly about what happened she could've just said she ordered and they told her they refused because of 123 so she now has mixed feelings because they were able to accept the order. No mention of insinuations of prejudicial treatment was necessary. Anyways, this is all retrospective talk.

FACT CHECK: You can't just go make the cupcakes in another oven because that is a DoH violation. The kitchen is inspected and certified for food prep for public consumption. We also dont know the time difference between when the orders were placed, if they talked to the same employees, or what the status of the repair was at the time the second person called. You also lack consideration for the gravity of fulfilling an order for a TV show. Its one thing to agree to deliver cup cakes to the common man and fail to. You might get a negative google review.
