One of the funny things about Smothering Tithe is that creating Treasures is NOT a “may” ability, so whenever I play it & someone doesn’t pay the 2, I say “I MUST accrue wealth”

Omg yes....my friend runs a red/blue spell slinger deck and the amount of time he takes trying to figure out which cards to cast is so annoying.....I don't mind the deck....just wish he would play it a little faster

@@palm0607 play speed magic. Have a 1 minute or so timer for each players turn. My friends and I do it at lunch so we can get through a commander game. They either have to build a faster deck or play faster. It’s pretty fun.

I like how after a certain point in the game Tyler doesn’t even bother making the treasures with Smothering Tithe, he just draws the cards from Calgar lol.

The updates to the patreon are really nice! Yeah that game was absurd, it's crazy that those three decks were designed as support decks to help Tyler's win faster Turn 1 Tithe with 25 draw engines will generally do that for you Great game, excited to see the other ones from this set!

I think Marneus in particular can be quite good. He goes infinite easily, his casting cost is kinda high though. Also, love the zombie token. I'm brewing a Negan deck and they'd fit in very nicely. Good game guys!

I recently played a game where one person had a marneus, and another had a smothering tithe and a rhystic study. A third player played fractured identity on the smothering tithe.... Every time one of us played a spell, Rhystic study gets a draw, everyone makes a treasure, marneus draws, everyone gets a treasure again it was insane

I've been brewing around Marneus so glad to see it do so well! Really sweet deck with lots of great synergies. Smothering Tithe and Grim Hireling are the deck MVPs imo.

It feels like Marneus could easily build around abusing Smothering Tithe as much as possible given how insane it is in the deck. Since he also wins with infinite mana by drawing the deck, it could well look similar to Opus Thief style decks with a hard focus on ST and just win in similar ways like Angel’s Grace into Windfall and play it again from grave via Yawgmoth’s Will to deck everyone.

It would shut off using the treasures, but Tyler still gets to draw off of the treasures being created. Searching for a creature to blow up the tithe takes care of both issues by shutting off the card draw enabler.

You don't draw for each token, just whenever one or more are created. So if you cast a spell that makes one token, you draw a card. If you cast a spell that makes 50 tokens, you still only draw one card.

How are Ad Nas/ThOralce/Hordes/etc. cEDH decks any different. Most of the decks with specific wincons couldn’t care less about which commanders are being used. Any commander will do. Three of today’s decks would be the same deck with any 5c or color matched commander.

Quite true. Generally you'll find a few pieces moving to match the commander specific shenanigans but yeah, most cEdh is imho the same staples with very little variation. It makes sense as you try to play the best cards but it also means everything looks samey.
