Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching!!! Today, we are called to a very challenging situation. A paving company is laying asphalt on a county road when their paving machine's drive tracks quit working. The customer works on getting another machine on site, while we have to remove the defective machine. There are several problems, though. First, time is not on our side. Asphalt is cooling and hardening rapidly in the machine and multiple dump trucks which are lined up waiting to dump their load into the machine to repave the road. The machine is heavy and the asphalt left in the machine has to be removed. Lastly, we are on a narrow county road without a shoulder and we aren't allowed to damaged the freshly placed asphalt. To help us with this situation, the customer uses one of their skidsteers to level out an area beside the road which will hopefully hold the weight of our Peterbilt 389X with a Miller Industries, Century 1150R heavy rotator towing and recovery unit. It's just a little light-weight machine that weighs in at around 73,000 lbs (33112 kg) We also get to use our new EarTec EVADE headsets. I hope you all enjoy this video!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

I grew up in Hamilton County, TN and nearly every wrecker/tow truck was an Earnest Holmes. I got started as a mechanic in my teen years in the late 1960s and I remember seeing the ads for Earnest Holmes wreckers in commercial trade magazines that my employer got monthly. It was somewhat of a thrill when I saw the first ad for the new "Twin Swing Boom" wrecker platform where Holmes mocked-up a "recovery" from North Chickamauga Creek by staging the wrecker directly on the Old Hixson Pike bridge over the creek and suspended a borrowed wrecked car from a nearby salvage yard above the creek for the photo shoot. The location was about 2 miles from my house. I had several friends whose dad or brothers owned service stations or shops and they all had Holmes wreckers. I suppose it was a matter of local pride that Holmes seemed to be the "only game in town" around there back then. Holmes was bought by Miller Industries.

Job well done! Ron, I constantly admire how you work with your men. You teach and instruct so patiently. Also I loved that you commented to Ethan about going under the boom after you told him not to. You could have easily said nothing, but admitted to him that you knew what had taken place. Again, well done!!!

Ron... YOU ARE THE MAN...!!! Using the chain not risking the straps getting cut @15:49 and not using that tie down @15:14 for the lift not trusting the weld... That's what I call letting the experience talk for you... Nice job and change of scenery re what you guys are working on...! 👍👍 The road guys asking questions at the end are amazed and definitely like the rotator as we all do...! P.S. I ordered a nice coffee cup off of your merch page and NOW I have something to officially enjoy my coffee while I'm watching my favorite KZbin channel...! Ron Pratt - Mmmmm boy, this coffee never tasted as good as it does now...!!! 🍵 Thanks Ron...! Love your channel and everything about it...!!!

Greetings from the UK. Another fine mess you've got someone out of, Ron. I hope they said 'tar' very much at the end!! Ethan may be a bit slow on the uptake sometimes, but he's still gaining experience and will be quicker in time. What's more, he's got an excellent teacher, eh Ron??? Take care, my friend and God bless.

It's interesting how in videos on his own, Ethan has it together, yet when with his dad, he needs constant instruction. I was like that with my dad. He was so good at his job, but made me so nervous, it was tough to think straight at times. Like Ron, he was calm, but had a slightly different way of doing things. You know, left alone, you'd meet him at the same point, but when holding the flashlight, it's not at the right angle or pointed where he's looking at any particular moment. It was like, I knew what to do, but didn't dare do it until he told me. 😂

11:41 Expensive day all around. 10 guys standing around watching 2 guys working a very expensive truck. Asphalt solidifying in the paver, dump truck and on the road. Batch plant is cooking up another mix. And the County's not pleased their contract has ground to a halt. Hope it's a quick fix. Can't imagine what being a machine doctor for a paving company must be like.

I'm sure that you absolutely love answering bystanders questions about your equipment, especially Tator. I know that I do about my 2006 Freightliner Classic XL. Most places that I go know me and my tractor by name (my wife named her "The Mistress" years ago) but, now and then, I go somewhere new or, get a new forklift driver. They're always amazed that my 17 year old tractor still looks and sounds like brand new, especially being painted black, and are really blown away when I tell them that it has nearly 2 MILLION miles on it! As always, be safe and God bless you, your crew and your equipment!
