Now that’s what I’m taking about TOP WATER BABY!!! No ffs needed. I caught my pb on a white 60, with a 7-11 micro profishency pole with 8lb floro line in a 10ft yak

I realize that, because the Plopper is basically a straight retrieve lure, fluoro doesn’t exhibit its usual difficulties with topwater baits, but unless you’re literally taking your an entire flipping setup already loaded with fluorocarbon and repurposing it, why not fish it on mono (or copolymer for those who insist it isn’t mono) with better shock strength, more forgiveness, and more buoyancy?

I just purchased one and tried it out at Lewis Smith lake and it was awesome. Caught several 2.5 to 3.5 lb. Also just subscribed. Plan to purchase the recommend colors also. Enjoyed the video.

Thanks for the great tips I like to fish mine with a single frog hook in the back and a swivel willow blade in the front lets it be weedless then I run it through the cover a little more... but you're right definitely get a lot of blow up misses because of the two hooks instead of six... But always a fun bait to fish even a blow up miss can make your heart miss a beat.

Randy, why are fish hitting this bait in late summer and early fall? Are there more baitfish, brim and bluegill on the bank? The water is still very warm as it is in July.

I like the 110 the best, cannot get any fish in the 130. 110 sounds the best too

I've used the plopper like a frog, gets bites too!

I highly recommend that when you fish a Whopper Plopper, that use use a swivel. If you get anything in the spinning tail……and you will….the whole lure will spin and cause your line to twist. This will cause an absolute mess of your line all the way back to your reel. I use 60lb split ring and a 120lb swivel. It’s a bit of overkill, but you will never have to worry about it when you land a big fish, not to mention it’s easier to put on the front of the lure. It won’t change the action either because the lure trails behind.

Thsy stock hooks are way too big and thick! I change mine out to g- finesse trebles

I find these lures in trees or in the rocks when bank fishing all the time. I usually tie a sinker to them and toss them back into the water.
